BIDENHARRISNOMICS IS WORKING: Financial pressures on American consumers continue to rise.

It is the untold story of how inflation affects America’s households: credit card debt.

When hikes in basic food, clothing, energy, utility, and insurance costs started to hit families three years ago, many families who lived paycheck to paycheck across the United States had to make a decision: “Go without” or go into debt to take care of their basic needs.

To put this in perspective: A whopping 65% of respondents indicated that they live paycheck to paycheck, according to a recent “Your Money International Financial Security Survey” by CNBC and SurveyMonkey, which polled 498 U.S. adults.

That 65% could include your neighbor, your family member, your child’s soccer coach, or you.

It is not even a debt of frivolity. It is a debt born of necessity, and it is only going to get worse.

That’s from Salena Zito so read the whole thing.

And if “Bidenharrisnomics” doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, at one time Harris was happy to take credit.

GOOD SUM-UP:

OLD AND BUSTED: Make America Great Again.

The New Hotness? Make America Cuba Again! Castro writ large: Kamala Harris declares war on wreckers and hoarders.

If you thought the economy couldn’t get worse under Joe Biden, wait ’til you get a load of what Kamala Harris has in store for it.

According to The Hill:

Vice President Harris on Friday will outline a series of economic policy proposals as part of her presidential campaign, including a call for a federal ban on corporate price-gouging.

Harris will deliver remarks in North Carolina, a battleground state in November, where her campaign said she will focus on plans to lower the cost of groceries. The vice president will say that soaring meat prices in particular have contributed to a spike in grocery bills, and she will call out corporate consolidation in the market.

Those meat hike price rises, like everything else, including the price of oil, are the direct result of government overspending and money-printing that have brought us inflation. Harris proposes to control these prices, as if any business raising prices is “greedy,” cracking down on what the Bolsheviks used to call “hoarders and wreckers.”

But inflation and the interest rate hikes used to control it, hit every aspect of the economy, not just groceries, from rents to housing stock, to medical care, to credit card rates, to consumer goods. And they are all the function of too much money chasing too few goods, which is why prices go up.

On everything, everywhere. Inflation, as Milton Friedman has stated, is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon.

And then there is a Mobius Loop feel of the Vice President simultaneously feigning an attempt to fight inflation while her administration is insisting that inflation is not a very big issue: “It’s worth noting how contradictory that is. On the one hand, the Biden-Harris administration is claiming that inflation has been solved*. On the other hand, they are saying Republicans want to do nothing to solve inflation. In a saner media environment, such an idiotic inconsistency would be lambasted as unserious. Unfortunately, we do not live in that environment. In short, the best case here is Harris is pumping out communist drivel to win the election without any intent of actually enforcing whatever executive order she’d release. The worst case is she’s serious and the entire US economy ends up looking like something that would make Nicolas Maduro blush. Neither is a good option.”

Finally, as Victor Davis Hanson asks as the first two of “ten unanswered questions that illustrate how and why we’ve entered this bizarro world:”

  1. How can Kamala Harris merely promise us fixes to come in 2025 for inflation and an open border when she is still vice president for another six months? Why can’t she enact her proposed solutions to these problems (which she helped create) right now?
  2. Would the media prefer to help her win but lose further credibility themselves by failing to ask why she has disowned her last three decades of leftist agendas, or to reclaim some of their reputations and thereby risk her losing?

Politico indicated their approach to VDH’s second question yesterday, choosing the former option: “Trump moves to tie Harris to Biden on the economy: ‘They are a team.’”

* So much so that yesterday, a “Frustrated Biden Snaps at Reporter for Asking About Inflation. ‘My policies are working. Start writing that way, okay?’ Biden told reporters.”

His assessment here is comprehensive and instructive.

ROBERT SPENCER: Watch for It: Trump Will Be Sentenced to Prison on Sept. 18. “The whole idea is just to give the Harris campaign a powerful talking point when it’s crunch time. ‘The New York prosecution of Trump,’ McCarthy points out, ‘was politics, not justice. That’s why we call it ‘lawfare.’ The prosecutors and judge are not concerned about whether convictions ultimately get thrown out on appeal.’ It’s all just a stunt, put on from start to finish for political purposes.”

BEEGE WELBORN: Kamala’s ‘Day 1’ Is Too Late for the Biden-HARRIS Economic Damage Being Done Right Now.

Part of the Herculean job of remaking Kamala Harris into a figurehead resembling a marginally rational human being is pretending that she was never part of the administration that proudly gave us #Bidenomics. And when I say proudly, I mean just that – they thought it was the greatest thing going since sliced organic whole wheat bread.

A mere year ago, her rhetoric was chockful of “when President Biden and I took office, WE decided…” The “we’s” and the “I’s” abound through this brag session. She made sure that her tandem ownership of whatever economic mileage was to be squeezed out of #Bidenomics was stamped on it for all to see. This wasn’t Joe’s solo show at work and there was no way she was letting the old geezer get credit for the whole thing – oh, no.

IT WAS “OURS” – ME, MYSELF, I AND JOE TOGETHER.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Israel’s Enemies Are Getting Bolder by the Day. “Israel is getting ready to begin ceasefire negotiations with Hamas, but the terrorist organization and its Iranian backers could be taking advantage of divisions within the Israeli government to go for broke with their demands.”

GOOD QUESTION: Did Biden Send Officials to Tehran and Reveal Mossad Agents Who Killed Hamas Leader?

If true, this would be a shocking betrayal of our ally in uncountable ways. And unfortunately, while the accusation is so shocking that we should maintain a healthy skepticism, I believe it is quite possibly true.

Iran, of course, has very good reasons to lie, and they are hardly a trustworthy source for news about the United States or Israel. Convincing the Israelis that the United States betrayed them and has helped roll up an Israeli spy ring would be a very useful bit of disinformation, creating an almost irreparable split between the US and Israel.

The two countries share intelligence, and if the Israelis believe that the United States would give up Israeli intelligence assets to the source of most of the evil in the region and the deadliest enemy of the Jewish state, the damage would be incalculable. . . .

Unfortunately, a Biden move like this is at least credibly possible because the Biden administration has funneled billions of dollars to Iran and has been trying to forge an implicit alliance in the region. It is not a military alliance, of course, but a security understanding of how relations get more normalized.

They have, in the process, given Iran carte blanche to attack US troops and interests in the region and allowed Iran great latitude to attack our allies, including Israel, without serious consequences.

So, is this report possibly accurate? Of course, it is.

Is it accurate? I have no idea, either whether it is true or how we could ever find out.

Someone knows, but they’re not telling.

JOANNE JACOBS: Teaching the election: It’s not a crusade.

Social studies teachers are eager to discuss the election — students might actually care! — but also very nervous about out-of-control classroom debates and angry parents, writes Elizabeth Heubeck in Education Week.

Jennifer Morgan teaches social studies at a Wisconsin middle school in a “really, really bright red” district, she says. Her views are different. “I plan to stick to the facts,” she said.

However, “some of the teachers I’ve talked to have been told by their administrators not to teach it,” said Morgan, president of the National Council for the Social Studies. “And others are just really nervous about teaching it, because they’re fearful of what will come out of students’ mouths.”

I was taking AP U.S. history in 1968, the year Vice President Hubert Humphrey faced former Vice President Richard Nixon. I had no idea which candidate my teacher favored.

I was in high school a bit later, in the mid-’80s. We talked politics some in history and econ but it wasn’t seen as a big deal — probably every subject from geometry to gym hadn’t yet been politicized.

IT’S ENOUGH THAT ELON MUSK HAS BEEN DECLARED AN ENEMY OF THE REGIME: “Fintan O’Toole’s solution for what ails these islands is that Elon Musk be ‘held personally to the same standards of criminal justice’ as others. Here, O’Toole recommends state imposed criminal sanctions for Musk’s speech and for Musk’s permitting others to speak on Twitter (now X). But O’Toole never explains what specific speech by Musk is at issue, and more importantly, what specific Irish or EU law was violated by that speech.”
