POINTS AND FIGURES: Leading from fear. “Worth dissecting where we are with Covid. Instead of watching the television, or listening to blowhard politicians, it is best to look at data and statistics. Unfortunately, most people do not understand stats. Most of the stats you see in the news are manipulated in some way to drive an opinion.”

HMM:

AMERICANS STEPPING UP WHEN OFFICIALDOM HAS FAILED: US special operations vets carry out daring mission to save Afghan allies. “With the Taliban growing more violent and adding checkpoints near Kabul’s airport, an all-volunteer group of American veterans of the Afghan war launched a final daring mission on Wednesday night dubbed the ‘Pineapple Express’ to shepherd hundreds of at-risk Afghan elite forces and their families to safety, members of the group told ABC News.”

I THINK THE EXCUSES ARE BEGINNING TO TAKE SHAPE:

“Biden is a stubborn guy,” one former Obama-administration foreign-policy official told me, speaking on condition of anonymity to talk more freely. “Sometimes he does not want to hear what he knows he doesn’t like … If the problem here was mostly not hearing what he didn’t want to hear and telling everyone to shut up and go away when they told him things he didn’t want to hear, that’s not the intelligence community’s fault.”

Sorry, won’t fly. Nobody resigned in protest. Nobody even leaked that Biden was ignoring advice. And the “Intelligence Community” didn’t predict the rapid collapse of the Afghan government. Can’t pin it all on the dotard in the White House — who the “Intelligence Community” worked hard, and illicitly, to put there anyway. You guys own this disaster, all the way down.

WE COULD USE A WIN RIGHT NOW: Feds to restart oil leasing after Biden loss in court. “Many of the promises that Joe Biden made to his progressive base during the campaign were the focus of his avalanche of executive orders signed shortly after taking office. Those actions won him widespread praise from liberals and most of the mainstream press. But one by one, a lot of those plans have begun to wilt after being exposed to the realities of the world.”

That’s an apt description of pretty much everything Biden has done as POTUS.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: Jill Biden Should Be Arrested for Elder Abuse. “The country typically needs to hear from the president a lot in times like this. The problem with having Biden playing the role of president right now is that he is — for a variety of reasons — incapable of inspiring confidence. Obviously, the first of those reasons is that he is responsible for all of this. The other reason is that he is just a broken shell of whatever he once was.”
