IN OVER HIS HEAD: National Journal: Paris and the Press Put Obama on the Defensive: The president spent Monday’s press conference repeatedly making the same arguments in response to tough questions. And showing passion only when he started attacking Republicans. “There were 11 questions asked, but they all boiled down to two: Why did you underestimate the potency of the Islamic terrorists who seized so much territory in Iraq and Syria and struck in Paris with such brutality? And why isn’t your strategy working?”

OBAMA AND THE OFFICE OF THE PETULANCY: “ISIS might be responsible for setbacks,” Jon Gabriel writes at Ricochet, “but only Republicans cause Obama shame.”
Petulant President Obama is really only truly at war with the latter agency.
DOCUMENTARIES ARE USUALLY PROPAGANDA. A Smoking-Gun E-mail Exposes the Bias of The Hunting Ground.
The Herdy e-mail, sent to Kinsman’s then-lawyer, included this assurance: “We don’t operate the same way as journalists — this is a film project very much in the corner of advocacy for victims, so there would be no insensitive questions or the need to get the perpetrator’s side” (emphasis added).
This e-mail appears directly contrary to claims by both Dick and CNN — which calls itself “the most trusted name in news” — that this is an accurate, balanced documentary, fair to both sides of every story. While calling himself “both an activist and a filmmaker,” Dick stressed in a typical promotional interview that “for us first is accuracy.” Jeff Zucker, president of CNN Worldwide, let slip the network’s own bias at the Sundance premiere, where he brushed aside anticipated criticism of the film by universities — which it smears as covering up for rapists — by saying that “they are on the wrong side.”
It’s Potemkin networks all the way down.

BARTLEBY THE PRESIDENT: He Would Prefer Not To.
CHRIS MATTHEWS: FDR Didn’t Blame Catholics for Mussolini, So Don’t Blame Islam:
Just a little difference: Italian fascism had no ideological affinity with Catholicism. To the contrary, it was rooted in notions of the revival of the Roman Empire of the Caesars. In contrast, you can’t spell ISIS without “Islamic.” To say that we are at war with radical Islam is simply to acknowledge the manifest truth. For Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to deny it is dangerous.
And at the dawn of the New Deal, the Roosevelt administration and il Duce had something of a socialist mutual admiration society:
Mussolini, who did not allow his work as dictator to interrupt his prolific journalism, wrote a glowing review of Roosevelt’s Looking Forward. He found “reminiscent of fascism … the principle that the state no longer leaves the economy to its own devices”; and, in another review, this time of Henry Wallace’s New Frontiers, Il Duce found the Secretary of Agriculture’s program similar to his own corporativism (pp. 23-24).
Roosevelt never had much use for Hitler, but Mussolini was another matter. “‘I don’t mind telling you in confidence,’ FDR remarked to a White House correspondent, ‘that I am keeping in fairly close touch with that admirable Italian gentleman'” (p. 31). Rexford Tugwell, a leading adviser to the president, had difficulty containing his enthusiasm for Mussolini’s program to modernize Italy: “It’s the cleanest … most efficiently operating piece of social machinery I’ve ever seen. It makes me envious” (p. 32, quoting Tugwell).
But other than that, totally nailed it once again, Chris.
SEE, THIS IS WHEN YOU USE A MOVEMENT AS AN EXCUSE TO BE A MOB: #BlackLivesMatter Protesters Disrupt Students in Library: ‘F*ck You, You Filthy White F*cks!’
Protesters at Dartmouth University disrupted students studying in the library, reportedly directing profanity towards white students and physically pushing others.
In a critical editorial, the conservative Dartmouth Review listed some of the epithets hurled by the protesters: “Fuck you, you filthy white fucks!” “Fuck you and your comfort!” “Fuck you, you racist shits!”
In addition, the Review reports that some of protesters became physically violent: “Men and women alike were pushed and shoved by the group. ‘If we can’t have it, shut it down!’ they cried. Another woman was pinned to a wall by protesters who unleashed their insults, shouting ‘filthy white bitch!’ in her face.”
Campus Reform managed to obtain video showing the protesters walking through the library shouting as others try to study. One of the protesters can be seen flipping off the cameraman. Another gets in the face of those who are studying demanding they say that black lives matter.
One of the protesters posted online, saying they were ashamed of what the protest turned into. “After making a girl cry, a protester screamed ‘Fuck your white tears,’” he reports. “I was startled by the aggression from a small minority of students towards students in the library, many of whom were supporters of the movement.”
“Were” perhaps being the operative word. And you should be ashamed. This is awful behavior.

TO BE FAIR, THAT’S RATIONAL BEHAVIOR: After Low Ratings, Dems Accused of ‘Hiding’ Debate.
ANDREW KLAVAN: “Just the other day, I was holding my breath waiting for the Million Muslim March of Muslim people protesting the Islamic terrorism around the world… but I must’ve passed out since that’s the last thing I remember.”
As Brigitte Gabriel brilliantly stated last year, the peaceful majority has always been irrelevant in the face of a totalitarian core:

ROBERT OSCAR LOPEZ: I am the sort of person that campus minority protesters at both Yale and Mizzou seem to be demanding more of. But I’m also under attack from the PC police. “With me there’s always a catch, a rub, a wild card factor. Although I embody everything social justice warriors claim to fight for, I also inherited from my left-wing lesbian mother a dogged refusal to dissemble. I am what I am, and I don’t like closets, masks, or phony avatars. I’m conservative through and through. I can’t pretend to be anything else. The world doesn’t know what to do with that.”
WHY PARIS IS DOOMED, IN ONE IMAGE: “Outside the Jewish-owned Bataclan, this guy a) played ‘Imagine’ on a piano with b) a peace sign on it which he’d transported to the site c) on a bicycle.”
“Imagine there’s no countries…,” Mark Steyn writes in response. “Keep this up and there won’t be.”
THE DANGER OF A BEER BELLY: “It has been known for some time that having an ‘apple’ shape increases the risk for disease and death. But the new study found that a man of normal B.M.I. with an abnormally large belly has an 87 percent higher risk for death than a man with the same B.M.I. but a normal waist-to-hip ratio. Pot-bellied women of normal B.M.I. have a 48 percent higher risk than women with normal B.M.I. and normal belly fat. . . . The study, in Annals of Internal Medicine, found that people with normal weight and central obesity have worse long-term survival than anyone of any weight with normal fat distribution. For example, compared with an overweight or obese man with normal waist-to-hip ratio, men of normal weight with central obesity were at more than twice the risk for death, which may help to explain the ‘obesity paradox,’ in which obesity seems to protect against heart disease in some people. . . . Having a normal weight is not enough. It’s good only if the distribution of fat is healthy.”
CERTAINTY VANISHES: Tim Blair spots the French breaking out the airbrushes. “The original September 14 headline: ‘Refugees: the fantasy of terrorist infiltration.’ The new headline, on a story still datelined September 14, now asks: ‘Terrorists among the migrants?’” Click over for the screenshots.
THE END OF THE EUROPEAN FANTASY: “The seventh century lashes out at the 21st. Result, misery,” Michael Walsh writes. “The ‘idea of Europe’ was always a postwar fantasy, a Euro-Disney of unreality that could not survive first contact with a dedicated and implacable foe.”
TRANSPHOBIC? CBS NEWS BOSS DENIES DEM DEBATE TICKET TO CAITLYN JENNER.
A WAR ABOUT NOTHING: “If the 21st century has a big question, it was asked on September 11, 2001. That question is: Can the West coexist with radical Islam, or in the worst case even with Islam at all?”, Stephen Green writes. “After Friday’s attacks in Paris, the only two qualities we should look for in our next president are audacity and ruthlessness. All the rest is fluff and must be cast aside before our Age of Seinfeld becomes our children’s Age of Slaughter.”
HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: The High Cost Of Room And Board.
If I recommended that people take out loans to pay for several years of food and rent expenses that they otherwise couldn’t afford, you’d probably think I was being foolish.
And yet that is exactly what students — and their parents — are encouraged to do when they borrow for room and board in order to have the “full college experience.” Many colleges and universities require freshmen to live on campus, knowing that many will have to borrow to do so.
It’s like they aren’t concerned about students’ future financial wellbeing.
