HOW WRITERS HAVE FUN: The Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest.
Yes, we do sit around every once in a while admiring these. Okay, it’s not the ONLY way we have fun. Sometimes we drink. Sometimes we drink while reading these. (It helps.)
HOW WRITERS HAVE FUN: The Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest.
Yes, we do sit around every once in a while admiring these. Okay, it’s not the ONLY way we have fun. Sometimes we drink. Sometimes we drink while reading these. (It helps.)
UN-REALITY BASED: Democrats fund-raise on Obama’s poor debate performance. No, really. Because money will fix everything. Or something.
SHE DOESN’T MENTION UFOS: Kris Rusch explains why writers disappear. (This is something that baffles fans — why a writer stops writing a series that seems to be going well. The first point answers most my instances of doing so.)
BECAUSE SHE HAS ENOUGH MONEY NOT TO WORRY ABOUT FUEL PRICES: Daryl Hannah Arrested in Texas Protesting Pipeline. (And I see from the picture she’s acquiring the weird cat-face of people who have too much plastic surgery. HOW can anyone think that looks good?)
THE STUPID, THE STUPID, IT BURNS: Apparently Romney’s motorcade passed a hill where someone else was flying a confederate flag. Note how the reporter’s bad grammar biased phrasing implies it was Romney’s motorcade flying the flag. This is how you know they’re not sure of victory. In fact, they’re scared to death. And they should be.
GENDER, CLASS, HISTORY — EH. I’M SHORT AND I LIKE HIGH HEELS: In fact, there’s a pair of shoes in my closet that looks almost exactly like that picture. And I’ll be skinny enough to wear them again, before I’m too old. Get thee behind me, carbs.
SHE WAS NOT CALLING RYAN OUT: Woman who asked Ryan questions about economic plan shocked to find herself used in Obama statement. And she’d like the president to answer the question Ryan answered. I would love that, too — completely, directly and with no spin, please!
THAT’S WHAT THIS ELECTION SEASON NEEDS: All your chocolate are belong to us. And THIS ONE is practically low carb!
TURNS OUT IT’S BASED ON A POLL: (a specialized poll, but a poll nonetheless) Why That 7.8% Unemployment Figure is raising eyebrows. By the way, as linked at the bottom of that article, Gallup conducted its own poll and found no improvement.
DISENFRANCHISING (DEAD AND DUPLICATE) VOTERS: Representative Elijah Cummings is very hot under the collar about True The Vote. One hates to speculate why.
EVERYONE KNOWS THE ECONOMIST IS A RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY SITE! — RIGHT? ECONOMISTS FROM RDQ ECONOMICS: Economists: unemployment drop “implausible,” a “statistical quirk.” Yeah, I misread it as being The Economist. Not sure how, but I’m going to blame lack of chocolate. Point doesn’t change. The economists ( John Ryding and Conrad DeQuadros) say:
Such a rapid decline in the unemployment rate would be consistent with 4%–5% real economic growth historically but much of the decline is accounted for by people dropping out of the labor force (over the last year the employment-population ratio has risen to only 58.7% from 58.4%). We believe part of the drop in the unemployment rate over the last two months is a statistical quirk (the household data show an increase in employment of 873,000 in September, which is completely implausible and likely a result of sampling volatility). Moreover, declining labor force participation over the last year (resulting in 1.1 million people disappearing from the labor force) accounts for much of the rest of the decline. With this report, the ISMs, and vehicle sales, the September economy is off to a better-than-expected start but nowhere near as good as suggested by the decline in the unemployment rate.
So, it’s still who are you going to believe? Them or your lying eyes? Do you see the economy booming around you, if you don’t live in DC?
THE WAGES OF OBAMACARE: Why part time unemployment is surging but not full time employment.
TO TAKE IT MUCH LOWER YOU’D NEED A STEAM SHOVEL: New Obama Talking Point: Romney Talking Down the Economy Yeah, pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. The economy is fine. And if you say it’s not, it’s your fault. Who are you going to believe? The administration or your lying pocketbook?
FAT CAT BIRD ON WELFARE: Big Bird Richer Than Mitt Romney… and pays less in taxes.
I’M SHOCKED, SHOCKED: small business owners in swing states give debate edge to Romney.
THE DOGS OF POLITICS: If you talk about Romney’s dog incident, shouldn’t you talk about Obama’s?
OBAMA LIED: the economy died.
OBAMA LIED: Pensions Died
KNOW YOUR MEDIA: Obama twitter feed effectively takes over WaPo’s website
OBAMA’S VERY VERY BAD NO-GOOD DAY, PART TWO: Taiwan, animation, need I say more? (They got Big Bird!)
NOW YOU KNOW YOUR PLACE: there was this guy in the village where I grew up, who was routinely beat up by his wife. When he couldn’t take any more, he salved his pride by jumping out into the middle of the street and screaming so the whole village could hear “Now you know your place. Now you know I’m a real man.” For some reason, this made me think of him.
DON’T LET THEM GET AWAY WITH IT: We all know the media is going to come back with renewed fury because they were made to look bad. Conservatives must not under any circumstances cede the moral high ground to the media that buried terror against our embassies and on 9/11 at that and which refuses to show any curiosity about Fast and Furious. Always assume they have no moral high ground to stand on. Unless a pile of corpses is high ground. (Video.) Don’t surrender. Put THEM on the defensive. (For some reason this blog starts halfway down the page, at least on my browser.)
THE AARP WOULD LIKE OBAMA TO LOSE THEIR NUMBER: is this the same AARP that shilled for Obamacare? Yeah, I think it is.
