Even Bernie Sanders came out against a soda tax.
During his 2016 presidential bid Bernie Sanders slammed Hillary Clinton’s endorsement of a soda tax. Sanders said:
“The mechanism here is fairly regressive. And that is, it will be increasing taxes on low income and working people.”
Sanders went on to note that Clinton’s embrace of a soda tax violated her pledge to the American people not to support any tax increase on Americans making less than $250,000 per year.
“Frankly, I am very surprised that Secretary Clinton would support this regressive tax after pledging not to raise taxes on anyone making less than $250,000. This proposal clearly violates her pledge,” Sanders said.
Needless to stay, this tax would violate Biden’s pledge to not raise a single penny of any tax on any American making less than $400,000 per year.
To borrow from Jim Geraghty’s recurring phrase during the Obama years, all of Joe Biden’s promises come with expiration dates.

I DON’T THINK THIS IS AS CUT-AND-DRIED AS JONATHAN ADLER DOES: The Pardon Power May Be Broad, But that Does Not Mean a Self-Pardon Would Be Legit. The pardon power is not merely “broad,” it is plenary. The only limitation in the Constitution is that it may not be used to reverse an impeachment. Even the claim that a pardon may only be issued for an offense that has already been completed, made in Ex Parte Garland and Ex Parte Grossman, is only dicta. NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG: Whistleblowers: Postal Service labeled Trump mail ‘Undeliverable,’ 388,000 ballots backdated, ‘disappear.’
Several whistleblowers on Tuesday cast new uncertainty on the 2020 election process, claiming up to 288,000 ballots disappeared, another 100,000 were improperly backdated, and mail promoting President Trump was junked while mail for Joe Biden was delivered.
In the most extraordinary report, a U.S. Postal Service contractor said his trailer full of 144,000-288,000 completed mail-in ballots, which he drove between New York and Pennsylvania, disappeared after he delivered it to a Lancaster, Pennsylvania, depot.
Another claimed that ballots were backdated by postal workers, and in Traverse City, Michigan, Trump campaign mail was put in bins labeled “Undeliverable Bulk Business Mail” while the same type of mail for Joe Biden was ordered to be delivered on time.
And a third raised new issues about the integrity of Dominion voting machines.
The claims were unveiled by the Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society, which has mounted an independent investigation of voting and voter registration in several key battleground states. It recently made headlines by revealing that the FBI has requested the findings of its Voter Integrity Project.
Just scattered bits of widespread fraud, not widespread fraud that could have affected the election outcome, so nothing to be concerned about.
Progression: No voter fraud. No widespread voter fraud. Now, no widespread voter fraud that would change the outcome of the election.
Will Barr prosecute the widespread fraud that wouldn’t change the outcome of the election, or nah?
Meanwhile if, as the Associated Press flat out claims, Trump is just making up claims of fraud, shouldn’t they be in favor of a deep and far-reaching audit to show just how crazy he is?
