THEY GET IT. THEY JUST DON’T WANT YOU TO: Facebook’s New Privacy Pop-Up Shows the Company Just Doesn’t Get It.

The company is now testing a pop-up that will appear before Apple’s request to track notification appears. The pop-up asks users to “Allow Facebook to use your app and website activity?” It then explains the two benefits of doing so:

• Get ads that are more personalized

• Support businesses that rely on ads to reach customers.

There’s a problem, however. Nowhere does Facebook’s pop-up use the word tracking. That might seem like a small criticism, but it’s actually a big deal. I’m sure that is entirely intentional on Facebook’s part–it most definitely doesn’t want its users thinking about the fact that it tracks them. Still, it’s a big mistake, and it shows Facebook just doesn’t get it.

Look, companies always try to spin things to best reflect the narrative they want to tell. The problem is that no one believes Facebook’s narrative except Facebook. As a result, people simply don’t trust Facebook, and this approach reinforces all of the reasons why.

I actually have some advice–not that anyone at Facebook will be interested in what I think. If you’re going to build a business model on tracking people’s activity and then monetizing it, own it.

If Facebook were honest, they’d make less money — a lot less.

So they won’t be honest.

It’s that simple.

JOANNE JACOBS: Academic high school is too elite (and Asian) for SF.

After denaming 44 schools — including Abraham Lincoln High — for historical imperfections, San Francisco school board is fast-tracking a plan to end merit-based admissions for Lowell High School, one of the top high schools in California, reports David Li for NBC News.

The board is on track to approve a resolution to admit students to Lowell (which will be renamed) by lottery, rather than grades and test scores. Selectivity “perpetuates the culture of white supremacy and racial abuse towards Black and Latinx students,” states the resolution.

The real issue is Chinese supremacy. Of Lowell’s 2,871 students, 50.6 percent are Asian, mostly Chinese, in a district that’s 33.4 percent Asian, reports Li.

They’ll destroy Lowell because that’s what leftists do.

SCHLICHTER: Trump Moves Out of the White House and into Their Heads.

Left to their own devices, the Establishment fails. Left to their own devices, the spotlight falls on them, and when that happens people see.

The truth is that they want Trump. They need Trump. They cannot let him go. Trump truly is the greatest real estate magnate ever, since he owns all the space inside the Establishment’s bloated heads.

You can see it as they insist on going forward with their Lucy n’ the football impeachment, which will end in failure and Trump’s exoneration. Forty-five Republicans have already pointed out the obvious – you can’t impeach someone who is not in office.

Plus, the impeachment itself is a substantive joke. As the president’s brief points out, more politely, it was written by bad lawyers like my loser congressjerk Ted Lieu and Eric Swalwell, who should stick to flatulence, being scammed by Chi Com doxies, and other tasks that he is actually good at.

Heh™ and Read the Whole Thing™.

I’d be much more likely to believe that Biden beat Trump in a popular vote landslide if he or anyone in his administration or one single Democrat on Capitol Hill behaved as though Biden had beat Trump in a popular vote landslide.

VODKAPUNDIT PRESENTS YOUR DAILY INSANITY WRAP: CNN Goes Full George Costanza to Protect AOC from Her Own Lies.

Insanity Wrap needs to know: Is it really not a lie if you believe it?

Answer: Sorry, no — but nobody tell that to Don Lemon or Chris Cuomo; they’d never believe it.

Before we get to the sordid details, a quick preview of today’s Wrap.

  • New York Dems stonewall nursing home deaths investigation
  • Carjackings up 283% in Chicago — unexpectedly!

Bonus Sanity: Donald Trump might just be allowed to live in the building he owns.

And so much more at the link, you’d have to be crazy to miss it.

‘URBAN CAMPING’ MIGHT BE THE STUPIDEST EUPHEMISM CURRENTLY IN VOGUE: Reinstatement of Austin Camping Ban Makes May 1 Ballot. “An Austin City Council who respected common sense and the will of citizens would go ahead and repeal the camping ban, so that will never happen. Instead expect a vicious campaign from Mayor Steve Adler, Austin City Councilman Greg Casar and the other advocates of the Homeless Industrial Complex to smear those backing reinstatement of the ban as ‘white supremacists’ (the reflexive go-to smear for the the hard left in 2021) and wanting homeless people to die.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Reality Check—AOC Is Still the Biggest Lunatic in Congress. “While the House has been moving to brand MTG as Public Enemy Number One, its squeaky pathological liar has been barfing drama queen all over the place, telling tales about a member of the United States Senate trying to have her murdered.”

I LIKE THE CUT OF HIS JIB: North Carolina’s lt. governor shows how to fight back against a corrupt media. “In 2018, Mark Robinson stood up before the city council in Greensboro, North Carolina and gave an impassioned defense of the Second Amendment. That video went viral and led to him entering politics. Last year, Robinson became North Carolina’s Republican lieutenant governor. This year, when a local paper published a cartoon calling the entire North Carolina Republican party a KKK entity, Robinson (who is black) ferociously attacked the newspaper for its dishonesty and ignorance. He needs to give master classes in handling the media.”

Impressive video at the link.
