NEWS YOU CAN USE: You Could Die Today. Here’s How to Reduce That Risk. “No one lives forever, but you can do things to extend your life for as long as possible.” Though I’d put “stay off of motorcycles” into the Captain Obvious category.

HARSH, BUT FAIR.

WAITAMINNIT, WAT? Earlier this week, Bloomberg Media announced its first acquisition in more than a decade, buying CityLab:

“An offshoot website of the Atlantic that reports on a variety of areas—development, housing, transit, the environment—from an urban policy perspective. And as part of that purchase, it appears half of the website’s editorial staff could lose their jobs.”

According to Business Insider, 7,800 journalists have lost their jobs so far this year. I thought President Trump was supposed to be Biggest Threat to the Press Ever, what with him being mean to Jim Acosta and all.

But putting reporters on the breadlines? Nahhhhhhh.

ANNALS OF LEFTIST AUTOPHAGY: TX Democratic Congressional Candidate wishes cancer on Obama and all Hell breaks loose (he deleted but we got it).

However, San Antonio’s Justin Lecea 34, a self-professed socialist, wishes that you communicate politely to him. At the top of his Twitter page, he lists his preferred pronouns: “He/They.”

Exit quote: “Y’all are defending a war criminal who was in authority during the deportation of over 3 million immigrants, continued the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, allowed the continued poisoning of citizens in places like Flint, and also recently bought an 11 million dollar home in Martha’s Vinyard, and demonstrated privilege so great that he gives zero fucks about y’all. Obama is part of the club that is going to let y’all burn in climate change. So @ me all you want I said nothing directly threatening.”

HMM: Democrats’ Election Win in Virginia Yields Gun Registration Proposal.

Virginia Democrats are proposing a mandatory state gun registration measure after widespread public outrage forced them to back off a more aggressive plan to confiscate so-called assault weapons, a designation that gun experts have long rejected as arbitrary.

Gun-control advocates call modern sporting rifles—such as the popular AR-15—assault weapons, likening them to weapons of war.

But Gov. Ralph Northam’s plan still calls for a ban on assault weapons, albeit with a grandfather clause allowing those who already own such weapons to keep them, Northam spokeswoman Alena Yarmosky said in a statement, The Daily Wire reported on Dec. 12.

The grandfather clause will apply only if the owners register their weapons with the government “before the end of a designated grace period,” Yarmosky said.

Registration now, followed by confiscation just as soon as they think they can get away with it.

PETULANCE AS A GOVERNING PHILOSOPHY: Climate Zealots, Firing Squads, And A Load Of Manure.

Even with the canonized Greta Thunberg threatening to put the world’s national leaders “against the wall” if they don’t “do their job and to protect our futures,” the principals could work out nothing more than, according to the all-in-on-the-global-warming-hysterics Guardian, “a partial agreement to ask countries to come up with more ambitious targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions in order to meet the terms of the 2015 Paris accord.”

The response from activists was predictable. They made a “really futile and stupid gesture” by dumping horse manure outside the meeting and staging a mock hanging in which one of the “condemned” held a baby while she had a rope around her neck. Reuters said these woke folk were “frustrated” by the talks. Frustrated, we’d say, in the same way a child becomes upset and throws a tantrum because he couldn’t get his way.

No one who behaves this way belongs anywhere near the levers of power.

SQUAD MEMBER MAKES SURPRISE IN-KIND CONTRIBUTION TO TRUMP 2020 CAMPAIGN: Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s [D-MA] prison plan slammed by law enforcement officials.

U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s sweeping plan to significantly cut jail and prison populations, in part by declining to prosecute numerous offenses, is drawing heat from law enforcement officials who say it would trigger more crime and is “only exacerbating problems.”

Pressley’s resolution — called “The People’s Justice Guarantee” — includes proposals that would dramatically reduce the number of people incarcerated across the country, and would encourage diversion programs. The plan also calls for declining to criminally prosecute low-level offenses associated with poverty and addiction, and ending mandatory minimum sentencing.

You went full Bane. Never go full Bane.

HE’S SUCH A LITTLE SUCK-UP: Barack Obama, On Behalf of All Men, Says to Women: ‘You’re Better Than Us.’

Plus: “Well, if this is true, I have just one question for Present Obama: Why did Past Obama prevent a woman from becoming president of the United States in 2008? If a woman had been running things between 2009-2016, according to you, the world would be much better off. So why did you screw everything up? It was her turn, and you ruined it. Now she’ll never be president, and it’s all your fault. You refused to get out of the way.”

Impeach!

BARRY SHIVS BIDEN: Barack Obama Says Most of the World’s Problems are Down to ‘Old Men Not Getting Out of the Way.’

Former President Barack Obama has said that a lot of the world’s problems come from leaders not knowing when it’s time to step down, suggesting there are a lot of “old men, not getting out of the way.”

The former commander-in-chief made the comment during a private event on leadership in Singapore, the BBC reported, during which he also discussed the benefits of women being in positions of power… He added that: “If you look at the world and look at the problems it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way.”

Well, that’s one way to undercut your former vice president, a man who is age 77 and running as your successor. And then there’s this line:

“I’m absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything…living standards and outcomes.”

Curiously, Obama and his surrogates had a very different stance during the 2008 election cycle:

Exit question: Is Barry priming the pump for Michelle to run?

ROGER SIMON: Handicapping the 2024 (!) Presidential Election.

2024? What? Don’t we have the 2020 presidential election to deal with first? Has the fat lady already sung?

Leaving aside the decidedly un-PC character of that hoary tradition (are we “fat-shaming” the electorate now?), yes, maybe she has.

What with the booming economy with lowest-ever unemployment, the utter failure of the Mueller Russia investigation (with severe punishments for the investigators themselves possibly ahead), the embarrassing, ludicrously partisan impeachment, and now, the near-total destruction of the British Labour Party (and consequently the globalist left) by Boris Johnson and the Tory Party, it certainly looks good for President Donald Trump in 2020.

Well,  I’m not going to tell Roger not to get cocky.

PHIL D’AGOSTINO: It’s not a coup. It’s a civil war.

We can define a civil war as a conflict or competition between political factions or regions within the same country to take over the reins of governance without due process. A careful look at what some call the “Deep State” would tell us we have that here in the USA. Further, we have had that state of conflict for many years.

As evidenced by the statements of many current players behind the scenes who have been actively trying to fundamentally transform America, it would seem that in the 20th century, it was determined by those committed to this transformation that the people of the USA would never willfully throw away their own freedoms and embrace some form of Marxian socialism. Therefore, in order to effect this change, there needed to be an internal use of the system itself to subvert it through legislation and regulations to become a de facto state of Marxian socialism without ever calling it such, nor voting for such.

Ever since, there have been bureaucrats and presidents who have worked against the will of the majority in order to “overthrow” the duly elected government and replace it with their own view of what the USA government “should” look like. It is a war, not a coup. They are relentless. Indefatigable. They will never stop. What we are seeing with Mr. Trump is an “Antietam” or a “Gettysburg — a bloody battlefield, but just another battlefield.

It isn’t a coup. Not soft. Not silent. And if we don’t see it as a war, we lose. Why? Because we then think it’s about Mr. Trump or his administration. It isn’t.

Endless efforts to disarm law-abiding citizens show at least one side understands this.

TAKING AWAY THEIR EXCUSE TO MEDDLE IN STUDENTS’ SEX LIVES: Ruling Narrows Title IX Obligations: Federal appeals court ruling sets narrow standard for what institutions are expected to do when students commit sexual misconduct.

An appellate court’s decision could minimize colleges and universities’ responsibility to provide remedies for victims of sexual misconduct on campus.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit ruled that Michigan State University and one of its senior administrators cannot be held liable for student victims’ emotional distress after seeing their alleged perpetrators on campus because the interactions did not lead to further sexual harassment or assault, according to an opinion issued Thursday.

Legal experts said the decision is a narrow interpretation of the protections for victims of sexual misconduct under Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits sex discrimination, including sexual assault, on college campuses.

The court’s opinion, written by Judge Alice Batchelder, could set a “very clear and straightforward standard” for how federal judges interpret whether universities showed “deliberate indifference” when addressing reports of sexual misconduct, said Jake Sapp, deputy Title IX coordinator and institutional compliance officer at Austin College, in Texas. Deliberate indifference in student-on-student sexual misconduct cases occurs when an institution causes further harassment or fails to act upon an accusation of sexual misconduct, leaving the complainant “subject to” harassment, Sapp said.

Actually, Title IX doesn’t say anything about sexual assault as sex discrimination. That’s all just part of an elaborate superstructure created by judges and bureaucrats.
