#RESIST: Backlash in states starts over Biden court-packing scheme. “While some other states have passed simple resolutions on the issue, their plan, dubbed “Wisconsin Keep 9 Resolution,” calls for a constitutional convention to debate an amendment that would require nine [justices].”

CRISIS BY DESIGN: Biden’s border ‘as bad as it’s been in memory.’ “The Border Patrol reported the most action in 21 years in June. Agents recorded 178,416 arrests, defying Homeland Security officials’ public predictions that activity at the border would cool off in the summer.”

CAM EDWARDS: Will NY Dems Say Anything About Rochester Mayor’s Bust On Gun Charges? “Not only are we talking about a gun control champion getting busted for illegally possessing a firearm, but Warren’s arrest highlights the fact that under New York law, mere possession of an unlicensed handgun is supposed to result in prison time upon conviction. While establishment New York Democrats like Andrew Cuomo, Attorney General Letitia James, and NYC Democratic mayoral candidate Eric Adams are all now talking about the need to get tough on criminals, far-Left activists in the state are still demanding a ‘reimagining’ of the criminal justice system itself. Warren’s charges highlight the split on among Democrats, and thanks to her relatively high profile in state politics, it makes it tough for New York pols to ignore her arrest.”

Tough, but clearly not impossible.

TO PUT IT MILDLY: The FBI Has Some Serious Corruption Problems. “Here is the fun part. According to the same report, the DOJ does not have the authority to compel or subpoena testimony from former department employees, including those who retire or resign during the course of the investigation.”

HMM: To Free Cuba, Make Guantanamo the New Ellis Island.

The drowning risk for incoming Cuban refugees could be entirely eliminated by inviting the Cubans seeking freedom and democracy to make their way by land to Guantanamo. At the navy base, their applications could be processed, they could be vaccinated against Covid-19, and they could eventually be transported safely to America by airplane or in seaworthy vessels.

The images of this exodus would help advance what Mr. Biden professes to be a core foreign policy objective. In his July 15 “Washington Declaration” with Chancellor Merkel, Mr. Biden said, “We must act now to demonstrate that democracy delivers for our people at home and that democratic leadership delivers for the world.”

Forget Biden’s words and watch his actions instead — and his actions show he’s no friend of liberty in Cuba or here.

IT’S WORSE THAN YOU KNOW: One Day Soon, You’ll Wake Up to Find Your Favorite Website Has Vanished. “It’s not just Facebook that conservatives need to worry about. Wrongthinkers, including Trump, have been booted off Twitter and YouTube as well—and that’s just a part of the multi-pronged effort to remove conservative media from the Internet. In addition, left-wing globalists are kicking conservatives off email services like Mailchimp, refusing to allow our side to use cybersecurity services to protect against hackers, denying sites hosting services, and reducing our ability to monetize our sites.”

I’M JEALOUS: Forget the Bezos and Branson Spaceflights. The Real Deal Happens This Fall. “The storm of press has thus far largely overlooked a much bigger space deal coming in September, when yet another billionaire—Jared Isaacman, the CEO of Shift4 Payments, an online payments company—goes aloft with three other civilian astronauts aboard a SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft in a mission dubbed Inspiration4. Never mind 10 suborbital minutes, this will be a three-day trip to orbital space at an altitude higher than that of the International Space Station (ISS).”

DOMINIC GREEN: Joe Biden’s digital serfs.

If Donald Trump had said he’d use extra-legal leverage over Big Tech, most of the media would be crying ‘fascism’. Brian Stelter would decry an unprecedented assault on the First Amendment. Jeffrey Toobin would bang one out about bypassing Congress and the law. Minor academics would op-ed in the New York Times about the classically fascist ‘collusion’ between government and big business. Some of the more literate ones might even reach for that line attributed to Mussolini: ‘Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism, because it is a merger of state and corporate power’.

Fortunately for us all, it’s a Democratic administration that’s launching this repressive end-run around the law. This is progress, so the castor oil is for your own good. Really, what we’re seeing isn’t progress at all. It’s merely change, and it reflects the decay of the American agora as surely as a Visigoth riding into the forum at Rome. We all know it, and we all know that the price for saying it is rising.

BRIAN DUNN: Woke Lips Sink Ships. “Victory in the Cold War was sudden. And in the aftermath, the Navy surface warfare elements forgot that their core task is to control the seas and not merely exploit control of the seas.”
