HMMM: Morning Joe Panel: This ‘Is the End of Bill Clinton’s Life As a Public Figure.’
NBC reporter Craig Melvin asked Clinton if he ever apologized to Lewinsky, which led Clinton to become defensive and talk about how he paid a steep cost for his actions. Clinton and Lewinsky, then a White House intern 27 years his junior, had a series of sexual encounters between 1995 and 1997, culminating in a political scandal that rocked the administration.
“And so what you saw there, I think is the end of Bill Clinton’s life as a public figure in this country,” MSNBC political commentator Steve Schmidt said. “Because of that interview I don’t think he’s campaigning anywhere ever again unless he can clean it up and fix it pretty quickly.”
Anchor Joe Scarborough said if Clinton wants to be on the campaign trail in 2018, he will need to take responsibility for his actions.
“If he wants to go out and campaign in 2018 which he should, do you own up to the fact that Monica Lewinsky’s life has been ruined. That you still have Juanita Broaddrick suffering what she went through,” Scarborough said.
In response to Clinton’s meltdown, Broaddrick tweeted, “WHY Doesn’t any reporter have the guts to ask about Bill Clinton about the sexual assaults and rape???….Monica was Consensual!!!”
“It’s an entirely fair question,” John Sexton writes at Hot Air. “CNN and other networks are happy to devote hours a day to Stormy Daniels but Juanita Broaddrick’s credible allegations of rape never come up. Bill Clinton can still go on a book tour without fear of being asked about the darkest chapter of his personal history. Why is that?”
Just think of the media as Democratic operatives with Chyrons, and it all makes sense.

● Hangover:
Watching both the health care and climate/energy debates in Congress, it is hard not to draw the following conclusion: There is only one thing worse than one-party autocracy, and that is one-party democracy, which is what we have in America today.
One-party autocracy certainly has its drawbacks. But when it is led by a reasonably enlightened group of people, as China is today, it can also have great advantages. That one party can just impose the politically difficult but critically important policies needed to move a society forward in the 21st century. It is not an accident that China is committed to overtaking us in electric cars, solar power, energy efficiency, batteries, nuclear power and wind power. China’s leaders understand that in a world of exploding populations and rising emerging-market middle classes, demand for clean power and energy efficiency is going to soar. Beijing wants to make sure that it owns that industry and is ordering the policies to do that, including boosting gasoline prices, from the top down.

I’m happy to see the left rediscover Constitutional checks and balances, which only seems to happen when the president has an (R) after his name. Or as Glenn wrote in 2016, “if you favor liberty then the President should be a white, male Republican. Because then the Deep State will keep him in check.”
Neither Reid nor MSNBC addressed on Friday the fact that Reid once claimed to have definitive evidence that she had been hacked. After Reid’s claims fell apart under scrutiny, she admitted on April 25 that she didn’t actually have any evidence of hacking. (RELATED: Joy Reid’s Hacking Story Filled With Holes)
MSNBC did not return an inquiry from TheDCNF over the weekend asking whether the network believed Reid intentionally misled the public when she claimed to have evidence of hacking (which she didn’t have).
The network also didn’t answer a question on what effect Reid’s apparent misleading of the public might have on the host’s credibility.
Multiple panelists on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” on Sunday chastised Reid and MSNBC over their handling of the hacking controversy.
