A CALL TO fight web-censorship in Britain. It seems to me that large segments of the world’s political class are getting too big for their britches.

JESSE WALKER: Fearmongering at the SPLC. “The group delights in finding tenuous ties between the tendencies it tracks, then describing its discoveries in as ominous a tone as possible.” They used to call that “McCarthyism,” didn’t they?

Plus, from the comments: “Don’t you guys know libertarians are dangerous? They are going to take over the government and leave everyone alone.”

A SCOTT BROWN STIMULUS PROPOSAL: “U.S. Sen. Scott Brown’s first piece of legislation is a proposal to return unspent stimulus cash in the form of a payroll tax cut for workers, a proposal that came as the Bay State Republican was named to the prestigious Armed Services committee.”

A payroll tax cut won’t fly with this Congress. No opportunity for graft.

TAXPAYERS SUE ATLANTA OVER “ILLEGAL” PENSION CHANGES: “A group of Atlanta homeowners has filed a class-action lawsuit against the city, charging its elected officials illegally increased pension benefits for its employees in 2001 and 2005, putting the city’s finances at risk.”

CALIFORNIA UPDATE: “A California couple wrongly accused of abusing their teenager was arrested and had their other children removed from their home. They’ve since been cleared of the charges, but no one seems to know how to take them off the state’s list of child abusers. Under California law, local authorities are required to add to the list anyone even accused of abusing children, even if they’ve yet to be charged. The problem is that the law apparently offers no guidance on who has the authority to remove people once they’ve been cleared.”

Plus, from the comments: “Let’s all go accuse our assemblymen, see if that fixes the problem.”

REMEMBERING Dr. Seuss.

POPULAR MECHANICS: TOYOTA: DEMYSTIFIED. “But the possibility that a vehicle could go from idling at a traffic light to terrific, uncalled-for and uncontrollable acceleration because the guy next to you at a traffic light answered his cellphone? Or some ghost in the machine or a hacker caused a software glitch that made your car run away and the brakes suddenly simultaneously fail? Not in the least bit likely. Toyota deserves a better deal than the media and Congress are giving it.”

Personally, I’d like to see some Congressmen forced to testify before a panel of car dealers, about the budget deficit’s Sudden Acceleration Problem.
