FROM CAROLINE FURLONG:  Debris (The Rise of the Discarded Series Book 1).

Strength has many facets….

Lost in thought, Ayar’s mind was on his invention that would allow premature griffin cubs to survive. He had no inkling he would rescue a creature that he suspected might be rational. Who would put one of their own out to die like that?

Rhys Callahan wanted to avoid a point of known pirate activity. Then he flew directly into one, and his ship was shot out of the sky. He managed a terrifying crash-landing on the nearest planet only to find himself among regressed humans who thought he was a god. When they realized he wasn’t, they became angry. Then they chained him to an upthrust boulder as a sacrifice to their local deity.

Neither Ayar nor Rhys ever expected to meet one another. But now that they have, maybe together they can fight for both their kinds. First, though, they need to learn how to communicate – and hope that neither of them is killed before they can get their enterprise off the ground!

Welcome to the first book in the Rise of the Discarded series!

OKAY, I MIGHT BE INSANE, BUT SOME PEOPLE LIKE THE INSANITY:  Songs of No Man’s Land.

And no, I didn’t put her up to this.

Note that the seemingly human musicians have robot hands. They’re all clankers. Two are just better disguised.

METFORMIN UPDATE: After 60 Years, Diabetes Drug Found to Unexpectedly Impact The Brain. “This also ties into other interesting studies that have found the same drug can slow brain aging and improve lifespan. With a better understanding of how metformin works, we may see it used for a broader range of purposes in the future.”

NEW REPORT: Kimmel Was About to Make Things Even Worse Before Suspension.

Before Jimmy Kimmel got “indefinitely preempted,” there was a report that he wasn’t going to apologize, and that he didn’t think he had done anything to apologize for when he implied that the alleged assassin of Charlie Kirk was MAGA and mocked MAGA grief over Kirk’s death.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the Maga gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

That’s what he said on Monday.

On Tuesday, he said, “Many in MAGA-land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk.” He then accused Vice President JD Vance of blaming the left without evidence, despite what the authorities had previously said about the alleged killer being on the left, including earlier on Tuesday. Then he claimed the right had more extremist violence and brought up Jan. 6.

So by Wednesday, Disney wanted to know how he would address the controversy he had created. According to the Wall Street Journal, Kimmel was about to make it worse. He planned to address it by blaming MAGA, saying that his words were being “purposely twisted” by them.

And as a result: Jimmy Kimmel Live! Replaced by Celebrity Family Feud After Being Pulled by ABC amid Host’s Comments About Charlie Kirk.

The old line about Colin Kaepernick was that if you’re going to do Muhammad Ali-style political stunts, you better have Ali-level talent as an athlete to get get away with them. The current crop of late night hosts think they’re successors to Johnny Carson, while getting a much smaller audience to turn on the TV at 11:30 pm: Jimmy Kimmel’s ratings were plummeting before ABC suspended him for Charlie Kirk comments.

Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show was bleeding viewers before Disney-owned ABC pulled the plug and suspended him for his comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Nielsen data showed sharp summer declines and a year-long slide that leaves him trailing late-night rivals such as Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld and CBS star Stephen Colbert.

According to monthly Nielsen figures, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” dropped to just 1.1 million total viewers in August 2025, down 43% from January’s 1.95 million. His August household rating of 0.35 marked the weakest showing of the year.

In sharp contrast, as the New Yorker noted last year, “At its peak, [the Johnny Carson-era Tonight Show] was regularly watched by seventeen million people.” Keep the disparity between Carson’s numbers and those of Kimmel and Colbert in mind when assessing the meltdowns of their defenders.

JOHN NOLTE: Unity Achieved: MAGA Supports Democrat Boycott of Disney/ABC over Jimmy Kimmel Cancellation.

Democrats want unity, and I think a work stoppage at Disney/ABC is something that can finally bring us together.

“Every major talent that works for ABC and Disney should refuse to show up for work until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated,” Marvel director Wajahat Ali wrote on X. “Marvel movies need to shutdown. Ditto the sitcoms. Collective boycott.”

He added: “Corporations love money more than anything, & this will really harm them and force them to do the right thing.”

Jimmy Kimmel — a uniter, not a divider! “Every major talent that works for ABC and Disney should refuse to show up for work until Jimmy Kimmel is reinstated. Marvel movies need to shutdown. Ditto the sitcoms.

No, really, take as much time as you need. Make the Hollywood strike of 2023 seem like an extended holiday weekend, and get the viewers and the moviegoers involved, too:

Exit quote from Nolte: “Kimmel committed an ethical breach of conduct and a blood libel. So, now the left-wing blacklisters are cornered. The reaping phase has begun. And all they can do — tee hee — is target one of their own (Disney/ABC) for annihilation as they move over to our side of the aisle raging against cancel culture. This is glorious.”
