FOR THE CHILDREN™: Loudoun County Officials Likely Lied About Knowledge of Sexual Assault in Restroom. “While board member Harris Mahedavi claimed he didn’t learn about the incident until the public comment period, he replied to the May 28th email asking for an update. It would seem highly unlikely that the ‘missed’ an email on the matter only to have it readily available a month later to respond to. Something really doesn’t add up there. Further, Mahedavi was allegedly told about the incident in person by Scott Pio, who is running to be a state delegate in Virginia.”

GOODER AND HARDER: The Cost of Communism: ‘Comrade de Blasio’ Has Gutted the Big Apple. “When de Blasio took over as mayor of NYC, it was like inheriting the 2009 championship Yankees. Eight years later, he is leaving the city looking more like the Detroit Tigers.”

Detroit is always the endgame of wokeness.

KUDLOW: The Secret Democrats Refuse To Acknowledge: America’s Emissions Are Dropping Faster Than Paris Targets.

Fracking. American free enterprise, private sector ingenuity, and technology adapted an old process and retooled it to generate a revolution in horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. There was no government plan. It came out of private enterprise. Natural gas, of course, is a clean burning fuel, which has partly replaced both oil and coal.

In the last 20 years, natural gas use in America has more than doubled. That’s because It’s cheap, clean, and accessible through the new technology. The demand for liquefied natural gas is growing exponentially all around the world.

That is, American LNG. It’s a fabulous export — that is, if the Biden’s would just leave it alone. And acknowledge how much good the natural gas fracking revolution has done for typical families all around the globe. They won’t acknowledge that, though, because they are fact-free ideologues.

HMM: Zillow seeks to sell 7,000 homes for $2.8 billion after flipping halt.

The company is seeking roughly $2.8 billion for the houses, which are being pitched to institutional investors, according to people familiar with the matter.

Zillow is likely to sell the houses to a multitude of buyers rather than packaging them in a single transaction, said the people, who asked not to be named because the matter is private.

The move to offload a block of homes comes as Zillow seeks to recover from an operational stumble that saw it buy too many houses, with many now being listed for less than it paid. The company typically offers smaller numbers of homes to single-family landlords, but the current sales effort is much larger than normal.

But: Dallas-based rental home giant Invitation Homes raised prices 11% during the quarter.

Looks like we still have some ways to go before this bubble pops.

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Biden and the Democrats Have Failed America. “As even friendly media outlets marvel at disastrous polls, let’s analyze the chaos, division, and ruination the 46th president and his cackling vice president have wrought.”

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: We Followed the Science and Got Punished By Twitter. “As I write this, our addled alleged president is attending the U.N. Climate Conference, where he and other world leaders are letting computer models which are more often than not wrong be the determinative factors for dictating the policy of a New World Order. These people don’t believe in science any more than I believe I’m going to spend the rest of my days as a billionaire on an island with a bunch of NFL cheerleaders.”

A man can dream, can’t he?

THE NEW SPACE RACE (PRIVATE SECTOR EDITION): Amazon is gearing up to take on Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet.

On Monday, Amazon filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission for an experimental license to launch the first two prototype satellites for “Project Kuiper,” its planned answer to Starlink.

Amazon’s designs for Kuiper (named after astronomer Gerard Kuiper) involve a full 3,236 small satellites in low Earth orbit to beam broadband to underserved customers. But this giant leap will have to start with two small steps, in the form of the test launches it expects to conduct in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The company has signed up a new rocket builder for these prototype missions. And it’s not Blue Origin.

I’d love to see more competition in space, but as that last line reveals yet again, Bezos so far is more about vaporware and publicity trips.

VIRGINIA: McAuliffe Flip Flops, Says Election ‘Isn’t About Trump.’

Something has changed, and McAuliffe no longer wants the 45th president to be the issue of the campaign, telling the press at an event over the weekend that the election is “not about Trump.”

“Terry McAuliffe is backpedaling so hard he could win the Tour de France in reverse,” Youngkin campaign spokesman Matt Wolking said in a statement. “Republicans, Independents, and Democrats are coming together to support Glenn Youngkin because they know he’s the only candidate that is focused on what really matters instead of the divisive politics of the past.”

Trump lost the state by ten points last year, but it seems McAuliffe realizes that Trump is not as toxic to Youngkin as he would have hoped.

Fingers crossed, and if you’re in Virginia, don’t forget to vote — and bring some friends.

JAMES HANKINS: We Shouldn’t Let the Education Crisis Go to Waste.

The most important factor keeping most American schoolchildren in unionized public schools is undoubtedly cost. Public schools, after all, are free, and it’s hard to beat free. Of course they are not really free; they are paid from tax revenues, mostly property taxes, which is to say they are in effect subsidized by wealthier property owners. Property-tax-paying parents understandably do not want to pay twice to school their children. To be sure, some public schools are highly rated. Precisely for that reason, many parents have been willing to pay a premium for homes in townships with good public schools. While it is true that the “awokening” of public schools has made even the best of them unpopular with most Americans, many parents, for now, will have to stick with their local public schools. It’s a question of path-dependence: for many Americans, to go private would mean radically altering college funding plans and perhaps push retirement several years further out. It could mean leaving beloved homes and communities for others with less burdensome property taxes.

What is clear is that a huge proportion of parents with children currently in K-12 public schools would go private if they could afford it. That much is revealed by the polling data compiled by EdChoice, a non-partisan organization committed to giving American parents more power over their children’s education. According to EdChoice’s Polling Dashboard, of current K-12 school parents, 83% have actually enrolled their children in district public schools, but only 39% would do so if they had the freedom to choose other kinds of school. 50% would like to send their children to private or charter schools, but only 14% are able to do so. 78% of the general population and 84% of current school parents favor Educational Savings Accounts (ESAs) once informed of how these accounts would work. Similar numbers favor some kind of public voucher system which would allow parents to decide which schools will receive the public funds allocated for their own child’s education. EdChoice’s polling data also shows that the last two years have seen a considerable jump in public support for educational choice in general, from the mid-70th percentile in 2018 to the mid-80s in 2020-21.

All this adds up, I believe, to a historic opportunity to set a new direction for American K-12 education.

HMM: Rittenhouse Defense Team Implodes Hours Before Jury Selection. “Mere hours before jury selection began in the self-defense trial of Kyle Rittenhouse in Kenosha, Wisconsin, a key defense attorney who put together a ‘dream team’ of jury selection experts announced he was off the case. Robert Barnes says the change in the defense team means someone is ‘deliberately sabotaging Kyle’s defense.'”

#DEFUNDTHEPOLICE: Leading Minnesota Democrats skip campaigning against policing question.

Three of Minnesota’s leading Democrats oppose the Minneapolis ballot question that could replace the city’s Police Department with a new public safety agency, but they aren’t campaigning against it.

More than a year after George Floyd died at the hands of Minneapolis police, the divide over Question 2 has torn through established partisan political lines. With polls closing Tuesday, U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith and Gov. Tim Walz have made their opposition clear but appear to be staying away from actively campaigning to defeat the measure.

The ballot question is a complicated one for Democratic politicians, said Kathryn Pearson, a University of Minnesota political science professor. It’s a rare local measure that has attracted statewide and national attention.

“They would just as soon not get involved in Minneapolis politics and be out front on an issue that’s, no matter what position they take, guaranteed to upset some of their supporters,” Pearson said. “If they were to be actively campaigning, it would also really highlight the divide within the Democratic Party.”

Even if this thing fails, police will remember that big-name Democrats didn’t have their backs.

MATT TAIBBI: The “Let’s Go, Brandon!” Freakout Goes Next-Level.

Is it really possible that these people don’t get they’re being trolled? Part of the joke of “Let’s Go Brandon,” of course, is that you couldn’t go five minutes during the last administration without hearing someone in pearls or a bowtie screaming “Fuck Trump!” I don’t remember Rangappa pumping out “Osama de Niro” tweets after this celebrated Tony Awards appearance.

The bigger part of the “Let’s Go Brandon!” gag is that such outbursts during the Trump years were not only not condemned, they were celebrated, as pundits and reporters for the first time told us directly profane insults of presidents were okay.

It’s different now because shut up.
