CHANGE: Poland builds Europe’s largest land force to counter Russian threat.

To start with, it has placed orders for 1,000 K2 main battle tanks from South Korea, and 250 brand new M1A2 SEPv3 Abram tanks from the US. This will turn Poland into the owner of Europe’s biggest tank force, dwarfing the UK’s fleet of 227.

Its artillery will be bolstered by the arrival of 600 K9s, 18 HIMARS launchers with 9,000 rockets, and 288 K239 Chunmoo MRL systems from South Korea.

Over 1,000 Polish-made Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles will carry Polish troops into battle, while air cover will come from 96 AH-64E Apache helicopters bought from the US, and 48 FA-50 combat aircraft now on order from South Korea.

“We are changing our equipment very, very quickly,” said Captain Adamiak. “It really is revolution, not evolution.”

All of this will be underscored by plans to double the size of the Polish Army to 300,000, which would turn Poland into Europe’s biggest military power, in terms of manpower, west of Ukraine.

Interesting the role South Korea is playing in up-arming Poland.

CHANGE? Will This Be the Last Year for Daylight Saving Time? “It would be so much easier if DST were permanent. Why it isn’t is basically a matter of time — literally. Making DST permanent is a popular issue for Congress to address and rid us of this inconvenient and unhealthy change of clocks. But Congress has failed us.”

While we’re at it, move the start of school back at least one hour — preferably 90 minutes. It starts too early already, which is bad for kids who do better sleeping later and longer.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Some Walls Might Be Closing in on the Biden Crime Family. “There is no bombshell news, but it looks like some progress has been made in exposing the depths of the Biden business depravity, especially when it comes to the commies in the country with which we will soon be fighting a war.”

THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO SHOW UP: Japan faces population crisis as twice as many deaths recorded as births in 2022.

“If we go on like this, the country will disappear,” former Minister of Justice Masako Mori said, acknowledging the record-low birthrate last year.

“It’s the people who have to live through the process of disappearance who will face enormous harm. It’s a terrible disease that will afflict those children.”

As a result, Kishida has made a commitment to increase spending on children and family, in an effort to stifle the population decline. The report noted that the Japanese population has fallen to 124.6 million from a peak of just over 128 million in 2008, and the rate of decline is only increasing.

Though South Korea has a lower fertility rate, Japan’s population is getting smaller at a faster rate. It was reported that 29 percent of Japan’s population is 65 years of age and older.

“It’s not falling gradually, it’s heading straight down,” said Mori, who currently advises Kishida on LGBTQ issues and the birthrate issue.

“A nosedive means children being born now will be thrown into a society that becomes distorted, shrinks and loses its ability to function.”

Maybe the worst indicator is that even the number of women of childbearing age is in decline. No matter what steps Japan takes, the problem will get worse before it gets better — if ever.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB! The growing ranks of Black gun owners.

In 2016, Toure founded Black Guns Matter, a Philadelphia-based gun rights advocacy and education group focused on African Americans that offers free classes on everything from conflict resolution to yoga. People fly him around the country to speak. But teaching members of the Black community here in Philly how to use firearms to defend their life and liberty is his calling.

“There’s not a question that more Black people would be alive today if they had guns,” Toure told me.

Toure and his students are a part of the fastest growing — and most often ignored — segment of gun owners in the United States: Black Americans.

Between 2014 and 2021, the percentage of African American adults who own registered firearms nearly doubled — from 14% to 24%. And, according to industry figures, gun purchases by Black Americans spiked nearly 60% from the first half of 2019 to the same period in 2020.

Don’t forget that range time.

VICTORIA TAFT: West Coast, Messed Coast™: The Left’s Unconstitutional Assault on Guns. “Illegal aliens, drug-addicted-tent-dwellers, abortion seekers, and underaged children who are secretly brought to their states for trans surgeries and puberty blockers, all have the protection of government… unlike legal gun owners.”

DECOUPLING: China’s Cutting-Edge Chip Dreams Just Died.

The Dutch government has confirmed that it will stop the most advanced semiconductor manufacturing machines making their way to China and other countries viewed as an active threat.

As Politico reports(Opens in a new window), an agreement was reached between the US and Netherlands back in January to impose technology export restrictions, but it has taken until now for Dutch officials to work out the details. Yesterday, a letter was published(Opens in a new window) by Dutch Foreign Trade Minister Liesje Schreinemacher confirming export licenses will be required for certain categories of Dutch technology.

Although China isn’t mentioned specifically, the focus of the export controls is clearly on chip manufacturing, with Schreinemacher stating in the letter: “Given the technological developments and geopolitical context, the government has concluded that it is necessary for the (inter)national security to expand the existing export controls on specific manufacturing equipment for semiconductors.”

This will come as another serious blow for China’s semiconductor industry because the Netherlands is home to ASML, which dominates the market for producing the most advanced deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography systems. Without access to such technology, China can’t produce sub-10nm chips unless it finds an alternative manufacturing solution or partner. That’s unlikely in the short term considering the US and Japan are also restricting exports to the country.

But: “Chinese firms are currently filling warehouse with chip components and equipment.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Tucker Carlson’s J6 Video Gain Is the Dem Media’s Pain. “One of the things I’ve always enjoyed about Carlson is that he seems to have more fun than other cable hosts, most of whom look as if they could use double doses of Metamucil.”

WORKHORSE OR LUXURY VEHICLE? Truckpocalypse Now. “Assuming I was insane enough to buy a new Ford F-150 at the average selling price, and no down payment, I would be looking at $1,521 in monthly payments, or more than I was paying for my home mortgage until a few years ago.”
