NO MORE TALKING THE TALK BUT NOT WALKING IT ON SCHOOL CHOICE, GOP: Republicans have been talking about school choice for decades, but, at least at the federal level, such talk is cheap and little has changed.

Writing in The Federalist, Jonathan Tobin looks at the Virginia election of 2021 and concludes it was “a clarion call for Republicans to understand that an education platform that includes choice is a political winner, not the afterthought it has largely been for the party these past 20 years. As former Obama aide Stephanie Cutter said after the Virginia vote, the greatest danger for Democrats is for Republicans to become the ‘party of the parents.’ She’s right.”

Republicans, are you listening?

MEANWHILE, OVER AT VODKAPUNDIT: Don’t Look Now, But There’s a Nuclear Nightmare A-Brewing. “MAD is dying, strangled by Chinese and Russian arms, and we invite our own destruction when we can no longer make it mutual.”

CONSEQUENCES: South Carolina, Montana State School Board Associations Sever Ties with National Organization. “In the wake of the National School Board Association’s letter to the Biden administration requesting federal intervention to penalize parents who protest at school-board meetings, 23 state chapters have now distanced themselves from the headquarters, and seven have disassociated altogether. After the New Hampshire, Missouri, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, and Ohio state school-board associations ended their memberships with the NSBA, citing grievances with its decision to engage the Biden administration without first consulting them, South Carolina and Montana followed their example and severed ties Monday.”

Maybe inquire with your state and local school boards whether they’re affiliated with NSBA, and if so, suggest/demand that they disaffiliate.

KRISTALLNACHT 83 YEARS AGO TODAY: Jeff Dunetz at The Lid reminds us that Kristallnacht was the public launch of the Holocaust. One cannot help but wonder if this is where Cancel Culture leads.

CIVIL RIGHTS UPDATE: Biden Admin Amassing Millions of Records on US Gun Owners Amid New Crackdown on Firearms.

The Biden administration in just the past year alone stockpiled the records of more than 54 million U.S. gun owners and is poised to drastically alter gun regulations to ensure that information on Americans who own firearms ultimately ends up in the federal government’s hands, according to internal Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

The ATF in fiscal year 2021 processed 54.7 million out-of-business records, according to an internal ATF document obtained by the Gun Owners of America, a firearms advocacy group, and provided exclusively to the Free Beacon. When a licensed gun store goes out of business, its private records detailing gun transactions become ATF property and are stored at a federal site in West Virginia. This practice allows the federal government to stockpile scores of gun records and has drawn outrage from gun advocacy groups that say the government is using this information to create a national database of gun owners—which has long been prohibited under U.S. law.

They don’t give a damn about the law — only power.

RICHARD FERNANDEZ: Your Escape Pod From Zuckerberg’s Metaverse. “Imagine a world in which PJ Media, Instapundit—what is sometimes called alternative journalism—never existed. Would there be a largely seamless, superficially predictable place where white and black hats in stories are assigned by editorial boards from the outset? Or would it be something grimmer, what Mark Zuckerberg calls the ‘metaverse’?”

(Re-bumped — a little trouble on the backend.)

ONE OF OUR VICE PRESIDENTS IS MISSING! Have You Seen Kamala Harris? Neither Has Anyone Else. “How does a Veep turn things around when the more people see her, the less they like her? The solution seems to be to keep her looking busy doing things that A) No one cares about and B) Not even Harris could screw up (probably, maybe).”

CHECK OUT JOB BOARD FOR PEOPLE WHO LOVE FREEDOM: Andrew Crapuchettes lost his job as CEO of a highly profitable tech firm because of his religious views. So he went out and started RedBalloon.work, a job board for connecting “employers who value freedom with employees who value it too.”

The web site adds that “we envision a world beyond cancel culture, where employees are free to work… without fear that they will find themselves on the wrong side of their employer’s politics. That’s it. No agendas, politics, or drama. Just work. Interested? Let’s create that world together.”

What a concept, a world where free people can work freely!

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEF: The Americans Who Matter Are Opposed to Vaccine Mandates. “The soy boy betas who pollute politics, academia, and the mainstream media are the strongest proponents of vaccine mandates, and we really don’t need any of them to continue functioning. They’re all busy jackboot-stomping all over our freedoms and not contributing anything else to society.”

GREAT MOMENTS IN GASLIGHTING: Sen. Rick Scott Leaves CNN’s Brianna Keilar Reeling After Testy Exchange On CRT.

“We’re going to see just like in Virginia Terry McAuliffe wanted to say there’s nothing about Critical Race Theory. We know it’s true. Parents know their kids are being indoctrinated with Critical Race Theory in Virginia and Democrats wanted to deny it. And so parents showed up because they don’t like being lied to.”

Keilar immediately jumped in, saying, “just to be clear, it’s not in the curriculum in Virginia.”

That’s when Scott cited evidence from Virginia’s Department of Education website that shows CRT has been part of public schools’ curriculum even when Terry McAuliffe was last governor.

However, Keilar jumped in again to repeat, “To be clear, it’s not part of the curriculum.”

Scott went on to cite examples of the concept being taught in Virginia public schools and said he hopes Democrats keep saying that they are not promoting CRT even when the evidence suggests they do because “parents are not stupid.”

* * * * * * * *

“Fine. It’s not part of the curriculum. I would like to move on with you,” Keilar said, before moving on to a new subject.

Despite Keilar’s claims that CRT is “not part of the curriculum” in Virginia schools, the Virginia Education Department does promote pro-CRT books on its website, as Scott claimed and as reported by the Daily Caller.

SOMEONE SET UP US THE BOMB: CNN’s April Ryan asks Pete Buttigieg to address the ‘racism’ built into our roadways.

“Also can you give us the construct of how you will deconstruct the racism that was built into roadways?” Ryan asked.

Ryan then referenced an earlier interview Buttigieg gave The Grio in April when he said “there is racism physically built into some of our highways.”

“I’m still surprised that had some people were surprised when I pointed to the fact that if a highway was built for the purpose of dividing a White and a Black neighborhood or if an underpass was constructed such that a bus carrying mostly Black and Puerto Rican kids to a beach, or that would have been, in New York was designed too low for it to pass by, that that obviously reflects racism that went into those design choices,” Buttigieg responded during the press briefing.

More here: Watch: Buttigieg is asked how he plans to ‘deconstruct the racism that was built into the roadways.’

Hillbilly Elegy author J.D. Vance, also an Ohio candidate running for Senate, added on Twitter: “Nothing in this country works. It takes years to repair a bridge that was built in far less time. Every big city has skyrocketing murder rates. China is about to take over the world even as we name Navy ships after pedophiles. And our reporters ask about the racism of our roads?”

“Please make our roads thinner and less racist,” Spectator contributing editor Stephen Miller ridiculed. “This is where our media is today.”

With Christmas seven weeks away*, wouldn’t Buttigieg be better off pretending to be concerned about supply chain issues, and tell his Democrat Party operatives with Chyrons that he’ll start pretending about racist roads starting early next year?

* Although to be fair, there is a simple fallback solution here: ‘Christmas dinner in a can’ promises answer to supermarket shortages.
