QUESTION ASKED: Did Biden just promote a fake hate crime?

“Twenty-five years ago today, Matthew Shepard lost his life to a brutal act of hate and violence that shocked our nation and the world,” the White House said . “The week prior, Matthew had been viciously attacked in a horrific anti-gay hate crime and left to die — simply for being himself.”

“Today, as threats and violence targeting the LGBTQI+ community continue to rise, our work is far from finished,” the president continued . “No American should face hate or violence for who they are or who they love. I once again call on Congress to send the Equality Act to my desk so that we can ensure LGBTQI+ Americans have full civil rights protections under our laws — because every American is worthy of dignity, acceptance, and respect.”

There’s just one problem: Matthew Shepard was indeed tragically murdered, but it almost certainly wasn’t because of his sexuality.

Yes, Sheppard’s death was believed to be an anti-gay hate crime at the time it occurred, but extensive reporting and evidence in the many years since has drastically undercut the original understanding of what happened as gaps in the narrative have arisen.

Earlier: The true story of Matthew Shepard: it wasn’t homophobia that killed him. “I’m not going to get into the details, except to note one thing: one of the killers was not a homophobic hater, but was in fact an on-again off-again lover of Matt’s. This is hardly the stuff of a homophobic hate crime; it was a meth-fueled murder spree that was ignited because the perpetrators were trying to steal a cache of the drug from Shepard.”

THE LEFT’S DEMAND FOR RACIAL HATRED IN AMERICA FAR EXCEEDS THE SUPPLY: Another fake hate crime in California.

We’ve seen enough of these stories over the past several years to make them hardly worth mentioning, but the response to this incident by both the media and the Sacramento school district where it took place merits a closer look. The “hate crime” in question took place at C.K. McClatchy High School on February 11th. Someone spray-painted the words “colored” and “white” above a pair of drinking fountains at the school, suggesting racial segregation during the Jim Crow era. An investigation was immediately launched to determine who could have perpetrated such an outrageous, racist desecration of the school. Unfortunately for the perpetrator, the vandalism was caught on camera. And unfortunately for those who were loudly pointing to it as yet another example of racial intolerance in America, the graffiti had been applied by a female, Black teenage student who is not being named because she is a minor.

The first curious aspect of the story involves the fact that it took so long for a public announcement to be made. The school obviously had access to that video almost immediately and if it had been some white kid wearing a face mask who they couldn’t immediately identify, the calls would have been going out the same day seeking help in identifying the racist perpetrator. But they sat on the story for more than a week before finally admitting what had happened. (Assuming they actually did admit it, which we’ll get to in a moment.)

If it had been some random white boy, you don’t need me to tell you what the response from the school district and the media would have been. But since it was done by a Black teenage girl, district officials are simply describing it as “a prank that went sideways.”

Why are our public schools so racist?

ANOTHER FAKE HATE CRIME: Jackson gay rights leader accused of burning down own home.

When the home of Nikki Joly burned down in 2017, killing five pets, the FBI investigated it as a hate crime.

After all, the transgender man and gay rights activist had received threats after having a banner year in this conservative town.

In the prior six months, he helped open the city’s first gay community center, organized the first gay festival and, after 18 years of failed attempts, helped lead a bruising battle for an ordinance that prohibits discrimination against gays.

For his efforts, a local paper named him the Citizen of the Year.

Authorities later determined the fire was intentionally set, but the person they arrested came as a shock to both supporters and opponents of the gay rights movement. It was the citizen of the year — Nikki Joly.

“It’s embarrassing,” said Travis Trombley, a gay resident who fought for the ordinance. “How do you do it to the community you have put so much effort into helping?”

For the coveted victim status? Anyway, it’s clear that the demand for hate crimes in Trump’s America far exceeds the supply.

IF IT WEREN’T FOR FAKE HATE CRIMES, HOW MANY HATE CRIMES WOULD THERE BE? Black college lacrosse player, 21, is arrested for spraying N-word and swastika graffiti targeting HIMSELF and other minority students in two incidents that terrorized the campus.

A black college lacrosse player has been arrested in connection with two incidents of racist graffiti found in a dorm on the Goucher College campus in Maryland.

Fynn Ajani Arthur, a 21-year-old from Brunswick, Maine, was charged with two counts of malicious destruction of property on Thursday night in Baltimore County.

His arrest came after graffiti aimed at black and Latino students was found on the second floor of a campus dorm, one floor above where similar graffiti had been found on November 14, Goucher College administrators said in a statement.

Both incidents that shook the Towson campus involved backward swastikas and targeted specific individuals, according to the statement.

Thursday’s graffiti depicted swastikas, the letters ‘KKK’ and appeared to include the last names of four black students, including Arthur. The previous graffiti reportedly said all ‘n*****s’ on campus would be killed.

I now start with the assumption that incidents like this are fake. The demand for Nazi/White Supremacist hatred far exceeds the supply.

IF IT WEREN’T FOR FAKE HATE CRIMES, HOW MANY HATE CRIMES WOULD WE HAVE? Children made up story about white man urinating on black child: police.

A story about a white man urinating on a 5-year-old black child and calling her a racial slur was fabricated, police said.

Grand Rapids police and prosecutors late Friday, Aug. 24 said they determined the story was not valid and said no charges would be issued against a 60-year-old man arrested following the initial report on Wednesday.

Police said several children, all 7 or younger, were playing together sometime before 6 p.m. Wednesday when one of the children urinated on the 5-year-old girl.

Kent County prosecutors said the parents of the children, in talking with them, ultimately determined the children “concocted the story to avoid trouble.”

“We appreciate the conscientiousness of the parents in bringing the matter to the attention of the police, and continuing to ask their children questions as new evidence was obtained,” prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said the 60–year-old man had a “verifiable alibi” from other people who vouched for his whereabouts.

The allegations, when first reported late Wednesday, caused concern across the community and NAACP leaders on Friday said the incident should be considered both a hate crime and sex assault.

Maybe don’t be so quick to jump on stories like this next time?

IF IT WEREN’T FOR FAKE HATE CRIMES, HOW MANY HATE CRIMES WOULD THERE BE? ISU professor arrested, accused of making up threats and attack. “Azhar Hussain, an assistant professor at ISU has been arrested on charges alleging he made false reports of anti-Islamic threats against him and even reported an attack authorities say did not happen.”

IF IT WEREN’T FOR FAKE HATE CRIMES, HOW MANY HATE CRIMES WOULD WE HAVE? Yet Another Hoax: KKK Trump-Supporter Who Made Racist Threats Turns Out To Be … Black.

After Trump humiliated the national media by winning the 2016 presidential election, the media went all-in on a campaign to prove that Trump’s victory had emboldened his racist supporters across the country to commit a series of hate crimes. The only problem is that like the above incident in Tennessee, most of these hate-crimes turned out to be hoaxes, or just plain old lies perpetrated by Trump-haters as a means to make the President and his supporters look bad.

The Muslim woman robbed of her hijab in Louisiana? Never happened.

The black woman racially-harassed at a Philadelphia gas station? Never happened.

The Asian student racially-taunted in Minnesota? Never happened.

The bisexual student receiving hate-notes in Chicago? Never happened.

The black church burned to the grown and defaced with “Vote Trump!” Committed by a black man.

Asian store firebombed by a white Trump supporter? Committed by a black man.

Michigan student told to remove her hijab or be lit on fire? Never happened.

Racist note left for Hispanic students in North Carolina? Written by a Trump-hating Hispanic.

The Jewish Community Centers serially-threatened with anti-Semitic bomb threats? One perpetrator was a Jewish man, the other was a left-wing member of the very same media that spent weeks blaming Trump for these crimes.

Donald Trump is not inspiring hate crimes, he is not even inspiring the hoaxes. What is inspiring the hoaxers is an irresponsible and rabidly partisan American media addicted to any kind of Fake News that confirms their twisted worldview.

Yeah, pretty much.

FAKE HATE CRIMES:

Shot:

The Left, for the moment, cannot seriously compete in the theater of ideas. So rather than play the ball, it’s play the man. Socialism failed, but there is some juice to be had from convincing people who are not especially intellectually engaged and who are led by their emotions more than by their intellect — which is to say, most people — that the people pushing ideas contrary to yours are racists and anti-Semites, that they hate women and homosexuals and Muslims and foreigners, that they could not possibly be correct on the policy questions, because they are moral monsters. This is the ad hominem fallacy elevated, if not quite to a creed, then to a general conception of politics. Hence the hoaxes and lies and nonsense.

Phony hate crimes. Phony hate.

HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: Clemson’s Fake Hate Crime Story Gets Worse:

An email exchange between top Clemson officials suggests that the administration welcomed the opportunity to use the now infamous “banana banner” incident to push a progressive agenda.

On Monday, April 11, a bunch of bananas was found hanging from a banner mounted on campus honoring the history of African Americans at Clemson, resulting in on-campus protests and a sit-in that lead to the arrest of five students.

According to emails released by Clemson under the Freedom of Information Act that were obtained by Campus Reform, key players involved in the incident seemingly regarded its racial undertones as an occasion to suffocate conservative sentiments out of the administration.

Last week, in response to a separate FOIA request, Clemson released emails sent by top administrators in the immediate aftermath of the incident, one of which seemed to suggest that school officials believed that the students who hung the bananas were not racially motivated.

“Two students came forward and told they had done bananas,” Vice President for Student Affairs Almeda Jacks wrote in an email to other administrators on the evening of April 11. “Their claim is [that] they had no idea of pole or banner,” she explained, adding, “nobody will believe that tho [sic] our folks think true.”

In a more recent correspondence between Altheia Richardson, executive director of Clemson’s Harvey and Lucinda Gantt Multicultural Center, and Professor Todd May, who apparently has been trying with little success to move conservative administrators away from their “party line,” the two seem to hint at the potential leverage the incident could afford in future conversations with school leaders.

Some Clemson students, who were verbally intimidated at a protest after the incident, commented on the exchange and offered their own theories on its significance.

“From what I read, it seems like Altheia was warning those two professors [another professor was copied to the exchange but did not participate] not to assume that Clements and Almeda were unprogressive,” student Miller Hall, member of a free speech activist group known as “We Roar,” told Campus Reform, saying it is likely that Richardson was “convincing them that they could get them to cooperate with the progressive agenda.”

Zach Talley, another WeRoar member who also serves as editor-in-chief of The Tiger Town Observer, explained that May has in fact been trying for years to infiltrate the administration with his liberal ideologies, but has been repeatedly stonewalled by a reluctant president.

“He has been for years and years and years pushing a liberal agenda,” Talley remarked. “May is the brain behind the operation, and he tries to accomplish his liberal agenda through minorities on campus because he is a straight white male.”

Notably, one of the student protesters involved in April’s sit-in is the son a top administrator at Clemson, Alesia Smith, who later recused herself from leading the investigation into the banana banner incident due to a conflict of interest. The date of her recusal is noted as April 14, which is in the middle of the date range for records released in the latest Freedom of Information Act response, yet while the dump does include emails from other administrators concerning the university’s conflict of interest policy, no mention of her recusal is included in the release.

I imagine the South Carolina legislature will look into this.

IF IT WEREN’T FOR FAKE HATE CRIMES, WOULD WE HAVE ANY HATE CRIMES AT ALL? University of Iowa student’s family recants claims of hate crime.

Marcus Owens, the black University of Iowa student whose family claimed he was the victim of a hate crime and racial slurs at the hands of three white men, has issued a public apology after an Iowa City police investigation showed him to be involved in three fights during the hours the assault was alleged to have occurred.

“Upon learning more details of the case, and while racial slurs served to fuel the violence, Marcus now knows that his account of events was inconsistent with police findings,” a statement from Owens and his family reads, “in part due to alcohol being involved, his embarrassment at his behavior, as well as injuries he sustained.” . . .

Owens originally reported to Iowa City police on May 2 that he had been assaulted by three white men in the alley way of the 200 block of Iowa Avenue on April 30. Owens told police the attack happened between 10 and 11 p.m. Owens suffered several injuries, including broken teeth, during the fight.

Iowa City police began their investigation into Owens’ allegations on May 2. Investigators were able to interview multiple witnesses and used video surveillance footage to piece together what took place. . . .

Multiple witnesses told police Owens was worried about how he would explain his injuries to his family.

Evergreen.
