YEAH, PRETTY MUCH: John Hinderaker: It’s Official: Google Is a Democratic Party Front.

Someone leaked to Breitbart an hour-long video of an “all hands” Google meeting that was held just after the 2016 election. The video features Google’s co-founder, Sergei Brin, its CEO, Sundar Pichai, and numerous other high-ranking “Googlers” speaking in turn about the election’s tragic outcome. It is stunning.

All of the speakers express grief over Donald Trump’s election. All of the speakers assume that every Google employee is a Democrat and is stunned and horrified that Hillary Clinton–the worst and most corrupt presidential candidate in modern history–lost. There is much discussion about what Google can do to reverse the benighted world-wide tide exemplified by Brexit and Trump’s election. The insane doctrine of “white privilege” rears its head.

You really have to see it to believe it. Having suffered through the hour-long cri de cœur–OK, to be fair, there is a huge element of schadenfreude, too, and you will relish much of it–you probably will have several reactions: 1) These people may have certain valuable technical skills, but they aren’t very bright and are unusually lacking in self-awareness. 2) It is remarkable that they can achieve such an extraordinary monoculture in an organization with thousands of employees. It must require vigorous enforcement of right-think. 3) It is easy to see how these uniformly left-wing robots/people seamlessly transitioned into Resisting the duly elected Trump administration.

Break them up.

THIS MAY BE THE SINGLE DUMBEST CONTROVERSY OF THE TRUMP ADMINISTRATION: Eric Trump, a Gentile, accuses another Gentile, Bob Woodward,  of earning “extra shekels,” in a context having nothing to do with Jews or Israel. This is somehow deemed to be anti-Semitic. Yet if you Google “extra shekels,” as I did, you see the term in occasional use, and not by anti-Semites, at least not in the first 70 or so results that I perused. No matter how one feels about Trump and his family, this desperate need by some to depict them as anti-Semites based on the flimsiest of evidence is just that, desperate.

SEE? SOCIALISM WORKS! It’s magic! Material goods just appear out of thin air!

OPEN THREAD: Make this one special.

YOUR DAILY TREACHER: We Must Destroy Norm Macdonald for Refusing to Join Our Outrage Mob.

Related: At Ricochet, Jon Gabriel explores “the Fatal Flaw in the New Morality:”

Norm quickly apologized on Twitter, which only encouraged the professionally offended. The online mob, however, ignored the most interesting part of the interview, which helped prove MacDonald main point.

The interviewer asked how we should treat people when they admit to screwing up. Here’s MacDonald’s answer:

The model used to be: admit wrongdoing, show complete contrition and then we give you a second chance. Now it’s admit wrongdoing and you’re finished. And so the only way to survive is to deny, deny, deny. That’s not healthy — that there is no forgiveness. I do think that at some point it will end with a completely innocent person of prominence sticking a gun in his head and ending it. That’s my guess.

By mentioning forgiveness, MacDonald reveals the biggest flaw in our new woke morality. The Church of Social Justice has more rules than a monastery during Lent and the list grows daily. But unlike traditional morality, there is no path to redemption.

For those celebrities who aren’t literally facing police investigations and/or trials such as Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby, do the Twitter mobs believe they can banish the new daily History’s Greatest Monster into the cornfield forever?

WORST COLLEGE MAJOR EVER?: Beloit College, “Critical Identity Studies.”

Combining a variety of academic disciplines (gender and women’s studies, ethnic studies, queer studies, disability studies, postcolonial studies), Critical Identity Studies (CRIS) investigates the ways identities are shaped within structures of inequality and through systems and practices of power and resistance.

From the introductory course, “Sex and Power,” to the advanced theoretical courses which include “Whiteness,” “Masculinities,” “Gender Bending,” “Race and Culture,” “Feminism and Politics,” “‘Black Lives Matter,” and “Thinking Queerly,” CRIS courses are always interdisciplinary, intersectional, and oriented toward social justice.

Annual “direct cost” of attending Beloit College: $58,870

ECONOMIC WARFARE: California tells NRA to stop selling insurance policy. “California has ordered the National Rifle Association to stop selling an insurance policy that covers legal costs for injury or damage from legally using a gun. . . . The order refers to the Self-Defense Insurance Policy included in the NRA’s Carry Guard membership program. The policy covers some legal costs from criminal cases or lawsuits that arise when a gun is used for self-defense, recreation, hunting, or when a weapon fires accidentally.”

ADVICE FOR TRUMP: “Don’t let Florence Katrina you. Show how to do a disaster right. Bush went from high to low because of Katrina and how his antagonists weaponized it. You can do the opposite. And who doesn’t want Trump to find great success in meeting the challenge of a great natural disaster? No one will step up and say, yes, that’s me, I want him to fail miserably, so we can crush him like Bush.”

Yes, it’s true – very few will openly say it. But as Mickey Kaus wrote at the height of the media pummeling Bush over Katrina, “Katrina gives them a way to talk about Iraq without talking about Iraq. No wonder Gwen Ifill smiles the ‘inner smile.’” It was a stepping stone for the left to win back the House and Senate in 2006. But as Donna Brazile, then vice-chair of the DNC finally admitted in 2013 at CNN.com, “Bush came through on Katrina.”

IT’S SATIRE, BUT IS IT REALLY? Washington Post Fact-Checker Dies in Darkness: “The publisher said Glenn Kessler may stay on payroll to head up the new ‘My Truth’ bureau.”

Heh, indeed.™ The headline and quote above is from Scott Ott’s long-running ScrappleFace blog. The following is from the Post itself:

Democracy dies in intersectionality.

IT’S ALWAYS NICE TO MAKE TWITCHY.
