I suspect one reason is not just an expectation of higher gas prices, but an expectation of higher gas prices coupled with a holdup in Prius shipments from Japan due to the earthquake. This would be a big boost for Chevy Volt sales, except that the Chevy Volt’s transmission comes from Japan.
