I hope this isn’t a tease.
NIALL FERGUSON:
The best is the enemy of the good. Contrary to recent press speculation, the draft 28-point plan for peace in Ukraine is in fact a reasonable basis for negotiations. Journalists can gripe about it as they griped about the 20-point Gaza plan. But wars are not ended by op-eds. 1/5

SHOCKER: Locking Up Criminals Reduces Crime. “Forgive the snark — I’m not at all making fun of City Journal’s Tal Fortgang or James Q. Wilson’s Thinking About Crime, which remains instructive after five decades — and forms the backbone of Fortgang’s new article. I’m making fun of the fact that our friends on the Left must be constantly reminded of this basic truth.”
NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVE ALONG: AOC seeks money for Thanksgiving turkey giveaway—donations go straight to campaign through ActBlue.
The outlet reported that an email was sent out by Ocasio-Cortez that stated, “Thanksgiving is two weeks away. Will you chip in $5 or anything you can today to help us bring the joy of the holiday season into homes around NYC this year?”
However, clicking on the contribution link sends those who read the email to a campaign fundraising page on the Democrat donations platform, ActBlue. Those submitting donations were prompted to make one-time or repeated donations, the outlet reported.
After selecting a dollar amount, there was also a disclosure that states the appeal is “paid for by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress” and that the donations do not qualify for charitable donations.
Looks a little scammy.
THE NEWS JUST KEEPS GETTING WEIRDER: The Skies Empty Over Caracas As the Dictator Dances. “What I can report today is that Maduro is still trying to appeal to the American public to stop Donald Trump from invading his country and crying about imperialism. Last week, he did it by singing “Imagine” by John Lennon and claiming he has some sort of direct line to Jesus, who will protect Venezuela from the yanquis.”
AI: Google tells employees it must double capacity every 6 months to meet AI demand.
During an all-hands meeting earlier this month, Google’s AI infrastructure head Amin Vahdat told employees that the company must double its serving capacity every six months to meet demand for artificial intelligence services, reports CNBC. The comments show a rare look at what Google executives are telling its own employees internally. Vahdat, a vice president at Google Cloud, presented slides to its employees showing the company needs to scale “the next 1000x in 4-5 years.”
While a thousandfold increase in compute capacity sounds ambitious by itself, Vahdat noted some key constraints: Google needs to be able to deliver this increase in capability, compute, and storage networking “for essentially the same cost and increasingly, the same power, the same energy level,” he told employees during the meeting. “It won’t be easy but through collaboration and co-design, we’re going to get there.”
It’s unclear how much of this “demand” Google mentioned represents organic user interest in AI capabilities versus the company integrating AI features into existing services like Search, Gmail, and Workspace. But whether users are using the features voluntarily or not, Google isn’t the only tech company struggling to keep up with a growing user base of customers using AI services.
Major tech companies are in a race to build out data centers. Google competitor OpenAI is planning to build six massive data centers across the US through its Stargate partnership project with SoftBank and Oracle, committing over $400 billion in the next three years to reach nearly 7 gigawatts of capacity.
Where’s the power supposed to come from?
JAMIE K WILSON: The New Definition of Blackness: When Race Stops Meaning Race. “In this framework, blackness is not about lineage or shared culture. It’s not about lived experience or heritage. Blackness is an ideological posture — one enforced by those who claim the authority to define it.”
EXCLUSIVE: Trump tells Just the News he will designate Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization.
The president’s announcement came just days after Just the News published a long expose on the Muslim Brotherhood’s activities and growing concerns inside the Trump administration. Trump has been considering the move since his first administration.
The Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamist group founded nearly a century ago in Egypt but with chapters, parties, and affiliated movements around the world.
Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott last week designated the MB and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as being “foreign terrorist organizations and transnational criminal organizations.” CAIR has denied the label and sued the Texas government. According to Politico, “CAIR says that proclamation, which bars its members from buying land in Texas, violates its members’ constitutional property and free speech rights.”
Republicans in the House and the Senate, along with some Democrats, have been pushing the State Department to designate the Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization. Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated in August that the designation of the MB as a foreign terrorist organization was “in the works” but that the process was a lengthy and careful one, including because the MB has numerous branches and affiliates to examine individually.
Overdue, but welcome.
KRUISER’S MORNING BRIEFING: Marjorie Taylor Greene Is Keeping It Weird Until the End.“That was an intensely strange way to emerge from my regularly scheduled weekly news coma. My weekends are devoted to sports, video games, and non-political reading. By the time I get around to paying attention to the real world on Sunday night, all kinds of fun stuff has gone on. Finding out that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene had a Michelle Obama moment was a real shocker.”
STANDARDS: C students will get automatic college admission in California.
There are fewer 18-year-olds and more wariness about college costs. “The number of high school graduates entering higher education is about to begin a projected 15-year drop, starting with the class now being recruited,” writes Marcus. “That’s on top of a 13 percent decline over the last 15 years.”
“The reality is, the overwhelming majority of universities are struggling to put butts in seats. And they need to do everything that they can to make it easier for students and their families,” said Kevin Krebs, founder of the college admission consulting firm HelloCollege.
Somebody should write a book about this.
THANK YOU FOR RECOGNIZING THE TRUTH:

KAPUT: ‘Almost every German city is now on the verge of bankruptcy.’
Mayor Kufen stressed that the crisis is universal, affecting municipalities regardless of their location: “What’s new is that all cities have their backs against the wall,” he told Bild newspaper.
He warned that “budget freezes would now have to be imposed everywhere,” including in many cities previously considered wealthy.
Kufen emphasized the need for a national discussion on affordability: “We have to talk about what we can do so that our welfare state itself does not become a social case. This means: What do we want to afford and what else can we afford?”
However, he noted that cities cannot make these crucial decisions themselves; only the federal government can
Kufen illustrated the crisis with figures from his own city, Essen, which has a population of nearly 600,000. The city had planned a balanced budget for 2025. “But instead of a slight increase of €1.7 million, we currently have a deficit of €123 million,” he calculated.
Once again, refugee accommodation and integration are near the top of the list for reasons why the city is seeing a budget shortfall. Far from being a solution to Germany’s budget and pension crisis, they have become a massive financial burden for the country, costing at least €50 billion a year in social integration, housing, and benefits.
Send them home.

SERIOUSLY LONG-RANGE FIRES: The time to move ICBMs from the Air Force to the Army is now.
First, as Wilsbach’s message indicates, silo-based missiles are simply not core to the Air Force identity or mission, and they never will be. With a fleet of aircraft that is the oldest and smallest it has ever been, the nation needs an Air Force that is laser-focused on restoring and expanding US airpower — not managing a missile force.
Second, the missileer career field has no natural synergy with the rest of the Air Force and is increasingly orphaned and disconnected. Missile operators and maintainers train and work separately from the rest of the service, and gain experience that does not translate well to airborne missions or most senior leadership roles in the Air Force. Combined with an ICBM force that has been shrinking since the end of the Cold War, the missileer career field has chronic morale problems, limited promotion opportunities, and an unsustainable size — issues documented repeatedly over the past 30 years.
Third, because its missile fields are widely dispersed, the Air Force currently sustains a fleet of utility helicopters it does not otherwise need to fly crews between silos — along with helicopter pilots, maintainers, security forces, and training pipelines unique to the ICBM mission. At a time of shrinking force structure and financial pressures, maintaining a separate fleet of aircraft and supporting career fields just to protect the ICBMs seems wasteful.
In contrast, the Army already operates all of the nation’s other land-based missiles, including the military’s only other silo-based missiles — the ground-based interceptors at Fort Greely, Alaska, and Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. Long-range fires is a growing and highly valued Army mission, and Army personnel in ICBM jobs would build skills better aligned with other jobs in the Army. Moreover, the Army already has the utility helicopters and force structure needed to take on the ICBM security mission more effectively and efficiently than the Air Force. The ICBM mission is a natural fit for the Army.
Left unsaid: The Army couldn’t possibly do a worse job managing the Sentinel program.
