The thing to remember is that the vast majority of reporters — and Dave Weigel is certainly in this group — see their role as advancing the power of the Democratic Party in general, and the power of the left wing of the Democratic Party in particular, against all threats and barriers thereto. The pursuit of truth as such isn’t even on their list.
