Exit Question: Where does Maya Consulting get its money?
SKYNET CAN’T EVEN GET REPRESENTATION: AI making up cases can get lawyers fired, scandalized law firm warns.
In a letter shared in a court filing, Morgan & Morgan’s chief transformation officer, Yath Ithayakumar, warned the firms’ more than 1,000 attorneys that citing fake AI-generated cases in court filings could be cause for disciplinary action, including “termination.”
“This is a serious issue,” Ithayakumar wrote. “The integrity of your legal work and reputation depend on it.”
Morgan & Morgan’s AI troubles were sparked in a lawsuit claiming that Walmart was involved in designing a supposedly defective hoverboard toy that allegedly caused a family’s house fire. Despite being an experienced litigator, Rudwin Ayala, the firm’s lead attorney on the case, cited eight cases in a court filing that Walmart’s lawyers could not find anywhere except on ChatGPT.
These “cited cases seemingly do not exist anywhere other than in the world of Artificial Intelligence,” Walmart’s lawyers said, urging the court to consider sanctions.
So far, the court has not ruled on possible sanctions. But Ayala was immediately dropped from the case and was replaced by his direct supervisor, T. Michael Morgan, Esq. Expressing “great embarrassment” over Ayala’s fake citations that wasted the court’s time, Morgan struck a deal with Walmart’s attorneys to pay all fees and expenses associated with replying to the errant court filing, which Morgan told the court should serve as a “cautionary tale” for both his firm and “all firms.”
I love AI, particularly for organization. But AI “hallucinations” are real and don’t seem to be getting any better.
KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Media Hacks’ Trump ‘Gotcha!’ Questions Aren’t Getting Anyone. “he poor, pathetic dears are struggling mightily these days. After finishing out the Biden years being forced to cover their sycophantic rear ends for not noticing — their version of the story — that the President of the United States was a drooling vegetable, they’re now forced to contend with something they’ve never had to before: Republicans who won’t roll over and play dead for them.”

SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KlLLED.
Also this month, “protestors” put stickers on the windows of another Tesla showroom in New York saying “KlLL ELON MUSK.”
THIS NEEDS TO STOP. Authorities need to make a VERY clear example out of these criminals.
Remember: Your speech is violence but the Left’s violence is just speech.
FASTER, PLEASE: Trump Praises $4.5 Trillion Tax Cut In House Budget, Wants Senate R’s To Get With The Program.
Adopting the budget is the first step in a special process Republicans intend to use to bypass minority senate Democrats on tax and spending legislation. A budget plan would allow Republicans to overcome procedural obstacles in the Senate with a simple majority rathe than the 60 votes it would otherwise take.
The House has drafted a plan to allow $4.5 trillion in tax cuts in exchange for $2 trillion in spending cuts and a $4 trillion increase in the debt ceiling. The House plan would direct $300 billion to military and border spending but the larger bill is expected to take months to hash out.
Tax relief would help make tariffs easier for consumers.

It almost seems unfair to pick on a social media influencer like AOC, but she’s fair game for as long as she chooses to cosplay as a congresswoman.

SPOILER: THEY WON’T. Liberals, Enough With the Incessant Chants and Caterwauling!
IGNORE THE HYPE: Kurt Volker’s guide to US-Russia Ukraine peace talks in Saudi Arabia.
The Kyiv Independent: There has been a lot of panic in Ukraine and Europe about the possibility of the U.S. and Russia negotiating a peace agreement over their heads — is this justified?
Ambassador Kurt Volker: People were upset about (being excluded from the table) and I have to keep telling people there isn’t a table.
There is (U.S.) President Trump picking up the phone, calling Putin, calling Zelensky, people having meetings at NATO, people having meetings in Munich. It’s going to be like that. It’s going to be a lot of consultation, a lot of conversations, but there’s no single negotiation going on.
In fact, we don’t even know if it’s going to be possible with Russia.
I think there are several things going on and a lot of it is being misread, but there are some things to be watching as well. First off, as we knew, President Trump was going to reach out to Putin in order to try to urge him to end the war, and he’s followed that up now by sending a team to meet with the Russians in Saudi Arabia.
I think there was a lot of media excitement over different comments that different people said in the past week, and I think some of them were maybe just not careful enough and the media ran with it.
For example, when (U.S. Defense Secretary) Pete Hegseth at the NATO meeting said that it’s not realistic for Ukraine to take its territory back (to the 2014 borders), that’s not that different from what President Zelensky was saying in January about not being able to take the territory back militarily, but having to pursue that by other means, provided there were security guarantees for the rest of Ukraine. That’s not that different.
Similarly with NATO, (Trump) said it’s not realistic to think that NATO membership would be a result of these negotiations, which I think is absolutely right, because Russia would not agree to that, and we shouldn’t even be talking to Russia about that. That’s none of their business.
I think those comments were blown out of proportion a bit.
“A bit” was Volker’s way of being …diplomatic… about the hype.
I COULD HANDLE MORE WINNING: In Dealing With China, Trump May Have a Trick Up His Sleeve.
Unlike the late Soviet Union – sometimes referred to as “Haiti with missiles” – China is an economic powerhouse, one that puts is technological prowess in the service of its geostrategic aspirations. ”China has roughly nine times as many engineers as the U.S. and perhaps as many as 15 times as many science and technology graduates,” George Gilder recently noted in the Wall Street Journal. This gives China a decisive edge in a world where rapid advances in technology have far-reaching economic and military implications.
There are, however, things that Trump and his team can do, and in some cases are already doing, that can turn the tables on Beijing. With the departure of the geopolitically inept Biden administration, Washington can now harness its considerable geological assets to the disadvantage of its rival in the Far East.
Beijing was quick to realize the importance of gaining control of both the mining and processing of rare earths and other critical minerals, which it had largely done by the time the U.S. and other industrialized countries embarked on their climate-driven green energy transition. Beijing was not so foolish; to meet its own energy needs, it built hundreds of coal-fired power plants. Abandoning fossil fuels, which the United States has in abundance, and embracing green energy, the supply chain for which is largely controlled by China, could benefit only one country. And for a while, China’s bet looked to be paying off.
But China’s dominance of such sectors as electric vehicles, batteries that power EVs and serve to backup intermittent wind and solar energy, and the raw materials in wind turbines and solar panels makes the Middle Kingdom vulnerable to Trump’s renewed embrace of “American energy dominance.”
It’s refreshing having a president who plays to America’s strengths rather than forcing us to play to China’s.
CIVIL RIGHTS UPDATE: Court Strikes Down Illegal Firearms Mandate in Pima County, AZ.
In a victory for Arizona firearm owners, a state court judge today struck down an illegal law in Pima County that required residents to report lost and stolen firearms to the government within two days…or face $1,000 fines.
Goldwater had sued the county to stop the mandate on behalf of Air Force veteran Chris King and the Pima County-based Arizona Citizens Defense League. As Goldwater attorneys argued before the Pima County Superior Court today, state law prohibits local governments from regulating firearms or firearm-related conduct unless specifically authorized by the state legislature, and the county Board of Supervisors appeared to know as much when it brazenly passed the ordinance.
Via Stephen Kruiser, who adds, “The commies who run my county (Pima) are going to keep finding out that messing with gun owners doesn’t work in here the Grand Canyon State.”
HE CERTAINLY TURNED HEADS AT THE VERY LEAST: Did JD Turn the Tide on Free Speech?
ANALYSIS: TRUE.
the reason they keep hammering on this offensively stupid position — that trump, in a few weeks of governance, has somehow caused these plane crashes — is they literally have nothing else. the democrats have never been this lost in any of our lives. https://t.co/7E174vDR2r

Democrats can’t stay this desperate and dumb forever, but right now it certainly does feel that way.
KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Trump’s Labor Secretary Pick Is a Commie Fox in the MAGA Henhouse. “Apologists say that Chavez-DeRemer’s nomination is forgivable because Teamsters head Sean O’Brien ‘helped’ Trump during the campaign last year. Did the Teamsters endorse Trump? No, they merely didn’t endorse Joe Biden. That was only because internal Teamsters polling showed huge support for Trump. That means that O’Brien’s ‘help’ in declining to endorse Biden was almost negligible. A lot of Teamsters were already going to vote for him.”
