YEAH, THE AMERICA IS ALL THE SAME IS ONE OF THE MOST ANNOYING EUROPEAN ILLUSIONS:  America is All the Same.

ADAM ANDRZEJEWSKI, RIP: Open the Books founder and CEO Adam Andrzejewski, 55, passed away over the weekend. Further details of the cause and for his funeral services are pending.

Adam is one of the most admirable men I have known in my nearly 50 years in politics and journalism. Through his organization, Open the Books, Adam did more in the past decade and a half than any other person I can think of to make American government transparent and accountable. America has lost a true patriot. I have lost a great friend.

When news of Adam’s passing reached earlier this evening, I was reminded of a tribute I did for him and Open the Books for PJMedia last year. Re-reading it tonight is almost jarring because he always seemed to be in great health, full of energy and enthusiasm. He was training to run in the Chicago Marathon in October.

Open the Books, which Adam was inspired to start by Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.), the main force behind passage of the Federal Financial Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) that resulted in creation of USASpending.gov, will go on and continue to be a major force for open and accountable government. And Adam will be remembered every step of the way.

OPEN THREAD: Don’t hide your light under a bushel.

EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY:

Totally sane. Good for appealing to moderate voters.

THEY’RE ALWAYS ERASING WOMEN, BUT WOMEN STILL VOTE FOR THEM:

Well, unmarried women, mostly.

R.I.P. PHIL DONAHUE. “The humorist Erma Bombeck, a friend of his from Dayton, described Mr. Donahue as ‘every wife’s replacement for the husband who doesn’t talk to her.'”

I like to remember him for this gem:

Imagine how Milton Friedman would be treated on The View.

WOEING: Space Suit Designs Could Stall Boeing Starliner Astronauts’ Return From the International Space Station. “Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, the two astronauts Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft ferried into space in June, face an interesting conundrum about how they finally get home. Their ride back to Earth is in question thanks to issues with Starliner, and NASA is poised to make critical decisions on the issue soon. One of the toughest questions about their return trip from space has nothing to do with rockets. Instead, the latest issue centers around space suit sockets and seats. . . . The problem is simple: Should Butch and Suni need to fly back aboard SpaceX’s vehicle, their suits won’t fit in Dragon’s seats.”
