SHE’S DOING HARM: Ilhan Omar Knows What She’s Doing. “Omar, as the kids say, is owning her truth. Her tap dance follows a pattern that is by now well established, in which the justice-seeking congresswoman makes nakedly prejudicial remarks, pretends to walk them back in the face of muted criticism from her colleagues, characterizes the criticism itself as Islamophobic, and proceeds to reoffend.”
CAMPUS “JUSTICE.” University rebuked for expelling accused student after his accuser had to be told she was sexually assaulted. “The University of Denver has an inferable history of anti-male bias in its investigation of sexual misconduct cases, the 10th Circuit Court found in its remanding of a lawsuit back to the district court. The university, by contrast, argued that it is not biased for or against males or females as such, but that its sexual assault investigation and judicial process may just be tilted against the accused — thus using a sex-neutral classification to avoid liability under Title IX sex discrimination law.”
Weird that colleges are having increasing trouble recruiting male students. And really, when that’s your best defense. . . .

WITH GOOD REASON: Law profs fault vague, empty ABA ‘diversity’ proposal. “So what is ABA accreditation about? Appearances. Accreditation is about looking woke. And to that end, the ABA wields its accreditation power as a virtue-signaling manifesto. Too many times, for too many years, I have seen law schools pursue feel-good social agendas, with ABA imprimatur, and it’s students, ironically often students of color, who pay the price for the reality that the agenda is mere facade.”
So long as the woke white people feel better about themselves, it’s worth it.

2022 PREVIEW: Vulnerable Democrat Kurt Schrader Says ‘No One’ is Trying to Defund the Police, Despite the Push from Inside His Own Party. “Schrader, who said “no one” is trying to defund the police, also voted in March to ‘defund the police.’ Schrader voted to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act of 2021, with the majority of House Democrats, on an almost party-line vote of 220-212. The Act was described by Republicans as a plan that would engage in ‘defunding the police.'”
ADDRESSING HIGHER ED’S DIVERSITY PROBLEM: Gov. DeSantis and the need for viewpoint diversity in higher education.
Florida’s Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis recently signed a bill to protect against indoctrination in the state’s colleges and universities. The new law, which goes into effect on July 1, requires Florida’s public colleges and universities to conduct an annual survey measuring “intellectual freedom and viewpoint diversity” on their campuses. The law’s goal is to assess “the extent to which competing ideas and perspectives are presented” and how free students, faculty, and staff feel “to express their beliefs and viewpoints.”
The Florida law does not specify what will be done with the survey results, but Gov. DeSantis suggested that budget cuts could result if universities and colleges are found to be “indoctrinating” students. “It used to be thought that a university campus was a place where you’d be exposed to a lot of different ideas,” DeSantis said. “Unfortunately, now the norm is really these are more intellectually repressive environments.” . . .
The problem DeSantis has identified is not unique to Florida — Indiana’s Republican governor signed a similar bill last month — and it traces directly to the political biases of the processes by which faculty are hired. Many of the same colleges and universities that tout tenure as a way to encourage free thought censor it by not allowing conservative and libertarian faculty candidates who think freely to get in the door.
I once suggested on the ConLawProf group email list that law schools need to hire more conservative and libertarian candidates (with “more” meaning, at a minimum, at least one). The reaction? One law professor posted that I was “nuts” to suggest such a thing. Libertarian law professor Nicholas Quinn Rosenkranz quipped at a Federalist Society conference on intellectual diversity in the legal academy that his leftist colleagues at Georgetown felt that three conservatives on a law faculty of 120 was “plenty — and perhaps even one or two too many.”
Anecdotes aside, Northwestern University law professor James Lindgren has published detailed statistical surveys that document that Republicans and Christians are the groups most under-represented in the law professoriate. If the small handful of right-leaning and Christian law schools is excluded from the dataset, the problem is actually worse. Additional studies demonstrate that lack of viewpoint diversity among faculty extends campus-wide. For example, according to research conducted last year by the National Association of Scholars, Democratic professors outnumber their Republican colleagues by a ratio of 8.5 to 1 on top college campuses.
“Research since World War II has consistently found overwhelmingly left-oriented political attitudes and ideological self-identification among college and university faculty” the report notes. The report also found that the most drastic differences in the ratio were among professors of English, at 26.8 to 1, sociology, at 27 to 1, and anthropology, 42.2 to 1. Less “subjective” majors such as mathematics (5.5 to 1), chemistry (4.6 to 1), and economics (3 to 1) were less politically biased.
Not surprisingly, DeSantis’ critics are throwing fits.
If you don’t care about this, then you’re just using “diversity” as a code for “racial preferences.” But higher education is a major part of the left’s apparat, and they won’t let it go without a fight.

WHY THE LEFTY PANIC OVER ERIC ADAMS?
The left is living in dread fear of losing minority votes. That’s powering their divisive and nakedly racist policies now. They actually believe that undermining the entire American project and teaching us all to hate each other is their path to retaining power. And they may be right!
Adams is nominally a Democrat but has long been suspected of being a closet Republican as are many cops of all ethnicities. As Democrats defund police, police chiefs in big cities more openly question and criticize them.
Look what’s going on in Michigan. There, a deeply unpopular Democrat governor is set to be challenged by the retired police chief of Detroit, who is both black and a Republican.
Popcorn.
KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Can DeSantis Effortlessly Cruise All the Way To 2024? “Even avid Trump supporters are big DeSantis fans, so if Trump decides he’s having more fun living rent-free in Democrats’ heads without the hassle of being president, the governor is an excellent choice for 2024.”

GOVERNOR FLOP SWEAT: California Democrats pass law to change recall rules and help Gov. Newsom fend off challengers. “The law amends existing recall rules to allow the election to happen at least 30 days earlier than under existing state law. By moving up the recall date, Newsom’s challengers will have less time to campaign against him, giving Newsom a clear upper hand — not that he needed one in Democrat-haven California.”
The story also notes that Newsom “quickly signed the bill into law.”
I don’t doubt that.

Test. Test. Test. examine internal inconsistencies. And for the love of heaven, use your own good reason and judgement. Anyone who paid ten seconds of attention to the numbers of the Diamond Princess would shrug off the “Dread Plague Winnie.”
Numbers don’t lie. Whatever the idiots on the left say, 2 +2 does very much equal four. And cruise ships that are disease vectors in the best of time show that if not everyone — of an older and more infirm population than we have — died, if in fact fewer died than would have died from rampant stomach flu, this was a nothingburger. Thinking and reality testing would have stopped the covidiocy.
In the same way looking at the numbers for the election would tell you that unless the magi delivered batches of votes in the middle of the night and made racist Joe more attractive to black people than Barrack Obama, there was fraud.
In the same way our cowardly Supreme Court might have guessed the summer riots were memorex designed to scare them, and that being idiots and going along with the coup increases exponentially the chances of real riots and real death.
Think. I beg you to think.
Trust me: take it from someone who does it for a living: creating an internally consistent internal reality is almost impossible. It’s all repetition and seeming to come from everywhere at once. But if you look, the cracks, inconsistencies and impossibilities are there.
