FIVE CAN’T-MISS HILLARY EMAILS FROM NEW BATCH: “And, as we see, Ben Affleck was able to contact Hillary directly (as we learned in the recent Benghazi hearing, U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens did not have her contact info).”

As Stephen Miller tweets, the ad writes itself, doesn’t it?

ASHE SCHOW: Claire McCaskill’s Crazy Scheme: Can colleges adjudicate gun crimes as they would campus sexual assault?

In a statement that is truly baffling and frightening, Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., implied that colleges and universities can adjudicate gun crimes just as they adjudicate campus sexual assault.

Speaking on an Oct. 29 press call regarding national fraternity and sorority groups’ support of a bill that would put sexual assault crimes back in the hands of law enforcement, McCaskill implied that the groups were singling out sex assault.

“Keep in mind, they have only carved out this exception for sexual assault – not any of the other violent crimes,” McCaskill said, according to a transcription by the Huffington Post. “So a young woman could be robbed at gunpoint, decide she wanted to just try to get that person off campus and go to their university … but if she was raped, she would not be able to do that unless she went to the police.”

Slate quoted the senator as saying the woman robbed at gunpoint could “go to her university and they could take action under Title IX.”

Neither Slate nor HuffPo questioned the senator’s comments or explained them in any way.

Because what Sen. McCaskill appears to be suggesting is that colleges really are their own court system, adjudicating gun crimes the way they adjudicate sexual assault – and that the anti-gender discrimination law known as Title IX requires them to do so. Colleges and universities are required to adjudicate accusations of sexual assault and sexual harassment because of Title IX. The argument goes that these are gender-specific crimes and are therefore a form of gender discrimination.

That’s a stretch unto itself, as it implies that sexual preference is discrimination. It’s also problematic because schools are still required to adjudicate accusations of sexual assault when both parties involved are the same gender.

But even that is more plausible (the notion that sex crimes are a form of sex discrimination) than suggesting a robbery at gunpoint is a form of sex discrimination, even if the robber is a man and the victim is a woman. Even the Violence Against Women Act doesn’t include robbery in its list of crimes against women. . . .

The claims being made to sell the public on the need to create a kangaroo court system to provide separate justice for privileged college students are astounding.

Having ruined the regular criminal justice system, Democrats are now trying to set up a new, more protective, one for the enclaves they control.

NOT AN OXYMORON: BEN CARSON, BLACK CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN: “One would think that, in a sane world, the fact that Carson is black and is one of the GOP leaders would make liberal pundits admit that GOP voters must not be as bigoted as the MSM and the Democrats previously thought (or previously claimed) they were. Now, that’s a story. But it isn’t a story you’ll hear much about. In fact, the leftist line about Carson and bigotry is that Carson is a bigot for criticizing Muslims who want sharia law.”

But then Sharia trumping gay rights is perhaps the strangest formulation of the left’s divide-and-conquer identity politics hierarchy.

KURT SCHLICHTER: LIBERALS ARE ‘GUNLIGHTING’ WHEN THEY SAY THEY DON’T WANT YOUR GUNS:

You’re not crazy for thinking that everything liberals say about guns is a lie. You’re not crazy when you see Obama and Hillary say they support the Second Amendment out of one side of their mouths and that they support the Australian option out of the other. This talk of Australia is code, a dog whistle that signals to their core followers their long-term goal, that pokes at us free Americans in the hopes we overreact, and that sails over the heads of many Americans who aren’t paying attention yet. You know no mainstream media hack will ever call them on it, so it’s up to us.

Gaslighting. It’s what the left does best.

SPENGLER ON HENRY KISSINGER AND “BALANCE OF POWER — THE BOARD GAME:”

Kissinger’s current recommendations for the Middle East, outlined in an Oct. 16 essay in the Wall Street Journal, treat the region’s players as if they were fixed entities that can be manipulated into a stable balance of power. It is obvious, though, that nothing is fixed about these entities, and this leads Kissinger to torture logic until it expires on the rack. Here for example is a characterization of Iran: “On one level, Iran acts as a legitimate Westphalian state conducting traditional diplomacy, even invoking the safeguards of the international system. At the same time, it organizes and guides nonstate actors seeking regional hegemony based on jihadist principles….The U.S. should be prepared for a dialogue with an Iran returning to its role as a Westphalian state within its established borders.”

One can imagine Iran’s supreme leader attempting to parse Kissinger’s logic: “Westphalian? What is ‘Westphalian?’ I have Googled it, and behold!, it is a kind of ham! The infidel Kissinger likens us to pork!” Iran perhaps the least Westphalian political entity on the planet. It is not a nation-state in any sense of the term but the rump of a collapsed empire, in which Persians comprise barely half of the population, with “Azerbaijanis (16–25+%), Kurds (7–10%), Lurs (c. 7%),  Mazandaranis and Gilakis (c. 7%), Arabs (2–3%), Balochi (c. 2%) Turkmens (c. 2%)” making up the rest, according to Wikipedia. Shi’ite messianism and attendant imperial ambitions are its raison d’etre. It is like saying, “Excuse me, Mr. Hyde, but is Dr. Jeykll at home?”

And about what should the United States engage Iran in its “Westphalian” incarnation? “It is preferable for ISIS-held territory to be reconquered either by moderate Sunni forces or outside powers than by Iranian jihadist or imperial forces.” If we had some Westphalian ham, we could have ham-and-eggs, if we had some eggs: if we had “moderate Sunni forces” we could persuade the “Westphalian” Iran to withdraw the “jihadist or imperial” Iran to acquiesce in the reconquest of ISIS-held territories by Sunnis. Then “The reconquered territories should be restored to the local Sunni rule that existed there before the disintegration of both Iraqi and Syrian sovereignty.” Someone should break the news to Dr. Kissinger that Saddam Hussein is dead and that the previous Sunni regime is not available.

ROLL CALL: Democrats Would Stop a Rider-Riddled Omnibus.

Democrats on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue are prepared to unite again and protect the Obama administration’s agenda in the December spending debate.

That was the message from Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid as the bipartisan budget deal heads to the White House. The Nevada Democrat told CQ Roll Call he has some advice for House Appropriations Chairman Harold Rogers, R-Ky., and other appropriators about how to draft an omnibus.

“The president, Pelosi, Reid, my entire caucus has agreed to hold hands. We are not going to approve anything that has all these ideological, short-sighted, crazy ideas; to do away with women’s health, to do away with clean air, to attack Dodd-Frank and all these,” Reid said. “We’re not going to do that. We’re going to stick to that.”

Reid’s comments came in a wide-ranging interview Wednesday in his Capitol office.

Don’t do an omnibus. Fund departments individually. Put the riders on funding for Obama constituencies: Let him veto and shut down the Department of Education if he wants. Who cares?

BERNIE SANDERS IS THE MOST PROMINENT CONSPIRACY THEORIST IN AMERICA, Rich Lowry writes at the Politico:

He runs around the country alleging that the economy is “rigged” — a term borrowed from Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren — by what he calls “the billionaire class.”

Sanders doesn’t mean this metaphorically. It’s not a poetic exaggeration. He’s dead serious. As he put it in his speech at Liberty University a couple of months ago, our economy is “designed by the wealthiest people in this country to benefit the wealthiest people in this country at the expense of everybody else.”

Designed. Per Sanders, the wealthy have built and maintained a self-serving system of income inequality at the cost of the 99 percent. As he has put it: “This is a rigged economy — heads they win, tails you lose.”

But when will he start attacking President Goldman Sachs by name, and his would-be successor?

LUCKILY, THE IRS IS TOTALLY NOT POLITICIZED AND WOULD NEVER ABUSE ITS POWER: Senators demand answers about IRS use of secret cellphone tracking systems. “Two top senators are probing use by the Internal Revenue Service of secret cellphone tracking systems that are more often utilized by federal or local law enforcement agencies. IRS Commissioner John Koskinen admitted this week that the agency does use the technology, known as cell-site simulators, or StingRays.”

ANALYSIS: TRUE. Obama to Boehner: ‘Man, I’m gonna miss you.’

President Barack Obama placed a call to Sen. John Boehner on his penultimate day as Speaker, telling the Ohio Republican he was sorry to see him go.

“He said, ‘Boehner, man, I’m gonna miss you,’ ” Boehner recalled in an interview broadcast Friday on Fox News.

“Yes you are Mr. President. Yes you are,” Boehner replied.

Enjoy your retirement, John.
