FROM STORIES LIKE THIS, YOU’D THINK THAT HIGHER EDUCATION IS AN INDUSTRY THAT DOESN’T WORRY ABOUT ITS REPUTATION: ANOTHER university stops students from handing out Constitution. “Administrators further clarified their level of respect for students’ free speech rights, making comments like, ‘This isn’t really the ’60s anymore,’ and ‘people can’t really protest like that anymore,’ according to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education. . . . Administrators also maintained that university policy took precedent over Constitutional rights, according to the complaint.”

In the 1960s, college was affordable, faculty outnumbered administrators, and speech was free. It’s hard for me to view today’s situation as an improvement.
