TWITTER NEEDS TO BE THOROUGHLY INVESTIGATED ON SEVERAL FRONTS: House Republicans Demand Twitter Board Preserve All Records Related To Musk Buyout Bid. “18 House Republicans have demanded that Twitter’s board preserve all records related to Elon Musk’s buyout offer – suggesting that they will conduct a congressional probe if their party regains control of the chamber this fall. According to a Friday letter seen by CNBC, House Judiciary Committee Republicans led by ranking member Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) have asked Twitter board chairman Bret Taylor to preserve any communications from both official and personal accounts – including those sent using encryption – that have anything to do with Musk’s offer.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Jill Biden’s Criminal Elder Abuse Is Going to Ruin Us All. “It’s important to keep reminding ourselves that we are, in fact, not crazy. After all, we’re living in a time when the seemingly pervasive mainstream media keeps insisting that what we can plainly see with our eyes and hear with our ears isn’t really happening.”

THIS WILL END WELL: Howie Carr: Only the woke need apply to be Boston’s top cop.

Do you have the right stuff to become Boston’s next police commissioner?

Step one: Pick up the phone and dial area code 202.

That’s Washington, of course. But then you weren’t seriously expecting that anyone from area code 617 was going to be involved in anything … Boston, now were you?

Mayor Michelle Wu, originally from the 312 area code (Chicago), has farmed out the nationwide search for a new PC police commissioner to what appears to be a Washington think tank.

According to the city (of Boston, not Washington or Chicago or San Francisco, where the mayor’s new chief of staff came from), here is what the BPD requires of its next commissioner:

“The passion, skills, and cultural competencies to serve as a ‘bridge-builder.’”

Personally, I think most Bostonians might prefer a “crime stopper” to a “bridge builder.”

“A leader who brings an enthusiasm to meeting this moment to reimagine policing.”

How about reimagining … safe streets? Or the arrests of criminals? How about reimagining … Downtown Crossing without roving bands of teenaged girls assaulting and calling a 20-year-old woman a “white (bleep) with braids”?

How about reimagining a Chinatown where law-abiding Asians aren’t randomly stabbed?

“A willingness to actively center the safety and well-being of LGBTQ+ residents of Boston.”

How about a willingness to protect all citizens — even people who were born here, speak English and aren’t on welfare?

Come on, Howie, that’s crazy talk.

MEET THE ‘MARXIST LESBIAN’ RUNNING YOUR LIBRARY: Well, running the American Association of Libraries, that is – Emily Drabinski, who, according to Joy Pullman, writing in The Federalist, is:

“The interim chief librarian of The Graduate Center at City University of New York (CUNY), where she was previously the ‘critical pedagogy librarian,’ Drabinski posts openly on her Twitter feed in support of sexually exposing children, union-led political strife, socialist politicians, and libraries pushing explicit and far-Left material on unwilling taxpayers.”

Among Drabinski’s backers is American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten. Your friends will not believe — this is Instapundit, so nothing will surprise you — the kind of far-Left lunacy with which this woman and thousands of her colleagues in libraries across America are stuffing the shelves.

MORE LIKE THIS, PLEASE: NASA is supporting some seriously risky missions to the Moon—it’s about time.

In recent years, NASA has been funding a second, much smaller-scale Moon program, at just 3 percent of the cost of Artemis. This is the “Commercial Lunar Payload Services” program, which seeks to use private companies to send small- and medium-size landers to the Moon’s surface for primarily science-based missions. Its budget is about $250 million per year.

This program, known as CLPS, is showing some promising signs and will beat the Artemis program to the Moon by at least a couple of years. Moreover, it represents a bold new effort by NASA’s Science division, which is seeking to leverage the emerging commercial space sector to radically increase scientific and exploration capabilities. If successful, the CLPS model of exploration could be extended to Mars and beyond.

But will it be successful? We’re about to find out.

ELECTION-DENIERS: Democrats still believe Clinton won in 2016. “Democrats and Hillary Clinton’s fans are sticking to their guns when it comes to believing that Russian meddling cost her the 2016 election. According to the latest Rasmussen Reports survey, 72% of Democrats said that ‘Russia succeeded’ in changing the outcome of the election that vaulted former President Donald Trump into the White House.”

IS FIRST SOLAR OR MASIMO CORP. THE NEW SOLYNDRA? Republicans on the House Committee on Oversight and Reform are digging into “a $500 million federal loan to First Solar, a company co-owned by a Biden megadonor, since at least January. Now, they are also seeking information about nearly $3 million in federal contracts that were awarded to another major Biden donor’s company,” according to Washington Free Beacon’s Alana Goodman.

First Solar is co-owned by Walmart heir Luke Walton, who gave $300,000 to the Biden campaign and $100,000 to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) in 2020. Joe Kianai owns the Masimo Corporation, the recipient of the $3 million in federal contracts. Kiani wrote a check to the Biden Foundation for $1 million and another for $750,000 to a Biden superPAC.

PRETTY MUCH: The End of Progressive Intellectual Life: How the foundation-NGO complex quashed innovative thinking and open debate, first on the American right and now on the center left. “If you are an intelligent and thoughtful young American, you cannot be a progressive public intellectual today, any more than you can be a cavalry officer or a silent movie star. That’s because, in the third decade of the 21st century, intellectual life on the American center left is dead. Debate has been replaced by compulsory assent and ideas have been replaced by slogans that can be recited but not questioned: Black Lives Matter, Green Transition, Trans Women Are Women, 1619, Defund the Police. The space to the left-of-center that was once filled with magazines and organizations devoted to what Diana Trilling called the ‘life of significant contention’ is now filled by the ritualized gobbledygook of foundation-funded, single-issue nonprofits like a pond choked by weeds. Having crowded out dissent and debate, the nonprofit industrial complex—Progressivism Inc.—taints the Democratic Party by association with its bizarre obsessions and contributes to Democratic electoral defeats, like the one that appears to be imminent this fall.”

Plus: “Chain-ganging (a term I have borrowed from international relations theory) in this context means implicitly or explicitly banning any grantee from publicly criticizing the positions of any other grantee. At a conference sponsored by the Ford Foundation that I attended more than a decade ago, an African American community activist complained to me privately: ‘Immigration is hurting the people in the neighborhoods we work in. The employers prefer illegal immigrants to young Black workers. But if we say anything about it, Ford will cut off our money.'”

DISNEY FALLOUT:

DEMOCRAT-LINKED ORGANIZATION TIED TO FUNDING OFFER FOR NORTH CAROLINA ABSENTEE BALLOT PORTAL:

In 2020, N.C. State Board of Elections Director Karen Brinson Bell made a successful push for the state to establish an online absentee ballot portal during COVID-19, however, emails show such a portal was already in the works long before the pandemic began.

Emails obtained by North State Journal show discussions between the N.C. State Board of Elections (NCSBE) and Democracy Live about adding an online absentee ballot portal happening as early as June of 2019; almost nine months prior to the emergence of COVID-19 in the state.

Democracy Live’s system utilizes “OmniBallot,” an online ballot replication system. The online absentee ballot portal powered by Democracy Live was first publicly named by the NCSBE in September of 2020.

According to a 2020 security analysis of OmniBallot conducted by Michael Specter of MIT and J. Alex Halderman of the University of Michigan, “OmniBallot uses a simplistic approach to Internet voting that is vulnerable to vote manipulation by malware on the voter’s device and by insiders or other attackers who can compromise Democracy Live, Amazon, Google, or CloudFlare.”

CHRISTIAN TOTO: Denver Pub Offers Embarrassing Crash Course on Cancel Culture. “This isn’t the first attempt to cancel Carano’s Denver appearance. The far-Left Pop Culture Classroom attempted something similar last month when news of the star’s appearance first went viral. The team behind the group clearly hoped its actions would coax FAN EXPO DENVER to reconsider its decision.”

LIFE UNDER THE PATRIARCHY:

HMM: Things Just Got Real in Elon Musk’s Attempt to Buy Twitter. “In a Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, Musk reports that he’ll put up $21 billion of his own money and has secured outside financing to cover the rest of a sweetened deal to buy Twitter. All told, Musk is offering $46.5 billion in a potential tender offer.”

But: “Maybe we’re better off if Elon Musk’s attempt to take over Twitter fails. No, wait, hear me out.”
