And the ultimate strength of the republic. Of course, he’s also underestimating the butcher’s bill restoring the republic will carry. Ah, well. He’s an intellectual. But one thing he’s absolutely right on. The left has dropped their masks. We’ve seen the horror beneath. They can’t hide again. They won’t endure.

IT’S TIME TO CANCEL THE VILLAGE PEOPLE:
Forget the fact that the music video was made with the help of the US Navy. The Village People, despite cashing in on military trappings, have remained silent on the struggle for trans people to serve openly in the military.
Silence is violence. And the name of the group itself is violence against trans womxn of color. Manhattan’s Greenwich Village today is emblematic of cis-het gentrification and a painful reminder of white real-estate terrorism. Take a stroll down Christopher Street on any given Friday night and see for yourself: trans womxn of color banished to basement stairwells and parked cars to perform sex acts for money in the shadows rather than high on a pedestal wearing golden knee pads.
Caitlyn Jenner, at the time operating under her slave name Bruce, starred in a 1980 biopic about the Village People that flopped, and was even voted the worst movie of that year, further proving that transphobia has always followed this group around.
So has cultural appropriation. The Village People’s original studio band was called Gypsy Lane, an offensive slang term for itinerate Romani people. They were still at it as late as 2000, when the Village People released a single called ‘Gunbalanya,’after an Australian aboriginal word they believed meant ‘in the tribe,’ but was actually just the name of an aboriginal settlement.
Then there’s the complicated issue of Felipe Ortiz Rose, a founding member of the group who played the Indian character until 2017. Usually dressed in a warbonnet and loincloth, Rose has claimed Native American ancestry, but we’ve yet to see the 23andMe results. The Brooklyn native currently says he’s of Lakota and Taino descent, yet in the past said he was Apache. Something tells me his actual tribe might be Puerto Rican. Is that racist? The professors have yet to tackle that one.
It’s satire, but let’s not give the left any ideas, huh?
Biden spent decades in the U.S. Senate, and during that time he vociferously defended the filibuster. He also defended the Hyde Amendment — which prevents pro-life taxpayers from funding abortion, something many of them consider to be murder. Yet in the 2020 primary, Biden flipped on Hyde, and he appears to be mid-flip on the filibuster.
Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) skewered Biden for threatening to nuke the filibuster.
“Senator Biden was a relentless defender of the filibuster — but now that President Biden looks in the mirror and sees FDR, he’s keeping the door open for a complete 180 to blow up the institution he spent four decades defending,” Sasse said in a statement after Biden’s press conference.
“He was right when he summed it up this way numerous times: ‘The Senate ought not act rashly by changing its rules to satisfy a strong-willed majority.’”
The legacy media should take notice. Any president who threatens to destroy the filibuster in squeeze his radical legislation through a fifty-fifty Senate without a single Republican vote cannot be considered a “moderate.”
HERE’S WHAT BIG TECH SHOULD WORRY ABOUT: Forget the huffing and puffing of the average Washington politician about Big Tech censorship and reforming Section 230. Even if they eventually do something there, it will take lots of time and even then the career bureaucrats will a hundred ways around it.
Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Rep. Bob Latta (R-Ohio) described the effects on young people, especially teens, of being constantly subjected to Big Tech algorithmic manipulation. Big Tech’s power privileges will end when America’s Moms and Dads realize what’s being done to their kids.
JIM TREACHER: Jay Leno Apologizes for Jokes About One Ethnic Group Out of Many.
Jay Leno is guilty of nothing worse than being a lazy, overpaid hack. If you want to see him grovel for forgiveness, it should be for stealing Letterman’s spot on The Tonight Show.
Of course, Leno’s apology won’t keep people off his back. In 2019, a comedian named Shane Gillis was fired from Saturday Night Live, before he’d even appeared on a single episode, because of some Asian jokes. He apologized, but he got canned anyway. McCammond, the would-be Teen Vogue editor, also apologized for her Asian jokes, several times over the course of the past decade, and it didn’t do her any good either. An apology is just like blood in the water. It only stokes the frenzy.
Let this be a warning to you: Don’t make any jokes about eating dogs, or Jackie Chan, or being hungry an hour later, or anything that has to do with Asians. And whatever you do, don’t call COVID-19 “the Chinese virus” or “the Wuhan virus,” just because the virus indisputably originated in Wuhan, China. Just stop thinking about these things and feed the narrative, or you’ll be fed to it. The narrative has an insatiable appetite and will eat anyone or anything that stands in its way.
(Also, just because 10 white people were murdered in Boulder by a guy named Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, that doesn’t mean their race has anything to do with it. Uh, hello, they were white.)

MARK STEYN TESTIFIES: Powerline’s covering it and I’m glad it is. Climate activist Michael Mann is suing Steyn for defamation based on a post Steyn wrote for the National Review’s blog. Steyn called Mann’s outrageous global warming hockey stick graph a fraud. I’ve been following this case for years, with great interest. It’s dragged on for over eight years — Mann filed it in 2012. John Hinderaker’s Powerline post has the relevant history as well as an update and links.
