IS IT OKAY TO HOPE THE E.U. FAILS? It’s not at all clear that the E.U. has “helped end centuries of strife on the continent” — that’s certainly premature given that the EU has been around for barely an eyeblink, and has benefited from the ongoing subsidy of U.S. troops and influence. But if you expect the E.U. to be a disaster, it’s probably better if it fails sooner, rather than later.
