BOOK RECOMMENDATION: The Pursuit of the Pankera: A Parallel Novel About Parallel Universes.
COULDN’T HAPPEN TO A NICER BUNCH OF SEXUAL PREDATORS AND PREDATOR-ENABLERS: Lincoln Project in Ruins: Disgraced Super PAC Abandons Headquarters (Photos). “The Lincoln Project, a Democratic-aligned super PAC widely loathed for enabling the sexual exploitation of young men, has abandoned its once-celebrated headquarters in Park City, Utah. Visual evidence obtained by the Washington Free Beacon confirms that the office space is now empty, save for the memories its former inhabitants made along the way and whatever ghastly demons they may have conjured in the process.”
CLOSED MINDS ON BOTH SIDES: Of the Faith vs Science debates, that is. Dr. Tim McGrew has in mind the influential 18th century philosopher David Hume, a multitude of contemporary folks who refuse to consider the possibility of miracles, and a whole bunch of folks in between. Put another way, just as there are Bible Thumpers, so are there Darwin Thumpers, Materialists Thumpers, and so on.
UPDATE (FROM GLENN): If you believe in the theory that our universe is probably a massive computer simulation, as so many of our brightest do, then it seems to me it’s impossible to disbelieve in miracles, since we have no idea what cheat codes are buried in the software.
K-12 IMPLOSION UPDATE: Teaching Race in Kindergarten.
Under the colorblind approach, we were taught to view people as individuals, to emphasize our common humanity, and to avoid racial or ethnic generalizations. Under the new racialism, we are told that it is naïve to believe that transcending race is possible in a society where every institution is shaped by past and present racism; therefore, we need to acknowledge, emphasize, and place value on racial categories.
If you want to know how this new racialism manifests in the real world, look no further than Oregon’s Kindergarten 2021 Social Science Standards, which have been updated to integrate “ethnic studies.” Standards like this one lay out the knowledge, skills, and understandings that educators are expected to impart to their students, and teachers use them as a rough guide for composing their lessons for the year. Although Oregon schools are not required to implement these new standards until 2026, they have been approved for classroom use as of March of this year.
This is kindergarten — teach the kids to not eat paste, not CRT.
Speaking of which: Glenn Kessler’s hit-piece-in-progress on Christopher Rufo blew up in his face.
Exit quote: “I just screwed the Washington Post…and it is glorious.”
FAUCI MORPHED INTO MICHAEL VICK SO SLOWLY, I HARDLY EVEN NOTICED: Dr. Fauci’s Federal Agency Spent $424K Cruelly Experimenting on and Euthanizing Beagles, Exposé Reveals.
THE BIDEN ADMINISTRATION’S COVID DOUBLE STANDARD: Tourists must now provide proof of vaccination. Illegal immigrants get a free pass.
See, if you do stuff like this people will get the idea that it’s about control, not about health.

And from Michael Barone: The Manhattan Project’s ‘Martians’ Didn’t Look Like America. “The Manhattan Project didn’t look like America. Undertaken today, it would be criticized for failing to meet diversity and inclusion guidelines.”

As Jim Treacher noted on Monday: Democrats Don’t Need Masks Because They’re Better Than You. “The virus knows. It knows what you’re doing and why you’re doing it, and it only punishes people who don’t read The Atlantic or listen to NPR. If you can recite a MyPillow ad from memory, you need to wear a mask when you’re told to wear a mask. But if you can pick Lin-Manuel Miranda out of a lineup, you don’t have anything to worry about. That’s how COVID-19 works. That’s just the settled science.”
THE 21st CENTURY IS NOT TURNING OUT AS I HAD HOPED: Women’s Prison Dealing With ‘Wave of Pregnancies’ in Wake of California’s ‘Compassionate’ Trans Law.
CLEAN POWER FROM SPACE: Space solar power project got off the ground with billionaire’s $100 million donation.
THAT DEPENDS. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT 20 FEET OF ASH? Yellowstone Just Recorded Over 1000 Earthquakes in One Month. Should We Be Worried? No, not really. “While above average, this level of seismicity is not unprecedented, and it does not reflect magmatic activity. If magmatic activity were the cause of the quakes, we would expect to see other indicators, like changes in deformation style or thermal/gas emissions, but no such variations were detected.”
CAN YOU GUESS WHO WINS IF BIDEN FORCES U.S. TO GO EV? Wait for it … no, not U.S. consumers … not the UAW, whose leaders haven’t figured it out yet … no, not low-income car buyers. It will be … China. Anybody want to guess how much Hunter and the Big Guy make on the deal?
THIS IS NOT HOW SCIENCE IS DONE: NPR, of all sources, reports the placebo groups of the Pfizer and Moderna clinical trials were essentially dissolved after the vaccines received experimental approval from the FDA.
All of those who received a placebo were given the opportunity to get the real shot and virtually all did so. That pretty effectively ended the trials with no way to compare what happened to those in the two respective groups. Strictly coincidental, right?
MY STUDENTS WERE UNHAPPY WITH THE ONLINE BAR PROCTORING: New study examines privacy and security perceptions of online education proctoring services. “Students express concern about the amount and the personal nature of information shared with exam proctoring companies.”
ANALYSIS: TRUE. Kurt Schlichter: Liberals Hate It That You Have Rights.
DOES OWEN JONES HAVE A WOMAN PROBLEM?
Perhaps I am wrong and I have merely been able to express my views on trans issues either because nobody has noticed what I have written or because everybody knows I am a lost cause and highly unlikely to be bullied into silence. But then it may simply be the fact that I am a man.
After all, countless female authors have written articles expressing scepticism towards the transgender movement — many of them more moderate than my own. Yet almost every time, I have watched in horror as online and offline mobs are stirred up against them and not me. Julie Bindel, Kathleen Stock, Selina Todd, JK Rowling, Abigail Shrier, Helen Joyce — some of these women have been subjected to physical assault; the rest threatened with it.
Joyce, whose excellent book Trans came out last month, is just the latest to be hounded. For her troubles — a deeply researched, humane and thoughtful piece of work — she was subjected to entirely baseless and libellous claims of, among much else, anti-Semitism. Because there is nothing a trans extremist won’t say to try to intimidate their opponents. Libel laws appear not to bother them.
Another of the things that all these attempted witch-hunts have in common is that they are orchestrated by a small number of highly motivated activists who behave as they do precisely because they are so deliriously certain that they are on the right side. And no one is more certain in this regard than the YouTuber Owen Jones.
Bigotry takes many forms. Lately it often appears disguised as a fight for equality.

IT’S OFTEN BETTER, AND AT LEAST YOU DON’T CATCH SOMETHING WORSE WHILE SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM: Most in rural areas ‘comfortable’ with telehealth during pandemic, study finds.
QUESTION ASKED: Could Newsom Actually Be Recalled?
The California recall election against Gov. Gavin Newsom had been a fairly quiet affair, with Republicans considered a long shot at best to oust him. That was before two polls from Emerson College and another for the Los Angeles Times showed support for the recall reaching around 47%. More ominously for Newsom, opposition to the recall has fallen below 50%. If undecideds break strongly enough for “remove,” he could lose. Against this backdrop is the specter of the 2003 recall, when California voters replaced Gray Davis with Arnold Schwarzenegger. If Republicans could pull off the feat once, they might do so again in 2021.
It’s certain gotten Gov. French Laundry running a bit scared: Nervous Newsom attacks Larry Elder, says homeless camps are ‘not acceptable.’
Newsom’s tough talk on homeless camps comes just a week after he told a group of newspapers, “Don’t ever confuse me with the defund police movement.” That may not sound like much in the rest of the country but in California, this is definitely moving to the right. Progressives who haven’t learned their lesson from Nina Turner’s loss in Ohio ought to pay attention. Newsom is many things but he’s not dumb. He knows the far left positions on these issues are losers.
Newsom suddenly against homeless camps and defunding the police? When a man knows he is to face a recall election in a couple of fortnights, it concentrates his mind wonderfully.
READER BOOK RECOMMENDATION: Donald Sensing recommends Memories of A Man With Wanderlust.
