KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Dear J6 Kangaroo Court — When You’ve Lost Rachel Maddow… “There is so much wrong with this charade that it seems almost impossible that anyone would be buying it, yet there are some people out there who are gullible enough to believe that a drunk dude in a fur cap and a few of his chubby friends almost overthrew the United States government.”

GAME CHANGER? MIT invents $4 solar desalination device.
The device worked for a week straight with no signs of salt accumulation, but we still don’t know exactly how long it could operate.
But the best news is that it would cost just $4 to build a solar desalination device large enough to meet the drinking water needs of a family of four, according to the MIT team. If it does prove durable, it could be a relatively cheap way to get freshwater to people in need of it.
“I think a real opportunity is the developing world,” Wang said.
Or in the de-developing parts of the world, like California.

YOU DON’T SAY: Biden’s age would be ‘major issue’ if he runs again, Axelrod says.
Former senior Obama adviser David Axelrod warned that President Biden’s age could be a “major issue” in the 2024 presidential election.
“The presidency is a monstrously taxing job and the stark reality is the president would be closer to 90 than 80 at the end of a second term, and that would be a major issue,” Axelrod told The New York Times of 79-year-old Biden.
“He looks his age and isn’t as agile in front of a camera as he once was, and this has fed a narrative about competence that isn’t rooted in reality,” he added.
Axelrod used to be a lot better at the spin.

AMERICAN HEROES: A Would-Be School Invader In Alabama Failed When The Doors Were Locked And Police Weren’t Cowards.
While Democrats continue exploiting the Uvalde shooting victims to prattle on about “assault weapons” and so-called “common-sense gun control,” another school was attacked on Thursday, but it won’t make the headlines.
That’s because this school — Walnut Park Elementary School in Gadsden, Alabama — didn’t have any victims except the would-be invader, who was shot dead by police after he tried and failed to bust into the building. Here’s how it all reportedly went down.
A passerby saw a man “aggressively” trying to get into the school building. When the man was unsuccessful, he tried several other doors, all of which were locked. The responsible observer called to report the man, the school principal put the building on lockdown and called in a police officer who doubles as the school resource officer, and that officer called for backup. If the reports are correct, the chain of command worked smoothly thanks to decisive action and quickly followed protocols.
The resource officer reportedly engaged the would-be invader, who then also allegedly attempted to forcefully enter a marked police vehicle and to take the officer’s gun. More police officers rushed to the scene to help, and the assailant was shot and killed. According to the city’s school superintendent, the schoolchildren who were there “seemed to be unaware the incident occurred.”
In other words, a man who “aggressively” tried to break into a school and take the firearm of a police officer was stopped because doors were properly locked and police officers acted bravely and urgently.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Biden Can’t Fix Inflation If He Can’t Stop Lying About It. “For several months now I have been accusing the Biden administration of not having any plan whatsoever when it comes to dealing with inflation. It would appear that I have been wrong all along. Upon closer inspection, it’s obvious that their plan is to simply hope that everyone is really bad at math.”
WELCOME TO THE PARTY, PAL: Economist Mohamed El-Erian says most inflation ‘could have been avoided’ if Fed acted earlier. “There was so much we didn’t understand about the post-COVID inflation that humility would have been a good idea.”

SPACE: SpaceX expecting long-awaited Starship decision on Monday.
Following several earlier delays of the publication of its verdict, the FAA said at the end of May that it would need another couple of weeks to complete its so-called Programmatic Environmental Assessment, the results of which will determine if SpaceX can launch the Starship from Boca Chica.
The delay is partly down to the FAA needing more time to complete consultations with a range of government departments, and also to finish reviewing all of the 17,000-plus public comments that were submitted during the assessment process.
You can’t help but wonder how many of those 17,000 public comments might have been paid-for spam.
