Political upheavals can be a very dangerous time, especially when ideologies are as far apart as they are now. The story if of the birth of the USAian religion I used in the Darkship books.  For the record, I thought it was the most hopeful possible story with the shared reality I was handed. So I was a little surprised when the editor told me “Oh, it’s nice and dark.”  which sort of tells you where my head has been.
