No Jewish People Without Israel. Something to ponder as Israel becomes just “one of our allies in the region” to the current administration.

WALTER RUSSELL MEAD: Obama’s War On The Young.

The blue social model is eating its young with the active help of President Obama’s Department of Education. More specifically, two generations of student debtors are being hounded and harassed by President Obama’s hired debt collectors because a bad federal program and a dysfunctional higher ed machine (with an assist in many cases from poor choices by immature young people) have locked them into a lifetime of debt peonage.

The federal government that Democrats like to portray as the friend of the friendless, the hope of the poor, the light of the world and the most generous uncle that ever lived has turned into the most inexorable, hard hearted and relentless debt collector in the nation, hounding a generation of students literally into their graves over loans they will never be able to pay and which they cannot escape. Using techniques that are banned by law when it comes to private debt collection agencies, the federal government is exempt from statutes of limitations and bankruptcy rulings and can garnish Social Security checks and disability payments. Yes, handicapped, disabled people can have their meager checks cut to satisfy student loan debt on jobs their disabilities now make it impossible to do.

The state is not your friend.

ARE WE LOOKING AT THE END OF THE BILLABLE HOUR? I dunno, but the chick in the video looks a bit like Sarah Palin.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT YESTERDAY: In my USA Today column, I talk with Green Party Presidential candidate Jill Stein. “Provocative stuff, but she’s not attracting much coverage. Even Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson— in no danger of overexposure — is drawing much more press attention than she is. Stein puts that down to fear that if she got more attention, her candidacy would pull votes from the clear favorite in the race for many in the press, President Obama.”

CRITICAL LEGAL STUDIES (CLS), WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION, AND HATRED OF THE CONSTITUTION:  Here’s a great essay by Paul Roderick Gregory at Forbes.com about the wealth redistribution agenda of progressives–the legal iteration of which is embodied in Critical Legal Studies–and its worldview that the U.S. Constitution is inherently “flawed” because it doesn’t protect “positive” rights that redistribute wealth, such as health care, housing, education and economic security.  Oh, and BTW:  The old USSR constitution contained these juicy “positive rights.”  Yeah, er, um…. THAT worked!

OH, THAT LEGACY MEDIA:

Stefanie Cutrona is a student in her third week at Red River College’s Creative Communications program. She stepped up when somebody at the FP thought it would be a great idea to ask what students looking to enter the profession thought when they saw newspapers laying off their youngest staffers. It was a great idea.
But 19-year-old Stefanie never imagined the backlash that would be unleashed when she gave her honest opinion. She still may not realize that it all stemmed from her very first sentence: “I don’t read the paper.”

Read the whole thing — on whatever electronic device you use to get your news and opinions. And note the conclusion:

“These layoffs only further reinforce the sentiment that journalism is a dying profession, instead of reinforcing what it should be: that it is an evolving one.” wrote Stefanie Cutrona.
What will that evolution look like?
Perhaps the answer lies with one of Canada’s most famous thinkers, a media philosopher with a Winnipeg connection. None other than Marshall McLuhan.
Not his most famous dictum, that “the medium is the message.”

But his other observation which we paraphrase as “when one technology supercedes another, the older technology becomes an art form.”

It’s not a coincidence that newspapers already have their own museum/mausoleum in which to be entombed.

WATCHDOG.ORG SEES TROUBLE AHEAD for the re-election campaign of Sen. Jon Tester, D-MT, in a new Mason-Dixon poll that shows him trailing Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-MT

OHIO: Obama and Romney Neck in Neck in OH Poll… WITH D+10 SAMPLE.

Plus this from Stacy McCain:

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus just held an impromptu press gaggle and said, “We’re going to outspend the DNC 10-to-1 for the next six weeks.” Asked about polls showing Romney-Ryan trailing in Ohio, Priebus said “we’re within a field goal and we’re going to crush [the Democrats] on the ground.”

Oh noes! Eliminationist rhetoric from the RNC chairman! Somebody send smelling salts to Paul Krugman.

$57K TO SEND ONE BUREAUCRAT TO A CONFERENCE ACROSS TOWN? Even worse, according to The Washington Examiner’s Mark Flatten, USDA refuses to explain why.

WHO’S AFRAID OF AYN RAND?  Paul Ryan, apparently.  He’s now back-walking some of his 2005 remarks to the Atlas Society about Social Security and Medicare.  Who wants to bet all these progressives who shudder at the mention of Rand have never read any of her work?  LOL.
