THE FUTURE BELONGS TO THOSE WHO SHOW UP:

This is why lefties are so threatened by homeschooling and other modes of resistance to grooming.

DOUGLAS MACKINNON: Failing cities like Chicago should heed Ken Griffin’s warning: No tax base, no money.

Thanks to President Trump, and also to the rhetorical feud now taking place between him and Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, Chicago is now getting a great deal of attention. But guess what? The Windy City was already awful long before that feud.

As the Chicago Tribune reported several years ago, over the past 60 years, more than 40,000 men, women and children have been murdered in the city, with hundreds of thousands wounded. Although many are not aware of that shocking statistic, it can be assumed that Ken Griffin knew of it. Why? Because Chicago had served as the headquarters for Citadel for more than three decades when he chose to leave it forever.

In explaining his rationale for moving his world-famous hedge fund to Miami, Griffin said in part: “Chicago, you know, unfortunately, over the last six or seven years, has been engulfed in a series of problems, which has been our headquarters for years. Asking people to leave Chicago for New York or Miami has not been hard.”

Note to far-left socialist-leaning mayors, politicians and activists: If you drive out billionaires and job creators, then your “free is for me” policy initiatives will collapse.

Well, yes — but the socialist-leaning mayors, politicians, and activists take their cut off the top.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON AT THE WASHINGTON POST?

The newsroom needs far more improvement, but almost any change is welcome.

ROUTINE BUT NEVER BORING: SpaceX lofts 10,000th Starlink satellite to orbit on record-tying 132nd Falcon 9 launch of the year.

A Falcon 9 rocket carrying 28 Starlink internet satellites lifted off from California’s Vandenberg Space Force Base today at 3:24 p.m. EDT (1924 GMT; 12:24 p.m. local California time).

Those 28 included the 10,000th Starlink spacecraft ever to reach orbit, which a SpaceX employee noted on the company’s launch webcast: “From Tintin to 10,000! Go Starlink, go Falcon, go SpaceX!”

It was also the 132nd Falcon 9 liftoff of the year, equaling the mark set by the rocket last year — and there are still nearly 2.5 months to go in 2025.

If the company maintains this cadence, they’ll finish the year with 160 or so Falcon 9 launches, plus five Starship flight tests.

KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Dude, Where’s My King? “We all know that the entire premise of the No Kings tantrum is utterly ridiculous. That’s no surprise, because the Democrats are forever proceeding from false premises. My mom asked me to explain what the protests were all about. It’s even more absurd when you hear it out loud. I told Mom that everything that the Democrats are in a rage about is based on falsehoods they tell each other about President Trump and those of us who support him. They get their news from memes on Facebook and radicals at the Huffington Post. Never have so many been so ignorant and so loud.”

A VERY PUBLIC EDUCATION: WA school district REINSTATES teacher who replaced words of National Anthem with ‘f*ck ICE, f*ck Trump, free Palestine.’

No nose ring, but the crazy eyes are in full effect.

JOURNALISM: CBS News editor Bari Weiss stuns 60 Minutes journalists to silence as she asks humiliating question on ‘slanted’ coverage.

The self-proclaimed centrist, 41, who has made political neutrality a focal point of her plans for the network, hit journalists with the seven-word question during a private Tuesday meeting, The New York Times reported.

‘Why does the country think you’re biased?’ she asked – leaving the staff and stars of the country’s top news program baffled and unable to respond.

Weiss’s question was awkward, as three anonymous sources told the newspaper.

The 60 Minutes reporters – including standouts Anderson Cooper, who doubles as a long-time CNN anchor, and Lesley Stahl – see themselves as impartial, the insiders said.

Previously: The Liberal Bias of CNN’s Anderson Cooper. “Should CNN really be that comfortable with the ‘face’ of their network giving such an unchallenged platform to such a biased commentator? Wouldn’t it be more fair to at least have someone to rebut his point of view, or to add a different perspective? Put another way, how often has Cooper had on, as guest, Maher’s equivalent on the right, say his old pal Ann Coulter, who appears to take a similar approach to Maher’s in the business of outrage? Yes, we are aware that Coulter has appeared on AC360, but the tone of those discussions appear very different than the amused and convivial conversations that Cooper shares with Maher.”

And another flashback: CBS “60 minutes”: Instead of listening to the hostages, Stahl chose to glorify Hamas.

COLONIALISM, STRAIGHT UP:

What’s most remarkable about the colonization of Britain is that it’s being done with the connivance of British officials, and without the threat of a powerful foreign army or navy.

JOHN LOTT: What the Stats Really Say About Crime Surge.

During last year’s presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, Trump said violent crime was rising. ABC moderator David Muir immediately fact-checked him, claiming, “President Trump, as you know, the FBI says overall violent crime is coming down in this country…”

Nearly every major media outlet echoed that narrative. National Public Radio ran the headline, “Violent crime is dropping fast in the U.S. – even if Americans don’t believe it.” The Wall Street Journal declared, “Violent Crime Rate Falls Sharply After Pandemic Surge.” Vox insisted, “Violent crime is plummeting.” Axios reported, “New data shows violent crime dropping sharply in major U.S. cities.”

However, a new Bureau of Justice Statistics report, which includes data through 2024, shows that Trump was right during the debate when he said, “Crime here is up and through the roof.” The National Crime Victimization Survey shows violent crime surged 59%, with rape and sexual assault up 67%, robbery up 38%, and aggravated assault up 62%. That’s the largest four-year increase in the survey’s 52-year history.

Why, it’s almost as though Muir, NPR, WSJ, Vox, and all the other outlets were just pushing a narrative convenient to the Democrats, rather than reporting the news.

AN OPEN LETTER: Dear Vladimir,

I write this to you sincerely, though I doubt you know me or remember me from Adam’s housecat, as what may be one of the last overtly political posts on this blog. For all that I plan to talk about politics in some different contexts, my time in other discussions of politics is at an end as I move into a truly new life of Faith.

I hope you will get this, intact even, as there is still at least one person in the Kremlin openly reading me pretty much daily. And, yes, I know that was a bit of a message too. I was and am actually glad of it as I hope some of my messages got through, at least in part.

This really would be a great time for peace.

SHARKS GOTTA SWIM, BATS GOTTA FLY: Newsom Signs Another ‘Do Something’ Gun Control Bill That Will – Surprise! – Do Nothing. “In what shouldn’t surprise anyone, California Gov. Gavin Newsom used his pen to sign Assembly Bill 1127, which gun control activists deemed the ‘Glock Ban’. Gov. Newsom has never seen a gun control proposal he didn’t absolutely love. AB 1127 bans among the most commonly owned type of handgun available to law-abiding Californians, including GLOCK Gen3 pistols currently on California’s approved handgun roster.”

FLORIDA MAN FRIDAY [VIP]: Introducing Florida Quinceañero. “It’s time for your much-needed break from the serious news, and this week, we’ll learn all about Florida Quinceañero, how not to get to your doctor’s appointment, and why old, rich California Men shouldn’t date former 27-year-old hotties.”

SPACE: Once unthinkable, NASA and Lockheed now consider launching Orion on other rockets.

The Orion spacecraft and Space Launch System rocket have been attached at the hip for the better part of two decades. The big rocket lifts, the smaller spacecraft flies, and Congress keeps the money rolling in.

But now there are signs that the twain may, in the not too distant future, split.

This is because Lockheed Martin has begun to pivot toward a future in which the Orion spacecraft—thanks to increasing reusability, a focus on cost, and openness to flying on different rockets—fits into commercial space applications. In interviews, company officials said that if NASA wanted to buy Orion missions as a “service,” rather than owning and operating the spacecraft, they were ready to work with the space agency.

“Our message is we absolutely support it, and we’re starting that discussion now,” said Anthony Byers, director of Strategy and Business Development for Lockheed Martin, the principal contractor for Orion.

This represents a significant change. Since the US Congress called for the creation of the Space Launch System rocket a decade and a half ago, Orion and this rocket have been discussed in tandem, forming the backbone of an expendable architecture that would launch humans to the Moon and return them to Earth inside Orion. Through cost-plus contracts, NASA would pay for the rockets and spacecraft to be built, closely supervise all of this, and then operate the vehicles after delivery.

But the landscape is shifting.

SLS won’t be missed by anyone, except for certain contractors and their benefactors in Congress.

HOMELESS, INC. REMAINS A PROFITABLE GRIFT:

TEXAS: Democrat Sacrificial Lamb Steps Up To Be Slaughtered By Abbott. “Every four years, the Texas Democratic Party has to offer up a gubernatorial candidate to get slaughtered by the Republican nominee. Beto O’Rourke lost to incumbent Greg Abbott by over 800,000 votes in 2022, and Abbott’s two previous opponents, Lupe Valdez (2018) and Wendy ‘Abortion Barbie’ Davis (2014) didn’t even get that close. Davis was a state senator, and Lupe Valdez a Dallas County sheriff, and now another leftwing female official unknown statewide has decided to step up to the butcher’s block.”

BUT ALL THE VERY BEST PEOPLE ASSURED ME THAT ANTIFA WAS JUST AN IDEA: Two Alleged Antifa Members Charged with Terrorism-Related Crimes. “Federal prosecutors have charged two North Texas men, Cameron Arnold and Zachary Evetts, who are accused of helping orchestrate an attack on an ICE detention center in Alvarado. They are charged with providing material support to terrorists, attempted murder of officers and employees of the U.S., and discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.”
