A TIME OF CHOOSING: Trump Makes the Case for Reelection: ‘Our Country is Breaking Records in Almost Every Category.’

“It will soon be time to choose to keep and build upon that prosperity and success, or let it go,” President Trump wrote. “We are respected again all around the world. Keep it that way! I said I will never let you down, and I haven’t. We will only grow bigger, better and stronger TOGETHER!”

As a sitting president, Trump has a choice for his reelection campaign:

1. He can go positive

2. He can go negative

3. He can do both

I initially thought he’d opt for the second option because it worked so well for him in 2016, but he has clearly opted for number three: touting his own positive record while blasting Democrats for being radical progressives. This approach could very well be a killer combination. The only “but” is that he will have to be smart about when to use which tactic — when to be positive and when to go negative.

The good news? It seems that this understanding comes naturally to President Trump. He may not be a career politician, but he sure as heck has a tremendous feel for when to employ different tactics.

YOUR DAILY TREACHER: Gillette Loses Billions by Shaming Men. “Advertising has been taken over by social justice warriors. If you enjoy being scolded by the people who are trying to sell you their products, feel free to spend your money as you see fit. The rest of us male chauvinist pigs will take our business elsewhere.”

Mister, we could use a man like Donald Draper again.

DEVELOPING: Rep. Elijah Cummings’ Baltimore Home Burglarized, Police Say.

UPDATE: “According to the police report, the break-in was hours before Trump’s tweet noting that Cummings’ Baltimore congressional district is a crime-infested mess. Bad news for partisans hoping to blame the break-in on Trump or pretend away Baltimore’s crime,” Sean Davis tweets.

WHY IS THE LEFT SUCH A CESSPIT OF RACISM AND VIOLENCE? Man says he was beaten in NYC for wearing MAGA hat:

A New York City art gallery owner says he was viciously beaten in Manhattan by a large group of teens for wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat.

Jahangir “John” Turan, 42, says it happened Tuesday evening on Canal Street. He was wearing the MAGA hat that he had purchased earlier in the day at Trump Tower.

INTERESTING: Anti-inflammatory biologic medications that treat psoriasis may also help to reduce coronary inflammation, and prevent heart attacks in the long run, a new study says. “The researchers noticed the biologic therapy substantially reduced coronary inflammation in patients, even those with coronary artery plaque buildup. . . . In February, another NHLBI study reported that psoriasis biologic drugs like Cimzia, Enbrel, Humira, Orencia and Remicade may reduce heart disease in patients by keeping arteries clear.”

It’s becoming increasingly clear that heart disease is an inflammatory disorder.

CYBERSECURITY: Why the Capital One breach is unlike any other major hack.

The incident involved theft of more than 100 million customer records, 140,000 Social Security numbers and 80,000 linked bank details of Capital One customers, allegedly stolen by a single insider, according to court filings in Seattle.

The details set it apart from breaches of companies like Equifax and Marriott, which were attacked from the outside by criminals with a nation-state connection. It’s also different from the spate of ransomware attacks against major U.S. cities, which were likely committed by groups of individuals outside the U.S.

Instead, according to the indictment of Paige Thompson, she was able to exploit a loophole in a Capital One cloud server’s firewall to gain access to the information.

Thompson had several social media accounts listing experience as an engineer working for Amazon. Even if Thompson was employed at Amazon, it may not have been a factor in the incident.

Amazon Web Services “was not compromised in any way and functioned as designed,” Amazon said in a statement, adding that the reason for the breach was a misconfiguration of firewall settings managed on the cloud server by Capital One, not a vulnerability in the cloud server itself.

Every one of these financial firms ought to have white-hat hackers work full-time on their IT staffs, with generous bonuses for each vulnerability found.

CHARGING YOUR LAPTOP AT MCDONALD’S IS ONE THING: Florida Man Parks His Tesla Overnight on a Stranger’s Lawn to Steal Electricity: The owner of the Tesla Model 3 used an extension cord to plug in to a complete stranger’s outlet for 12 hours. “Driving an electric car can sometimes make a calm person slide into bouts of extreme desperation. That may be the kindest way to describe why a Florida man ditched his Tesla on another person’s lawn, stole electricity from that house, and walked off to party with friends in the middle of the night. . . . Please do not be this pathetic while driving an EV.”
