NO BUSINESS HATES ITS CUSTOMERS LIKE THE NEWSPAPER INDUSTRY: The L.A. Times and the New York Times both agree: all of their white readers are hopeless racists.

Related: David Horowitz’s upcoming book is titled Progressive Racism, in which Horowitz asks, “How did the civil rights movement transform from a cause opposing racism into a movement endorsing racial preferences and privileges for select groups based on their skin color?” Sounds rather timely, based on the sulfurous thoughts emanating from today’s colleges and newspapers.

MEGAN MCARDLE ON TWITTER’S PROBLEMS: “When your user base has stalled despite your best efforts to grow it, and investors are getting restive, it’s probably not the right time to signal to half of the political spectrum that their views are not necessarily welcome on your platform.”

But lefties see it as a personal attack on them if you even let righties speak.

THAT WORD DOESN’T MEAN WHAT THE LEFT THINKS IT MEANS: What Is “Science”?

IT’S A PITY THE TITLE ‘CRY THE BELOVED COUNTRY’ IS USED UP: But this being Liberty Zone’s own Nicki that would be far more colorful and profane, anyway.  And in this case, her ah… colorful language (you have been WARNED.  Don’t like the language, don’t read it) is completely justified. Dear Establishment – I blame you!

ONLY BECAUSE THOSE OXYGEN TANKS ARE HARD TO PULL AND THE MOBILITY SCOOTERS DON’T TAKE WELL TO THE ROUGH STREETS. IN OTHER WORDS, “PROGRESSIVISM” IS AN IDEOLOGY OF OLD PEOPLE AND CHILDREN TOO YOUNG TO KNOW BETTER: Bernie Sanders’ revolution is missing revolutionaries.

THEY SHOULD BE HANGING FROM LAMPPOSTS:

Excerpt:
“Corrupt police and an influential politician fuelled a culture of impunity that allowed three brothers to ‘own’ the town of Rotherham and abuse children until their crimes were exposed by The Times. One officer had sex with under-age girls, passed drugs to the sex-grooming gang and tipped them off when colleagues were searching for missing children, a court was told. Another helped to broker a deal in which one brother returned an abused girl to police after receiving an assurance that he ‘wouldn’t get done’. The jury was told that Jahangir Akhtar, the former deputy leader of Rotherham council, also took part in the handover at a petrol station. Mr Akhtar, the former deputy chairman of South Yorkshire police and crime panel, was a relative of Arshid, Basharat and Bannaras Hussain, who behaved for years ‘like a pack of animals’ to pursue dozens of young girls before demanding sex, often with threats of violence.”

I WAS TALKING ABOUT THIS WITH ED DRISCOLL BACK AT BULLETS & BOURBON: “Twitter helped destroy the conservative ecosystem of small blogs by replacing it with something easier to use and more effective. But in the process, I can’t help but feel we have become prisoners of Twitter.”

Well, people can go back to the old system — as always, I’m happy to promote small blogs — or they can tell Twitter, “We’re not stuck here with you — you’re stuck here with US.”

I will say, though, that I think Twitter is overrated. It’s a good way to chatter with the chattering classes, but (1) it doesn’t drive traffic; (2) its impact outside the chattering classes is basically nil; and (3) it encourages people to think they’re being “activists” when they’re really just tweeting to a few hundred people.

If Twitter wants to stay viable, it has to get people to use it because using it is fun. And nothing says “fun” like “overseen for offensiveness by feminist killjoy Anita Sarkeesian.”

ONLY TRAINED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS SHOULD BE TRUSTED WITH GUNS, GERMAN EDITION: An accidental discharge ruined the Bremerhaven police department’s plan to demonstrate its firearms on Tuesday, as the stray bullet wounded a local journalist in the thigh.

Meanwhile, the head of the police department called an emergency press conference to apologize.

“This kind of thing should not happen”, he said, adding that the weapon ought to have been unloaded when the officer demonstrated it.

All the weapons shown to the journalist have been secured and no ammunition was found in any of them, he went on.

“It’s beyond my understanding why this happened,” he said.

Well, actually, I have a pretty good idea.

21ST CENTURY RELATIONSHIPS: The Oprah Winfrey Network (who knew that was still a thing?) explains, It’s not you, it’s men.

THEY WERE BANKING ON HILLARY, AND COULD’VE LIVED WITH JEB: Trump Win Rattles China.

MILO YIANNOPOULOS: “Male Feminism Is A Sort Of Disease.”

“There seems to be an undercurrent in the modern progressive movement of men who are so desperate to get laid that they say literally anything,” he explained. “Some of those things can involve demonising their own skin colour, sexuality, and gender simply in order to get plaudits from some of the most awful women on campus.”

“It seems this particular progressive male feminism seems to have popped up only within the last couple of years, and you’ll see it sometimes on the pages of Vox and Buzzfeed and Gawker and Mic and terrible places like that, and it seems mainly a result of a failure in journalism,” he continued. “It’s a failure in the way that we as commentators and interpreters of the world are considering our role. Not as imparters of knowledge, or as people who are supposed to be out there and finding the truth, but rather journalism’s become about virtue signalling, and to too many of my colleagues the primary purpose of their job, what they get up to do in the morning, is to advertise their own moral virtue.”

“Instead of telling us about the world as it really is, instead of telling us about what the problems are out there and the various different approaches to them might be, the function of the majority of journalism, particularly I have to say on the left, appears to be to advertise what nice right-thinking people we are and how much we hate sexism and racism and all that kind of thing,” he said.

That sounds about right.

HEALTH: Vaginal Ring With Drug Lowers H.I.V. Rates in African Women. “A flexible and inexpensive ring that is inserted into the vagina, where it slowly releases an antiviral drug, helped protect African women against contracting H.I.V. from their sexual partners, researchers said Monday in reports on two major studies that included more than 4,500 women. The protection was not complete: Overall infection rates were reduced by only 27 percent and 31 percent, though women who were over 21 fared better. But researchers said that the device was still a major advance and that the results were the most promising to date in H.I.V. prevention for African women. They said they would press ahead to get the ring approved and widely distributed as quickly as possible.”

SO WHEN WE WENT TO BULLETS & BOURBON, we stopped the car — containing me, the Insta-Wife, Stephen Green and Roger Simon — at a Whataburger for lunch. We all loved the Whataburger spicy ketchup. Stephen Green got his phone and ordered some sent to his house right away. I took a while to get around to ordering it, but it’s great. It’s seldom I like a non-Heinz ketchup, but this is great.

WELL, THIS SEEMS LIKE A BIG DEAL: Mark Hosenball: Spy agencies say Clinton emails closely matched top secret documents.

U.S. spy agencies have told Congress that Hillary Clinton’s home computer server contained some emails that should have been treated as “top secret” because their wording matched sections of some of the government’s most highly classified documents, four sources familiar with the agency reports said.

The two reports are the first formal declarations by U.S. spy agencies detailing how they believe Clinton violated government rules when highly classified information in at least 22 email messages passed through her unsecured home server.
