DISBARMENT AHEAD FOR STANFORD LAW STUDENTS WHO PROTESTED JUDGE: George Washington University Law Emeritus Professor John Banzhaf has informed Stanford University School of Law officials that he intends to file a Bar complaint against the students who disrupted a lecture by Federal Circuit Court Judge Kyle Duncan.

“‘It appears that you have not taken any steps to discipline or otherwise sanction the student violators,’ Banzhaf said in a letter to Jenny Martinez, the law school’s dean, who has since ruled out punishing the hecklers. As such, the complaint ‘will have links to video recordings of the disruption so that bar officials can judge the students’ conduct for themselves,'” according to the Washington Free Beacon’s Aaron Sibarium.

“The California bar requires applicants to demonstrate ‘respect for the rights of others and for the judicial process.’ That means the students who disrupted Duncan—in part by telling him ‘we hope your daughters get raped’—could be in for a rude awakening if Banzhaf makes good on his threat.”

Let us hope he is able to make his point “good and hard,” as a former Baltimore newspaper guy used to say.

JOEL KOTKIN ON THE GROWING RIFT BETWEEN SILICON VALLEY AND THE MASSES: How the tech elites lost touch with reality. “Silicon Valley used to be a place of innovation, dynamism and ambition. A place where hard-working people could make the products of the future, and make something of themselves, too. But no more. The forward-thinking engineers of old have been replaced by a new elite, made up mainly of financiers, media types and NGO bureaucrats. The new overlords of tech are more interested in virtue-signalling and woke proselytising than in building and making things. Theirs is a world built on the sand of cheap credit and Democratic Party largesse, as shown by the bailout of Silicon Valley Bank earlier this month. And it’s a world increasingly removed from the rest of America.”

Plus: “There are a couple of things that have happened. The first is that, obviously, the initial people in Silicon Valley were engineers. They’ve been replaced by people who are increasingly oriented towards finance and media. There’s much more aristocracy today in Silicon Valley than there was when it was coming up. There’s a greater emphasis on credentials and pedigree.”

Never a good sign.

I ASSUMED THIS WAS FAKE, BUT IT’S NOT. Super-professional highlighting mine.

YEAH, PRETTY MUCH:

HAPPY 93D BIRTHDAY TO John Astin.

OPEN THREAD: Enjoy!

MARK JUDGE: American Psycho: The Hatred for Women That Lurks in Gay and Trans Culture.

In 2018, the videographer Monica Rodman published a remarkable article in The Advocate, a gay magazine. Rodman recalled being verbally abused while working on the set of a film. The director of the film, a gay man named George, was “acting unnecessarily hostile toward women, and women only. He treated the men on set as his equals and the women as subsidiaries.”

Rodman had brought up the hate that dare not speak its name: the hatred too many gay men have for women. That enmity has been noted by cultural observers going back at least as far as the gay writer Gore Vidal. It also fuels the modern trans and drag show movements.

The main reason’s obvious: to gay men, women are competition. Gore Vidal wrote about this back in the 1950s. To a gay man, the ideal mate is strong, handsome, athletic, loaded with testosterone, muscular and brave … not effeminate. In short, an idealized straight man. As Vidal saw it, this accounted for a lot of the unhappiness in the male gay community. Their goal is always out of reach.

TO BE HONEST, THIS IS A CHARITABLE ASSESSMENT OF OUR RULING CLASS AND CHINA:

If you don’t wake up every morning cursing those responsible for defense and China policy in the 1990s … the gobsmackingly short sighted arrogance of it all – then what use are you, actually?

With a few exceptions, from partially completed CV rusting in Ukraine, to teaching the Communist Chinese how to MIRV ICBM warheads, to opening up our best research institutions to spies and assets, the USA was beset internally by unserious people with the attention span of a hamster and the historical perspective of a newborn in serious jobs requiring long-term thinking and decision making.

The harvest of this decade of frivolity continue to ripen, and via Jeremy Bogaisky, at Forbes – get ready to rage – we have just one more example; one that if we actually come to blows with the People’s Republic of China or those who buy their weapons – will result in more dead American men and women – more mutilated wounded.

People and perspective matter. It appears the PRC has known this for decades.

Plus: “Where was the CIA, the FBI? Oh, that’s right – playing around in domestic politics.” Some things don’t change.

THE COUNTRY’S IN THE VERY BEST OF HANDS: Executive Director of the San Jose Police Officers’ Association charged with importing fentanyl. “The executive director of the San Jose Police Officers’ Association (SJPOA) has been charged with attempting to illegally import a controlled substance, according to the United States Department of Justice. Joanne Marian Segovia, 64, is accused of ordering thousands of opioids to her home and agreeing to distribute them in the United States. A federal criminal complaint states that Segovia used her personal and office computers to order the drugs between October 2015 and January 2023, including fentanyl. At least 61 shipments were mailed to her home from countries including Hong Kong, Hungary, and India, the DOJ said.”

DESANTIS FIRES BACK AT MANHATTAN D.A. OVER TRUMP INDICTMENT:

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head,” DeSantis said in a statement. “It is un-American. The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct. Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.”

“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda,” DeSantis added.

Flashback: Are Democrats Deliberately Making Trump a Martyr to Boost Him With GOP Voters?

Many predict that this move will backfire dramatically on the Democrats.

“If this happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide victory,” Elon Musk tweeted in response to a report about Trump’s potential pending arrest.

He’s not alone in thinking this way. “If they handcuff Trump, he is your next president,” Scott Adams predicts.

Trump Defense Lawyer Joe Tacopina agrees. “I believe this will catapult him into the White House.”

Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire has another theory. “They want Trump to be the Republican nominee,” Walsh tweeted Saturday, referring to the Democrats. “That’s obviously the play here. There is no other conceivable reason to arrest and perp walk him on a bulls—t misdemeanor charge. I might be overestimating the tactical intelligence of the idiot power-hungry hacks behind this. But if there is any political strategy then that has to be it.”

It’s a fascinating theory, for sure, but I think it gives Democrats too much credit and ignores some key facts. As I previously pointed out, Democrats, including the thugs in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office, have been desperately trying to pin something on Trump for years. The party base believes Trump is guilty of something, even if they don’t know what that is, so there’s enormous pressure to give the base what they want.

WOW: SpaceX 80% of Space Payloads in 2023 and 99.99% in 2026. “SpaceX and China were roughly tied in 2022 with 61 and 62 orbital launches but SpaceX had more payload. Combined SpaceX and China were 80% of orbital launches in 2022. SpaceX is on pace to double its launches in 2023. Elon indicates that SpaceX should deliver 80% of all of the payloads in 2023. This is even without the Super Heavy Starship getting into operation. Super Heavy Starship will eventually have more frequent launches and each launch will have five to ten times the payload.”

And much cheaper.

SEPSIS UPDATE: Combo of two steroids may reduce death risk for people with sepsis. “Researchers found that patients receiving a combination of hydrocortisone and fludrocortisone had lower death rates and discharge to hospice compared to those who received hydrocortisone alone.”

Nothing here about intravenous Vitamin C, which other studies have found helpful both alone and in combination with steroids.

TRUMP INDICTED. What could go wrong?

CHANGE: That’s not a human talking to you in the fast food drive-thru. “Wingstop has become the latest fast food restaurant to start using AI bots to take customers’ orders. It is joining the likes of some of the most famous fast food chains around, including McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Chipotle, Popeye’s and Domino’s. The AI voice bots are mostly being used for drive-thru services and for taking orders over the phone. However, I wouldn’t be surprised if these fast food chains start incorporating the technology for taking orders at the counter as well.”

What we’re really seeing is the end of traditional entry-level jobs and the real-world education they provide.
