WHY IS THE WHITE HOUSE silent on Fannie / Freddie bonuses? “Barack Obama has exhorted supporters to object to large bonus payouts at financial institutions that took TARB bailout money. The House Oversight Committee and its chair, Rep. Darrell Issa, want to know why Obama hasn’t objected to the ridiculous levels of compensation at the two largest bailout recipients — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. In a new report (embedded below) titled ‘Government-Sponsored Moguls: Executive Compensation at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac,’ Issa and the Oversight Committee detail executive compensation at the two GSEs, who — unlike their private-sector counterparts who have either fully repaid or are in the process of repaying their bailout funds — still demand more bailout money from Congress.” Plus, an ad using Obama’s own words to underscore his hypocrisy:

It’s like a commercial for Iain Murray’s book!

PROBLEMS WITH COUNTING magnetic cows. “Others have also had a look at the work that both teams did and have done some looking of their own, and most apparently, at least at this point, are siding with the first team, saying that there does indeed seem to be some evidence that shows that cows, for whatever reason, do indeed tend to align themselves with the Earth’s magnetic field lines.”

AN INTERESTING QUESTION ON THE KEYSTONE PIPELINE from one of my regular emailers: “Did the Administration punt on Keystone because there are more Solyndras out there dependent on high oil prices and Alberta oil threatens to lower the price enough to put more of them out of business? The GOP should be jumping on this.”

HOW TO GET A JOB if you’re a twentysomething woman. “If you are a young woman starting out in your career and you only take away one thing from this, let it be this: Most of the job advice you are getting is horrible. It’s about what to put in your resume and how to use LinkedIn, what to wear to an interview and what some woman in her fifties did to become CEO, and how you should go back to school and why you should do whatever everyone else does. This is terrible advice.”

WALTER RUSSELL MEAD: ObamaCare killing small medical practices. “Is this what the social engineers who redesigned the American health care system really wanted to do? Is big better in health care, and is bigger still better still? If the Times is right, so far the principal effect of the plan has been to accelerate the decline of family doctors and small medical practices in favor of larger, bureaucratic health care providers along the lines of HMOs.”

FRANK J. FLEMING TAKES ON the biggest “Fat Cat” of all: Uncle Sam.

It wouldn’t be so bad if Uncle Sam earned his money, but he doesn’t. He’s never produced anything — he gets all his money through deception.

For instance, he said he was going to provide retirement savings for everyone, but the whole thing is a Ponzi scheme in which Uncle Sam constantly raids the funds while giving people a horrible return on their investments. He’s bilked people out of trillions with that scam; Bernie Madoff is a shoplifter by comparison.

He’s always looking for more ways to scam people, hiding fees everywhere. He even grabs money out of our paychecks and then gives us a small fraction back once a year as a “rebate” and expects us to be grateful.

You almost have to admire his shamelessness; he mugs you and expects you to thank him because he gave you back a dollar.

Uncle Sam has absolutely no appreciation for his unearned wealth and just spends it lavishly and pointlessly. A while back, people were criticizing how much he was spending on public-radio stations no one listens to, and his defense was that it was only $100 million. Only $100 million. Can you even imagine being so wealthy that $100 million is an inconsequential sum?

This guy is completely disconnected from the financial reality we’re all in. Unlike responsible rich people who have savings and investments, Uncle Sam is hugely in debt. No matter how much money he has, Princess Sam thinks he deserves to spend more.

Read the whole thing. It’s like he’s channeling Iain Murray or something.

IDENTIFICATION: The Hill: House Dems Criticize Eviction of Occupy Wall Street Protesters.

Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, warned that in preventing protesters from camping out in Zuccotti Park, the city has “effectively removed [the protesters’] ability to be there 24/7.” . . . While a few Democrats acknowledged that Bloomberg had a responsibility to ensure the safety and health of those in the park, others offered support for the demonstrators and concern that the mayor was going too far.

They’d feel differently if the Tea Party were camped out on Capitol Hill. Meanwhile, was getting kicked out the best possible endgame for the Occupiers? I’d say yes. At least, if I were the Republicans I’d want them camped out for another 50 weeks or so . . . .
