ABORTION AND A Raisin In The Sun. But can this be true? “Twice as many Black children are eliminated through abortion than are born.” That’s an awful lot of abortions.

UPDATE: Okay, I found this from the CDC, but it’s from 2000: “In the 41 areas for which race was adequately reported, approximately 55% of women who obtained legal induced abortions were known to be white, 35% were black, and 7% were of other races; for 3% of the women, race was unknown. (Table 9). The abortion ratio for black women (503 per 1,000 live births) was 3.0 times the ratio for white women (167 per 1,000 live births).” But that’s “more than half of pregnancies are aborted” not “twice as many pregnancies are aborted.” Still a lot, but. . . .

ANOTHER UPDATE: Oops — I read “live births” as “pregnancies,” but that’s not right of course. Reader D.J. Schreffler corrects me: “503 abortions per 1000 live births is 503 abortions per 1503 total pregnancies. So that should be just over 1/3 of all black pregnancies are ending in abortions, not 1/2.”
