KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: The ‘Trump 2024’ Tease Needs Go On Until the Last Minute. “I’ve written that Trump needs to you-know-what or get off the pot but now I’m doing a 180. I like him keeping everyone hanging. It makes the Democrats scramble.”

MEGHAN MURPHY: Why I left the left.

I wanted the left to change. That’s why I stuck around for so long. I wanted to be a voice of dissent in the movement and to push for something better. I warned that this kind of censorious, cowardly silencing and refusal to have any critical debate about ideas would lead to the left’s failure. But progressives only doubled down – clinging ever-more tightly to ideologies and mantras that are irrational and regressive, and censoring anyone who dared challenge them.

The left, seemingly along with most feminists, has now decided it no longer knows what a woman is, and that anyone who claims to know must be silenced.

At a certain point, we have to stop pretending this is just about a few bad apples. We have to stop hanging on, imagining this group will come around. It is time to deal with reality, not wishful thinking: this is the left now, whether we like it or not.

Plus: “The left is no longer a movement for justice and freedom from oppression, it is a movement for bullying and totalitarian control.”

Murphy won’t have really taken the red pill until she realizes that it always was a movement for bullying and totalitarian control.

PJ MEDIA VIP ROUNDUP: Don’t forget that VODKAPUNDIT promo code if you’ve been thinking of joining us.

Matt Margolis: Here’s Another Woke Reboot You Don’t Have to Watch. “It looks well-produced, and I was briefly intrigued. But that was short-lived, because Amazon Studios made no effort to hide the series’ woke agenda.”

Kruiser: Liz Cheney Looks Like She Knows She Sold Her Soul. “Should she manage to get reelected (I covered how that might happen here), she’ll be the epitome of Republican in Name Only.”

Yours Truly: Passwords Are Going to Die. PassKeys Will Kill Them. “PassKeys — a coming industry-wide standard — can’t be hacked, phished, or guessed. In fact, users can’t even see their own PassKeys.”

JOHN SOLOMON: Internal Capitol Police review found sweeping intelligence, security failures on Pelosi’s watch. “Identifying 53 areas of failure needing corrective action, the June 4, 2021 report, obtained by Just the News, produces a far more stark portrait of leadership failures than those offered by Democrat-led investigations, making abundantly clear that the Capitol Police under House Speaker Nancy Pelosi were ill-equipped to defend one of America’s most symbolic and high-value institutions two decades after the Sept. 11 attacks.”

WEAPONIZED KILLJOYS: Top Gun, the Berenstain Bears, and the left-wing Pharisees who hate both. “Imagine my surprise when I found out that there wasn’t universal admiration for the original Tom Cruise flick. Apparently all the buzz about the sequel sent some people back to the video tape to reinterpret the first film through the lens of our current ‘enlightened’ culture.”

NATO: Sweden’s NATO Bid Is in Trouble. “Before submitting their NATO applications, Sweden and Finland had surveyed alliance members; no one spoke up to object. Then they submitted their applications, and Turkey blocked them. ‘Unless Sweden and Finland clearly show that they will stand in solidarity with Turkey on fundamental issues, especially in the fight against terrorism, we will not approach these countries’ NATO membership positively,’ Recep Tayyip Erdogan told NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg last month. The Turkish president’s beef mostly seems to concern Sweden, which has long hosted Kurdish refugees (some of them of the militant variety). One former Peshmerga fighter, Amineh Kakabaveh, is even a member of Sweden’s parliament. Erdogan wants Sweden to curtail its links to Kurdish groups and end its suspension of arms exports to Turkey.”

EVERY BUBBLE POPS: The Great Leveler Is Coming, Mimi. “Thanks in large measure to the SUPERgenius economic management of the Biden Administration, the world is now exiting an era of historically cheap money and entering a period of rising interest rates. A whole lot of business models that seemed to make sense during an era of cheap credit are going to look as retroactively foolish as Pets.com.”

BUILDING NEW INSTITUTIONS TO REPLACE THE OLD, CORRUPTED ONES: FIRE expands free-speech advocacy. “The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education is renaming itself the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (still FIRE) as it moves beyond college campuses to defend free speech everywhere. Part of the First Amendment campaign may challenge the American Civil Liberties Union’s primacy as a defender of free speech.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Karma Will Not Be Kind to the J6 Kangaroo Court Commies. “If, like me, you’ve lost count of how many desperate attempts the Dems have made to avoid electoral slaughter in November you can be forgiven. Rumor has it that a team at Caltech is working on keeping a tally.”

MORE ON BARI WEISS ON LEAVING OLD MEDIA BEHIND:

Glenn already blogged her latest, but there’s another part worth breaking out:

The real way I finally left old media is through the thrill of building something new.

The moment I began this publication was the moment everything changed for me. As someone who was used to sitting in the bleachers with the other critics, I finally understood what all that talk about building new things was about. I’m making something that I am proud of with people I admire. People I respect value it enough that they are willing to pay for it to make sure it exists in the world. For me, all of this has been a revelation.

As we’ve been building this new company, we’ve seen the decay of the old institutions accelerate. I look at CNN+, which shut down after just 21 days. The streamer, hyped nonstop by CNN, spent $300 million—or $14,285,714.29 per day. In the end, 150,000 Americans signed up, with an average of 10,000 people watching any content each day. (By comparison, we have more than 180,000 people that receive this newsletter. We did not spend $300 million to achieve this.) Or I look at Spotify, and remember they paid the Obamas $25 million in 2019 to make some podcasts, little of which has had any impact. Or Buzzfeed, which is now basically a penny stock, trading at $2.23 a share.

Welcome to the future, Bari — some have been here a while, but it’s always good to have fresh blood.

APPEASING THE GREEN LOBBY AT YOUR EXPENSE: Biden Administration Quietly Raised Amount of Ethanol Required in Summer Blend Gasoline from Ten Percent to Fifteen, Three Predictable Problems Will Surface Soon.

Her’s the third issue:

“Ethanol is a valuable source of octane in finished gasoline, but it is chemically different than petroleum gasoline and cannot be used in concentrations above 10 percent in small engines — like outboard boat motors, motorcycles, lawnmowers, generators or chain saws — or in any cars made before 2001. Complicating matters further, most cars on the road today still aren’t warrantied to run on gasoline with more than 10 percent ethanol. Retail stations also must have compatible infrastructure in order to sell gasoline with higher ethanol blends.” This issue is known within the industry as “The Blend Wall.”

Everything is going swimmingly.
