SPACE: Study highlights the young age of permanently shadowed lunar areas. It’s interesting that the permanently shadowed regions on Mercury may hold more ice than the Moon. I remember Larry Niven’s classic short story, “The Coldest Place,” set on Mercury. Niven is a smart guy, but Mercury turned out not to be tidally locked. But maybe he’ll turn out to be right in a sense, as the shadowed craters at the poll may fit the bill.
