JOANNE JACOBS: Teens choose jobs over high school, college. “I fear dropout rates will go way up, unless high schools, community colleges and employers can offer job-centric pathways to disconnected, disaffected young people.”

UPDATE (FROM GLENN): It would probably also help if they didn’t tell male students that they’re rapists and oppressors. Just spitballing here.

PETER SCHIFF: The Transitory Inflation Ruse. “It is certainly possible that we can finish 2021 with 10% CPI, which would rank it as bad as any of the years that we had during the 1970s. Except 10% in 2021 is not 10% in 1971 or 1979 because this is not your grandfather’s CPI. This is a completely different CPI that is completely rigged and reverse engineered. If we actually have 10% inflation, if we measured prices the way we did back in the 1970s, it’d probably be 15 or maybe 20% inflation.”

IT’S THEIR WAY: Bidenflation is real, and Democrats will make it worse. “Despite their zero-margin control of the Senate, Democrats are governing as though voters had given them a massive majority that justified dispensing with negotiation and bipartisanship. In an inflationary economy, they want to borrow and spend even more money for ideological goals that are irrelevant at best and damaging at worst to the vigorous economic recovery that Biden inherited upon taking office.”

LOCKDOWN FALLOUT: Apple employees threaten to quit as company takes hard line stance on remote work. “Apple will apparently make exceptions for people with documented medical conditions, but acquiring that accommodation reportedly requires employees to confirm their status by releasing medical records to the company. The demand made some people uncomfortable, the report said.”

THIS IS THE CORRECT WAY TO DEAL WITH GROWN-UP TEMPER TANTRUMS: Major Texas Democrat Stripped of Leadership Post for Fleeing the State. “Calls to strip Democrats who fled Texas from their House leadership posts have been growing throughout the week. Texas Republican Party Chairman Matt Rinaldi clarified that yes, leaders appointed to their posts by Speaker Dade Phelan can be stripped of their leadership assignments. Moody is the first Democrat known to be subjected to it. Speaker Phelan did not start small with this move.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Britney Spears Is the Only Thing Americans Can Agree On. “This could be a turning point at this dark time in American history. Who better to bring about the healing than a former member of The Mickey Mouse Club? This is the kind of scenario the Founding Fathers envisioned when they created a country where we were free to worship a God who would eventually give us Walt Disney.”

BRYAN PRESTON: A ‘Spiritual Catastrophe’ Is Exactly What the Left Wants. “Nikole Hannah-Jones rode a momentary epiphany all the way to fame and fortune and now lifetime employment, where she will teach young people to do…what, exactly? She will be a professor of journalism. It didn’t matter that her key journalism project was fundamentally wrong and it doesn’t matter now.”

CALIFORNICATION: The Challenge of Economic Recovery Continues to Grow under New Regulatory Burdens and More than $2.1 Billion in New Taxes and Fees. “New net direct costs, which will exceed $2.1 billion in 2023, comprise only part of the financial burden facing Coloradans and Colorado businesses—they do not include the indirect costs of numerous new laws and regulations. While the impact of each new regulation has not been fully valued yet, efforts to comply with them will cost many individuals and businesses billions of dollars in total, likely even more than the $2.1 billion in direct costs. Though any single new regulation may not change the outcome of a firm’s decision to expand in Colorado or to relocate to our state, at some point the cumulative regulatory burden could.”

GET WOKE, GO BROKE: MLB All-Star Game bombs in ratings again. Here’s why. “For the Ohtani factor alone, the numbers should have landed at least above the 10 million-viewer threshold, but didn’t. And if you’re looking for a big reason outside of cord-cutting, look no further than the backlash baseball is receiving for moving the All-Star Game out of Georgia to Colorado due to the former’s new voting laws.”
