THEY THREW EVERYTHING THEY HAD AT HIM AND THEY FAILED. So Trump’s meeting with the press lords goes exactly as you’d expect. “The meeting was a total disaster. The TV execs and anchors went in there thinking they would be discussing the access they would get to the Trump administration, but instead they got a Trump-style dressing down.”

The press’s special institutional place in the post-World War II era has stemmed from two things: The belief that it had a lot of power, and the belief that it would use that power more or less responsibly. This election cycle changed both beliefs, at least in Trump’s mind and the minds of his voters.

Note that he’s making nice with the head of Black Entertainment Television, though. . . .
