WHITE HOUSE TO WITHDRAW BIDEN’S PRO-GUN CONTROL ATF NOMINEE DAVID CHIPMAN AMID BIPARTISAN PUSHBACK.
The White House is reportedly planning to withdraw David Chipman’s nomination to head up the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) amid pushback from Republicans and uncertain support among Democrats.
President Joe Biden’s pick has been marred with issues, including pushing questionable claims about the Waco operation on a Reddit thread in an effort to back restrictions against “so-called assault rifles,” as the Daily Caller News Foundation previously reported. He also allegedly made a racist comment about black ATF agents.
Chipman backed various gun control measures on that Reddit thread and was described by CNN as a “fierce advocate for gun control.” He is currently a senior policy advisor at the gun control group Giffords. The Washington Post and Politico both reported that the administration plans to withdraw Chipman’s nomination.

Jones said the former ATF agent recalled Chipman saying: ‘Wow, there were an unusually large number of African American agents that passed the exam this time. They must have been cheating.’”

We confront our appalling moment: Biden and Blinken’s leadership failures and the State Department’s ineptitude have created a prolonged hostage situation. The failures and ineptitude also spurred the chaos that led to the deaths of 13 U.S. military personnel.

REALCLEARINVESTIGATIONS: Introducing RealClearInvestigations’ New Jan. 6-BLM Dataset.
Republicans, Trump supporters, and others see a double standard at play in Democrats’ emphasis on Jan. 6. They note that many Democrats cheered nationwide protests and some even put up bail after the May 2020 murder of George Floyd, a black man, by a white police officer — prolonged unrest that generated far more death and destruction. They argue that groups associated with the summer’s violence, such as Black Lives Matter and Antifa, themselves aim to subvert democracy, and acted accordingly in targeting cops, public offices, and private businesses.
The electorate itself is divided, but doesn’t necessarily view this issue as an either/or choice. Polling shows that a large majority of Americans support the idea of examining the causes of both the 2020 summer riots in America’s cities and the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.
It is clear, then, that many Americans see two sides to this story. In keeping with its mission to fill gaps in press coverage, RealClearInvestigations is launching a running compendium of data, with hyperlinked sourcing, comparing the damage done on Jan. 6, and the subsequent treatment of those accused of perpetrating it, with two other recent events: the summer 2020 riots and – in some ways a closer analogy – the all-but-forgotten riot in Washington on Inauguration Day 2017, as protesters challenged Donald Trump’s election and legitimacy much as Jan. 6 rioters challenged Joe Biden’s. . . .
RealClearInvestigations has found that:
The summer 2020 riots resulted in some 15 times more injured police officers, 30 times as many arrests, and estimated damages in dollar terms up to 1,300 times more costly than those of the Capitol riot. George Floyd rioters were found to have used more sophisticated and dangerous tactics than did the Capitol rioters, and in some cases weapons of greater lethality.
Authorities have pursued the largely Trump-supporting Capitol rioters with substantially more vigor than suspected wrongdoers in the earlier two cases. Many accused Capitol rioters, unlike accused participants in the other riots, have been held in pretrial detention for months – with one defendant serving more time than the maximum sentence for the charge to which he pleaded guilty. Some allegedly endured solitary confinement and other mistreatment.
With authorities applying lenient prosecutorial standards in many major cities torn by the summer riots, the vast majority of charges last year were dismissed, as were charges in the Inauguration 2017 unrest. Charges have to date been dropped in only a single Capitol riot case.

KURT SCHLICHTER: Send This Incompetent Brass a Message: Don’t Enlist. “Don’t enlist or recommend others enlist, not until there is a real change in the collective mind of the military leadership that indicates that they have learned their lesson. But words cannot be enough – we need to see the same kind of massive convulsion and reform that we saw after the last Democrat/Pentagon betrayal in Vietnam. My generation of officers learned from the guys who rebuilt a ruined military, torn by careerism, lethargy, internal dissension, and the incorporation of society’s low standards in an effort to entice recruits with bribes instead of offering the rigors of service. During the Gulf War, I watched those reformers move a half million Americans (including me and my heavily armed carwash platoon) halfway around the world to the middle of a desert and then sweep an entire national army off the battlefield in 100 hours. But that was 30 years ago. This year, I watched our military bumble our way out of a disaster of our own making, leaving behind our citizens and our credibility while bringing home 13 heroes in metal cases.”

TIMELINE OF BIDEN’S ABORTION REVERSALS: Who said this in 1994? “Those of us who are opposed to abortion should not be compelled to pay for them.” Yes, that was then-Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE). That’s just a small slice of the much larger story of what Al Mohler, president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS), calls the “moral collapse” of Joe Biden.
What appears to be the key turning point came during the last two years of the Reagan presidency during Biden’s preparing for his first disastrous run for the White House. When that blew up, Biden salved his wounded pride by destroying Judge Robert Bork:
“1986: Senator Biden told the Catholic Diocese Newspaper, ‘Abortion is wrong from the moment of conception.’ NBC News also reported that he ‘seemed to offer the National Conference of Catholic Bishops moral support in pushing for limits, noting that the most effective pro-life groups are those who keep trying to push back the frontier.’ Speaking of that frontier, Senator Biden said, ‘I think medical science is moving the frontier back so that by the year 2000, we’re going to have more and more pressure, and rightfully so in my view, of moving back further and further the circumstances under which an abortion can be had.’
“1987: After a scandal erupted over Biden’s use of a British politician’s speech, he withdrew from the race for the 1988 Democratic Party presidential nomination. As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Biden orchestrates the effort to reject President Ronald Reagan’s nomination of a conservative legal scholar, Judge Robert Bork, to the Supreme Court. Biden facilitates the opposition to Bork, citing the need to defend abortion rights and other court precedents.”
It’s lengthy and detailed, but Mohler’s timeline is a sobering reminder that Biden’s corruption and hypocrisy have been there for all to see for decades.
