NO WONDER PRIGOZHIN WAS UPSET ENOUGH TO MUTINY: Wagner Reveals Massive Death Toll Figures for Mercenaries Fighting in Ukraine.

The unverified numbers, posted on Telegram by several Wagner-affiliated channels, claim that in all operations from the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion up until the “capture of Bakhmut” on May 20:

·Wagner had 78,000 thousand fighters in total.

·49,000 of these were convicts.

·22,000 were killed.

·40,000 wounded

This leave just 16,000 that made it through the fighting without being killed or injured.

You can find a lot of good info on Telegram, but there’s disinfo there, as well. That said, these Wagner figures align with third-party estimates that have been published by reliable sources elsewhere.

EUGENE VOLOKH: “Busting the Durable Myth that US Self-Defense Law Uniquely Fails to Protect Human Life.” “The problem with this narrative is that it fails to recognize that US self-defense law is, in fact, very much within the international mainstream and, in many respects, is significantly more protective of attackers and more carefully calibrated to reduce overall societal violence than the self-defense laws of many other nations.”

GREAT MOMENTS IN DNC-MSM FACT CHECKING: Twitter’s Community Notes is doing media fact-checkers’ job.

Of all the changes that have come to Elon Musk’s Twitter , Community Notes, a fact-checking feature, has been the most consequential.

Community Notes offers both neutral fact-checking and context. But it’s also shining a glaring spotlight on how many in the media have abandoned their job responsibilities under President Joe Biden , responsibilities that they dutifully and eagerly performed under Donald Trump.

CNN’s Daniel Dale, for example, was hailed and praised for his “rapid fact check” segments on then-President Trump. His Twitter bio currently reads, “Fact checking the president.” Unfortunately, it seems that Dale’s Twitter bio needs a Community Note. He has only fact-checked President Joe Biden once in the past 90 days. Similar is the experience of the Washington Post’s Glenn Kessler. In April 2021, Kessler tweeted that the news outlet would discontinue a record of false and misleading claims by Biden. Kessler has not been as rigorous in fact-checking the current president.

This is where Twitter’s Community Notes has picked up the slack.

Just think of the media as Democratic Party operatives with bylines, and their four year vacation makes perfect sense.

ESCALATION: Ukraine updates: Russia threatens Black Sea grain transport.

Russia’s Defense Ministry said it would consider all ships traveling to Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea as potential carriers of military cargo from midnight on Thursday morning Moscow time (2100 GMT on Wednesday), following the end of the Black Sea grain deal.

In a statement posted on the Telegram messenger app, the ministry said that it was declaring southeastern and northwestern parts of the Black Sea’s international waters as unsafe for navigation, and that the flag states of ships travelling to Ukrainian ports would be considered parties to the conflict on the Ukrainian side.

Moscow’s statement comes as Kyiv has urged other countries in the Black Sea region to intervene and assure the safe passage of cargo ships.

The “tanker war” during the Iran-Iraq War prompted Reagan to reflag Kuwaiti tankers as American, and basically dare either side to draw in the full weight of the US Navy, but I’m not sure the Navy is quite the deterrent that it once was, and I’m sure that Biden is no Reagan.

#JOURNALISM:

PARTY OF DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION UPDATE: Democrats Have a Muslim Problem in Michigan.

LGBTQ+ and transgender-supporting Democrats have a Muslim problem in Michigan as the conservative Muslim community pushes back against Democrat-supported LGBTQ legislation and policies.

In Hamtramck, the all-Muslim city council in the only Muslim-majority city in the United States, recently voted unanimously to institute a flag resolution called “Resolution to Maintain and Conform the Neutrality of the City of Hamtramck Towards its Residents.” In the resolution, they prohibit flags of any racial, ethnic, religious or sexual-oriented group on city property.

The LGBTQ+ community took offense to the resolution and showed up at the meeting to protest it on June 13th. Muslim Hassan Aoun was also at the meeting and said, “Don’t sit here and throw Pride Month, or being gay, down kids’ throat, my throat or anybody’s throat. You can be gay by yourself.”

After the vote was made concerning the flag resolution, a group of LGBTQ+ activists also protested in front of Hamtramck City Hall on June 24th. The protest included an appearance and speech by Attorney General Dana Nessel who compared their flag ban to being evil, homophobic and transphobic.

Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib has said publicly that he considers the protesters to be a “militia” and the protesters were comprised of folks sent into his community, including elected officials, to put pressure on them and threaten them.

FDR, who assembled a coalition of “Progressive” northerners and stone-cold racist southern New Dealers, smiles.

POWERLINE COMPILATION: “All Roads Lead To Joe.” Joe Biden is the Rome of government and Democratic Party corruption. Scott Johnson’s post links to the best commentary (Turley, Devine, NY Post, Free Beacon) and videos of House testimony by whistleblowers. The witnesses have credibility and backbone.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Joe Biden’s Greatest Accomplishment as President—Inspiring Whistleblowers. “Joe Biden may not be at all functional, but the people pulling his strings have the relevant agencies under his charge in the Executive Branch firing on all cylinders to protect the ‘family interests.’ We know this because people are showing up with receipts.”
