There’s some pretty impressive stuff, especially at the beginning, but I’ve seen C-130s do similarly impressive stuff — it’s all about energy management. Since I don’t think the 787 has a thrust-to-weight ratio that will support vertical climbs, it’s really about taking off at a higher-than-normal speed and then converting some of that speed into altitude. Am I right?
