WHY ARE “PROGRESSIVE” INSTITUTIONS SUCH HOTBEDS OF SEXUAL PREDATION? Progressive PR Firm Closes Down Over Sexual Harassment And Assault Allegations; The group represented some of the biggest progressive organizations.
FitzGibbon Media, a prominent progressive public relations firm, abruptly shut down on Thursday amid allegations of sexual harassment and assault by the company’s president.
Trevor FitzGibbon and his team worked with some of the biggest progressive organizations, including NARAL, MoveOn, the Center for American Progress and the AFL-CIO, as well as Wikileaks, Chelsea Manning and The Intercept. The company sponsored an event with The Huffington Post earlier this year.
Multiple female employees came forward with accusations of sexual harassment and assault against FitzGibbon, according to employees who spoke with The Huffington Post.
Maybe the reason so many lefties think that “rape culture” is a thing is because, in their world, it actually is. . . .
I wonder if anyone will call these organizations and ask them if they knew there was a problem with their PR agency before today.

HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE, COVERUP EDITION: “In August and October, the department denied Freedom of Information Act requests by Bloomberg News seeking parent default and deferment numbers by college, saying it ‘has yet to complete its analysis’ by institution. The agency provides default data annually, broken out by school, for most student borrowers. Those rates help determine which schools can continue to access the loan program.”

ASHE SCHOW: Women’s group complains about not enough women writing about rape, ignores women writing about rape.
For further evidence that outrage feminists believe gender trumps all else, a new report from the Women’s Media Center bemoans the fact that more articles about campus sexual assault in major newspapers were written by men than by women.
Forget the content of those articles — women should write about rape, and men should write about whatever the modern feminists tell them they can write about.
WMC limited their search of gender bylines to “top-circulation” U.S. newspapers and wire services. One wonders what the byline breakdown would be had they included other media outlets. The list did not include Slate (which discounts Emily Yoffe, who often writes on the topic), the Daily Beast (which discounts Cathy Young and Lizzie Crocker), Salon (which discounts Amanda Marcotte), Cosmopolitan (which discounts Jill Filipovic and several other women), Reason (which discounted Elizabeth Nolan Brown and Linda M. LeFauve), nor did it include the Washington Examiner, which discounts me.
Why do women’s groups hate women?
PROFESSORS AND STUDENTS AT U. SAN DIEGO PROTEST TRUMP BY WEARING “MUSLIM YELLOW STARS:”
The irony, of course, is that the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem was a big supporter and fan of Hitler, and the Muslim world is a hotbed of anti-Semitic propaganda and agitation. Jews routinely are demonized for being Jews, and the ancient Jewish communities in Muslim areas were expelled after the creation of Israel.
In Europe, Jews cannot walk the streets in many places while displaying any Jewish symbol or even traditional Jewish attire for fear of harassment by young Muslims.
Shades of the Middle East itself, where conspiracy theories alternate between “Hitler didn’t go far enough,” and “there was no Holocaust,” sometimes in the same sentence.

But does the Secretary of Defense imagine that what happens in war is less violent than being run over by offensive tackle Sebastian Vollmer (6’8”, 320 lbs)?”
OBAMA SAYS HE DOESN’T WATCH ENOUGH TV, AND THE NEW YORK TIMES TACITLY ADMITS IT CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THE MEMORY HOLE. I’m not sure which is more damning, the following passage…
In his meeting with the columnists, Mr. Obama indicated that he did not see enough cable television to fully appreciate the anxiety after the attacks in Paris and San Bernardino, and made clear that he plans to step up his public arguments. Republicans were telling Americans that he is not doing anything when he is doing a lot, he said.
…Or the fact that at least at the moment, it’s since been expunged from the Times’ article, even though it was quoted last night by blogger Tom Maguire, the Washington Post’s Erik Wemple, the Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto, and CNN’s Brian Stelter. And it was in the Google cache as of last night as well:
Perhaps seeing Obama’s latest Kinsley-esque gaffe in print caused the administration — or worse, the Times, without being prompted — to have a painful flashback to Obama’s callous choice of words that America could “absorb” another terrorist attack, as quoted by Bob Woodward in 2010.
This isn’t the first time that the Gray Lady has airbrushed a damning moment for the administration out of its columns. In 2013, Daniel Halper of the Weekly Standard wrote:
Daniel P. Schrag, a White House climate adviser and director of the Harvard University Center for the Environment, tells the New York Times “a war on coal is exactly what’s needed.” Later today, President Obama will give a major “climate change” address at Georgetown University.
“Everybody is waiting for action,” Schrag tells the paper. “The one thing the president really needs to do now is to begin the process of shutting down the conventional coal plants. Politically, the White House is hesitant to say they’re having a war on coal. On the other hand, a war on coal is exactly what’s needed.”
Soon after Halper’s article was Drudge-lanched, the Times airbrushed Schrag’s quote out, despite its being referenced by at least one commenter underneath the Times’ article.
As for Obama not watching enough TV — for better or worse, throughout his tenure in office, our semi-retired president certainly appears to be a voracious consumer of at least the entertainment portion of the medium. And as Taranto notes, just imagine George Bush saying something along the lines of not watching enough cable television to fully appreciate the public’s anxiety after two near concurrent major terrorist attacks during his administration.
On the other hand, it was nice of Obama to live out the lede of Glenn’s latest USA Today article: “Democrats are supposed to be the party of compassion, but lately a lot of Americans are feeling as if the Obama administration doesn’t much care about them. The reason is terrorism and the way Obama and Hillary Clinton have responded to it.”

WHEN DO YOU HEAR AN IVY LEAGUE STORY THAT ISN’T AN EMBARRASSMENT THESE DAYS? Sadness, shame and blame at Yale over First Amendment repeal video.
Members of the Yale University community on Thursday responded with a mix of embarrassment, sadness and literal disbelief to a viral video showing students there freely signing a petition that calls for the repeal of the First Amendment.
“It numbs the mind that dozens of Yale students could sign a petition to revoke the First Amendment,” freshman Grant Richardson wrote FoxNews.com in an email. “Besides the fact that the First Amendment lists the most fundamentally important rights we hold as Americans, it is rather embarrassing to think Yalies could not see the irony that they were petitioning away – their right to petition.”
Richardson, responding to a video by filmmaker and satirist Ami Horowitz that first aired on FoxNews.com Wednesday, said he hopes the actions of those shown in the video don’t reflect on him or many other students.
“It is mortifying to think that family, friends and future employers could equate such behaviors to Yale, and by extension, to me,” he said. “I can only hope that my fellow students were answering in jest.”
A member of the Yale Law School faculty also responded to the video, and wasn’t happy with what he saw.
“It’s a sad commentary on the present state of public opinion,” said Professor Bruce Ackerman. . . .
But Ackerman said he also felt the First Amendment debate wasn’t as important as more pressing issues.
“It does not remotely pose the same danger as the support of all Republican candidates, with the exception of Rand Paul, for President Obama’s unilateral war against ISIS in plain violation of the Constitution,” Ackerman said.
That part of the professor’s response didn’t sit well with Horowitz.
“This is exactly part of the problem. Why would Yale students, or university students anywhere in this country, feel a fidelity to our fundamental beliefs, when their professors try to shoehorn in anti-American sentiment at every opportunity?” he told FoxNews.com.
Yale Law School was a center of hardcore support for free expression once. But that was when leftists were the ones speaking. Now that leftists are the ones doing the persecuting, Yale Law isn’t nearly as strong.
