EX-CBS NEWS PRESIDENT TO MEDIA: Be ‘Honest’ With Your ‘Embrace of Bias.’

Sauter predicted that if Trump wins re-election, many Americans will never “put public stock in journalism it considers hostile to the country’s best interests.” Sauter quoted from Mediaite founder Dan Abrams, another attendee at the forum he attended in February, who argued that “the first thing that would help…is to admit…that the people in the media are left of center.” Agreeing with Abrams, Sauter declared that “It would be delightful if a publisher, an editor, a reporter would just say: Yes, I am left of center! I’m proud of it. I think our reporting is accurate. It best serves the public. And the credibility of the media. So there!”

Well, yes. Objectivity is a model that is decades past its freshness dating, considering we live in an era of hundreds of cable channels, and countless Websites. And the insistence of Jurassic CBS anchors as far back as Walter Cronkite and Dan Rather to pretend to be unbiased when their embrace of the left was obvious for all to see simply exacerbates the problem. The one positive benefit of Twitter is that has allowed everyone to see the biases of the people who make the sausages.

STATES DEMANDING BIGGEST BAILOUTS DO LEAST TO CONTROL DEFICITS, SPENDING: I won’t tell you the names of the three worst states, but their initials are California, Illinois and New York.

UNMASKED: MSNBC’s double-standard, elitist, mask-shaming faceplant. “It’s pretty clear that MSNBC isn’t actually interested in universal mask wearing as much as they’re into preening over their narrative of fly-over ignorance. And that’s what makes this depantsing so satisfying. The supposed hicks are a lot more on the ball than the clueless elites, and one of them in particular beats them at their own game by whipping out a camera and exposing their rules-for-thee-but-not-for-we snobbery. This doesn’t bode well for future live reports from Flyover Country. These days, everyone has a camera and the ability to report on the reporters.”

NO MORE STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT BAILOUTS: Veronique de Rugy and Ted DeHaven of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University make the case the federal government should get out of the bailout business and allow the consequences to be felt of bad decisions by state and local authorities.

JOE BIDEN HAS A NEW EXCUSE FOR HIS RACIST ‘YOU AIN’T BLACK’ COMMENT:

It wasn’t Biden’s fault! It was Charlamagne tha God’s fault! Seriously? He expects us to buy that excuse? Can’t he just accept responsibility for the fact that he exposed the Democrats’ secret that they take the black vote for granted?

As Biden would say, “Come on, man!”

To be fair, attacking journalists has always been a key element of Joe Biden’s style:

“Biden is so bad at this,” Jason Howerton of the Blaze tweets. “In no way was [Charlamagne tha God] being a ‘wise guy,’ he was being dead-serious when he told him in so many words that he would have to earn the black vote, especially given his record on criminal justice reform.”

In any case, if Biden can’t keep his cool and handle Charlamagne tha God, how can he be expected to handle ISIS or Xi?

POSSIBLY HUGE: U.S. Officially Declares That Hong Kong Is No Longer Autonomous.

The State Department has officially determined that Hong Kong is no longer autonomous from China, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a statement Wednesday that holds implications for the future of economic ties and could lead to sanctions against China.

The State Department is required by the Hong Kong Policy Act to assess the autonomy of the territory from China. It certified to Congress on Thursday that Hong Kong is no longer autonomous.

“This decision gives me no pleasure. But sound policy-making requires a recognition of reality,” Mr. Pompeo said in the statement. “It is now clear that China is modeling Hong Kong after itself.”

More to come, none of it pleasing to Beijing.
