President Trump appears to have undertaken a revolution in Middle Eastern diplomacy. Reportedly, the United States will eliminate refugee status for the descendants of Palestinian refugees of 1948, the only group of people anywhere in the world to inherit refugee status. The U.S. also reportedly will eliminate funding for UNRWA, the only UN agency dedicated to a single group of refugees, namely the Palestinian Arabs. . . .
The 1948 War led to one of the many exchanges of populations during the 20th century — 1.5 million Greeks were expelled from Turkey and 1 million Turks expelled from Greece in 1923, for example. After World War II, 12 million Germans were expelled from the Czech Republic, Poland, and other parts of Eastern Europe, many of whom had lived there for centuries. Millions of Hindus and Muslims moved across the border when Pakistan separated from India upon independence in 1947. None of the transferred populations are treated as refugees, except for the Palestinians.
Well, it’s different when there are Jews involved.

Scientists at the Salk Institute found that mice lacking the biological clocks thought to be necessary for a healthy metabolism could still be protected against obesity and metabolic diseases by having their daily access to food restricted to a 10-hour window.
The work, which appeared in the journal Cell Metabolism on August 30, 2018, suggests that the health problems associated with disruptions to animals’ 24-hour rhythms of activity and rest—which in humans is linked to eating for most of the day or doing shift work—can be corrected by eating all calories within a 10-hour window.
“For many of us, the day begins with a cup of coffee first thing in the morning and ends with a bedtime snack 14 or 15 hours later,” says Satchidananda Panda, a professor in Salk’s Regulatory Biology Laboratory and the senior author of the new paper. “But restricting food intake to 10 hours a day, and fasting the rest, can lead to better health, regardless of our biological clock.”

CALIFORNIA ROAD WORKERS ACCUSED OF STOPPING TRAFFIC TO PASS OUT ANTI-GAS TAX REPEAL FLYERS:
A video taken Tuesday of the incident along State highway 78 in San Diego County shows a Caltrans contracted worker responding to a driver’s questions about why he and other workers are stopping traffic with hand-held stop signs and approaching cars to hand-out a “No on Prop 6” flyer.
“Hi, what do you got there?” the driver asks.
“Flyers to let you know about that proposition,” a worker in a hard-hat, orange shirt, and reflective vest responds.
Pressed further, the worker then goes on to say that he and others passing out the flyers are “working with Caltrans” and “they just told me to hand it out.”
The workers handing out the flyers appear to be employed by Manhole Adjusting Inc., which was awarded a Caltrans contract to perform work along the stretch of roadway during the summer and fall months.
Carl DeMaio, who is leading the repeal campaign, said Caltrans, the state’s transportation department, was involved in the effort from the video footage and photos taken of road workers passing out the leaflets.
“This proves once again that Caltrans simply cannot be trusted to what is right with our gas-tax funds—they literally are using gas tax funds to support the distribution of campaign materials to raise the gas tax on working families,” DeMaio said.

The level to which some members of the media would go in order to excuse or explain away the reprehensible conduct of Ted Kennedy still amazes. On August 27, 2009, journalist Melissa Lafsky, who at one time worked for the New York Times’s Freakonomics blog, wrote this about Mary Jo Kopechne, a woman Kennedy left to drown in 1969:
Mary Jo wasn’t a right-wing talking point or a negative campaign slogan…. We don’t know how much Kennedy was affected by her death, or what she’d have thought about arguably being a catalyst for the most successful Senate career in history…. [One wonders what] Mary Jo Kopechne would have had to say about Ted’s death, and what she’d have thought of the life and career that are being (rightfully) heralded. Who knows — maybe she’d feel it was worth it.

THE DEMS, THE LEFT AND THE BLACK COMMUNITY HAVE A FARRAKHAN PROBLEM:
Why was Louis Farrakhan, the racist leader of the Nation of Islam, which even most of the left will acknowledge is a racist hate group, a few steps away from Bill Clinton, front and center, at Aretha Franklin’s funeral?
The same reason he was at a Congressional Black Caucus meeting smiling with Obama.
The same reason top Black Lives Matter and Women’s March figures either praise him or refuse to disavow him.
Farrakhan is a racist and an anti-Semite. He has praised Hitler, suggested that Jews were using pot to make black men gay, and spewed every possible hateful and ugly thing that the left claims to disavow. But while he may in theory be unacceptable in society, he is a major and mainstream figure within the black community. That’s why scenes like these keep playing out.

With the fall of communism and the awareness of the extent of the communist mass murder (about 100 million noncombatants) and mass enslavement (virtually all individuals in communist countries — except for Communist Party leaders — are essentially enslaved), communism, or at least the word “communism,” fell into disrepute.
So, what were secular intellectuals to do once communism became “the god that failed”?
The answer was to create other another left-wing secular religion. And that is what leftism is: a secular meaning-giver to supplant Christianity. Left-wing religious expressions include Marxism, communism, socialism, feminism and environmentalism.
And as with previous socialist enterprises (national or international), it’s often a rather violent religion, as Lionel Shriver writes in the London Spectator: “I don’t buy into the notion that the ‘snowflake’ generation is all that sensitive, either. Antifa protestors in balaclavas can be quite violent for little specks that melt. ‘Snowflakes’ may have induced institutions to employ the language of fragility, but I think a lot of these kids are tough as old boots.”
