CHANGE: In a Rebuke to Teachers Unions, School Choice Is Going Gangbusters in the States.

In addition to these nine states, dozens of others are considering measures to expand education freedom and opportunity to students. An unprecedented 29 states have already introduced similar measures this year that will create or expand vouchers, tax credit scholarships, and education savings accounts, according to the Educational Freedom Institute.

According to EdChoice, more than 20 of those states have introduced education savings account options specifically. For families, these proposals represent lifelines to opportunities previously unavailable to them in their public school.

If one good thing comes out of the last year, it’s this.

JOY PULLMANN: An FBI So Corrupt It Lets Mass Shooters Rampage Needs To Go. “While the FBI has been failing to stop terrorist attacks by known threats, it has conducted numerous political operations on behalf of Democrats. It’s time to clean house.”

Take off and nuke the site from orbit. It’s the only way to be sure.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. DeSantis Continues To Crush It. “The bloom is fully off the rose when it comes to South Dakota governor Kristi Noem, who vetoed her state’s bill banning men from competing in women’s sports despite having promised to sign it. But fellow red state governor Ron DeSantis, a hero for his early lifting of the counterproductive lockdowns that crippled the economies of other states, continues to crush it.”

VODKAPUNDIT PRESENTS YOUR DAILY INSANITY WRAP: Is Kamala Harris the Worst Person in the World? (Maybe!)

Insanity Wrap needs to know: What’s so funny about parents needing to endure a year of public school closures just to teach them the real value of public school teachers who still won’t go back to work?

Answer: Beats us. You’ll have to ask Kamala Harris.

Before we get to the sordid details, a quick preview of today’s Wrap.

  • Republicans pounce on “children,” but not in a Jeffrey Epstein way

Bonus Sanity: Texas followed the science better than the “follow the science” people ever followed any science.

And so much more at the link, you’d have to be crazy to miss it.

HMM: Citing lack of an FAA inspector, SpaceX waives off Starship launch.

As part of the agreement reached by SpaceX and the Federal Aviation Administration—which provides permitting for commercial launches—a federal observer must be on-site for test flights of the Starship vehicle.

For some reason, perhaps a weather-related travel delay or perhaps something else, an inspector was not available for Monday’s launch attempt. “FAA inspector unable to reach Starbase in time for launch today. Postponed to no earlier than tomorrow,” SpaceX founder Elon Musk tweeted on Monday.

Purposeful foot-dragging, or just one of those things?

THAT’S BECAUSE IT’S A TERRIBLE IDEA: Algorithms will soon be in charge of hiring and firing. Not everyone thinks this is a good idea.

One of the most compelling examples is that of AI tools being used in the first stages of the hiring process for new jobs, where algorithms can be used to scrape CVs for key information and sometimes undertake background checks to analyze candidate data. In a telling illustration of how things might go wrong, Amazon’s attempts to deploy this type of technology were scrapped after it was found that the model discriminated against women’s CVs.

According to the TUC, if left unchecked AI could, therefore, lead to greater discrimination in high-impact decisions, such as hiring and firing employees.

Mostly AI will allow HR to shrug off bad decisions with “but the algo said to.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Barely Coherent Biden Is Still Babbling About Mask Mandates. “Democrats, however, find it impossible to resist the urge to have the government in control of every aspect of our lives. They’re really creepy that way. They can’t wrap their heads around the thought of the citizens doing the right thing without being threatened by bureaucratic tyrants. Kinda makes you wonder what kind of people they really are if they think of others that way.”
