CHINA, RUSSIA QUIT THE DOLLAR: “China and Russia have decided to renounce the US dollar and resort to using their own currencies for bilateral trade, Premier Wen Jiabao and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin announced late on Tuesday.” This is presented as bad news for the dollar — and it may be — but it also looks like a return to the old Soviet days of intra-communist trade.
