ROGER GOODELL HAS LEARNED NOTHING AND FORGOTTEN NOTHING: Seattle Seahawks DE Quinton Jefferson to wear ‘My Cause My Cleats’ design with image of Che Guevara.

The shoes will bear images of people Jefferson called “freedom fighters,” including Communist murderer Che Guevara, Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, black activist Malcolm X, and civil rights leader Rosa Parks.

Che Guevara is often used as an icon of revolutionary ideals but critics say that his supporters hypocritically ignore his racist and homophobic comments, and the extrajudicial murders he encouraged and committed as part of the Cuban communist revolution.

One of Kahlo’s final paintings before her death at age 47 in 1954 was titled “Self Portrait with Stalin.” As Nick Gillespie wrote at Reason in 2016, “That is some fucked-up art right there. Uncle Joe had died the year before and only the most deluded bitter-clingers were under any illusions about his reign of terror.”

Regarding Che, Ivan Osorio of the Competitive Enterprise Institute once noted:

My friend Tom Palmer says that whenever he sees somebody sporting a Che Guevara t-shirt, he likes to ask the wearer, “That’s a great t-shirt; do you have the entire collection?” The wearer usually responds either with a blank stare or by asking Tom what does he mean, to which Tom then responds: “You know, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot…”

Or as an Insta-commenter wrote in 2012, “You can’t spell douche without Che.”

I GUESS THE PROBLEM WAS THAT AS A FOREIGNER HE COULDN’T SEEK THE DEMOCRATIC NOMINATION FOR PRESIDENT: Military base shooter assailed US as ‘nation of evil.’ And I guess he didn’t have the background for an academic job. I mean, honestly, it sounds like his manifesto, assuming it’s genuine, could have come from pretty much any faculty, or Democratic campaign, in the country. And half the NFL, too, apparently.

THAT’S FRAUD BY EVO MORALES: Evo Morales: Overwhelming evidence of election fraud in Bolivia, monitors say. “An independent international audit of Bolivia’s disputed election in October has detailed “deliberate” and “malicious” efforts to rig the vote in favour of then-President Evo Morales. The Organization of American States (OAS) said the measures included hidden servers and falsified signatures. Mr Morales fled to Mexico after the army urged him to quit. He has not commented on the report.”

You can’t trust commies. Or “socialists.”

MANDARIN MEDIA NOT EVEN TRYING TO HIDE THEIR BIAS ANYMORE:

Item 1, from last January 21, a classic example of how “smart” and perceptive our media mandarins are:

Now Kamala Harris Is a 2020 Candidate, Trump Has No Chance at Winning Another Election

Note that the above link goes to the London Independent, already infamous for its 2000 headline, “Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past.”

Business Week ran a similarly apocalyptic headline on their August 13, 1979 cover, “The Death of Equities,” in response to the flat stock market of the 1970s. By the early 1980s, then-Chairman of the Federal Reserve Paul Volcker cut interest rates, and dramatically strangled the out of control inflationary spiral, and President Reagan cut taxes. The result? The moribund stock market took off like a rocket and the go-go ‘80s were born. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was 875 on August 13th, 1979. Yesterday, it closed at 28,015.06.

Shortly after WWII concluded, George Orwell wrote of his fellow British intellectuals:

Power worship blurs political judgement because it leads, almost unavoidably, to the belief that present trends will continue. Whoever is winning at the moment will always seem to be invincible. If the Japanese have conquered south Asia, then they will keep south Asia for ever, if the Germans have captured Tobruk, they will infallibly capture Cairo; if the Russians are in Berlin, it will not be long before they are in London: and so on. This habit of mind leads also to the belief that things will happen more quickly, completely, and catastrophically than they ever do in practice. The rise and fall of empires, the disappearance of cultures and religions, are expected to happen with earthquake suddenness, and processes which have barely started are talked about as though they were already at an end.

In the past, the media could make sweeping “death of equities/death of snow” headlines without fear of being called on their absurdity. No wonder, Richard Fernandez recently noted, “Press Oracles Hope to Resurrect the Cronkite Age, When They Controlled the News.”

NADLER SAYS HOUSE CAN READ TRUMP’S MIND, THEN IMPEACH HIM: It’s an extraordinary claim in the House Judiciary Committee’s just released report on the constitutional grounds for impeachment.

You will find it on page six in the graph beginning “Fourth” where it is stated that: “The question is not whether the President’s conduct could have resulted from permissible motives. It is whether the President’s real reasons, the ones in his mind at the time, were legitimate. Where the House discovers persuasive evidence of corrupt wrongdoing, it is entitled to rely upon that evidence to impeach.”

UPDATE: Question for Nadler — If “the House discovers persuasive evidence of corrupt wrong-doing,” why is it necessary to determine “whether the President’s real reasons, the ones in his mind at the time, were legitimate”?

DETROIT’S COMEBACK IS A MYTH: The economy booms, the construction cranes jam the skylines while the homeless set up camp on the sidewalks and bathe in the public fountains.

So it’s a continuum: Detroit is becoming California, even as California is becoming Detroit.

MARK STEYN: The Men Who Walked Away.

For women’s groups, the Montreal Massacre is an atrocity that taints all men, and for which all men must acknowledge their guilt. Marc Lépine symbolizes the murderous misogyny that lurks within us all.

M Lépine was born Gamil Gharbi, the son of an Algerian Muslim wife-beater, whose brutalized spouse told the court at their divorce hearing that her husband “had a total disdain for women and believed they were intended only to serve men.” At eighteen, young Gamil took his mother’s maiden name. The Gazette in Montreal mentioned this in its immediate reports of the massacre. The name “Gamil Gharbi” has not sullied its pages in the thirteen years since.

Well, feminists are mean and dishonest. And so is the press, but I repeat myself.

Plus: “To return to Gloria Steinem, when might a fish need a bicycle? The women of Montreal’s École Polytechnique could have used one when Marc Lépine walked in with a gun and told all the men to leave the room. They meekly did as ordered. He then shot all the women.”

THE IRISHMAN IS A NETFLIX HIT, EVEN IF FEW MAKE IT TO THE END:

Netflix acquired the rights to “The Irishman,” which stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, after Paramount Pictures passed on the project. The film’s length, subject matter and estimated cost make it a hard sell at the box office. The run time limits the number of showings in a day, thus limiting its overall box-office potential.

Only 18% of viewers made it all the way through “The Irishman” in one sitting. That’s not unusual for a Netflix feature. A similar number finished “Bird Box,” and only 11% completed “El Camino.” Many viewers have discussed plans to watch the movie in parts, and some reporters have joked the picture should be considered a TV series instead.

As I wrote in my review at Ed Driscoll.com after viewing The Irishman on Thanksgiving evening, the pacing of the film’s last hour is deliberate and in sharp contrast to all of the action and political intrigue that preceded it. That contrast is why Scorsese chose to release the Irishman as a single continuous movie, and not as one of his TV series (Boardwalk Empire, Vinyl, etc.) for HBO.

THAT’S NOT BEING A FRAUD, THAT’S BEING INTELLECTUALLY HONEST: Vegan YouTube star is branded a fraud by her furious followers after revealing she followed the CARNIVORE DIET for 30 days – and insisting the meat-based plan was ‘way better’ than veganism. “‘This may sound surprising but my digestion was honestly totally fine,’ she said. ‘In fact, it was way better than when I was vegan.'” She looks better after 30 days of meat, too.
